Buccaneers star was nearly unstoppable at FedEx Field last year
In a career filled with highlights, Simeon Rice always will remember Oct. 12, 2003 and the day he enjoyed against the Washington Redskins.
The Tampa Bay defensive end was in on seven tackles, had four sacks for a total of 34 yards in losses, forced one fumble and re- covered one fumble. The NFL selected him as the defensive player of the week.
Does he have a reason he played so well that afternoon in Tampa Bay's 35-13 victory?
"If I told you, I'd have to kill you," Rice said, laughing.
Rest of Story....

That game was against Spurier and his horrible blocking schemes. Plus, I think Rice is just like Adwalye (?) Ogunleye, an OK pass rusher who was helped out by a better guy (ex: Jason Taylor) and now that Sapp is gone, it will be easier for the 'Skins to focus on Rice.

It was really the other way around in Tampa. Having Rice down there helped out Sapp more than the other way around.

Agreed GF, although I don't consider Sapp or Rice to be on Jason Taylors level.

I'm not sold on Rice. He was NOTHING before getting to Tampa, and I know Sapp is not the dominant DT he used to be, but he still had the potential to be and Offenses had to respect that. None of the sacks that Rice had on that day came against the O-line. He got them against RBs or TE. Bugel won't let that happen and Rice won't get a sack Sunday!

It's a new year and a new team, so let's see how this plays out on Sunday. I think things will work just fine for the Skins. 1-0 after game one.

The last time I talked to Bucs fans they were very high on a DT named
Booger. They thought highly of Sapp, of course, but not as much as the national media seems to.
