What are your predictions against Tampa?

We all know that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers aka the new look Raiders are a team to not take lightly. They have a well balanced team. They got rid of some distractions as well as added some nice pieces to any already dangerous team. Lynch's leadership will be missed. Sapps lard@ss will be doing his "Beyonce" Pogo dance in another endzone. Keyshawn is under Parcells again and Galloway takes his spot. Jurivious will be back to full form. The Defense is always dangerous if not one of the best every year. Johnson will qb yet another season for them. And half of the team is new faces in a strange place.

So what's gonna happen when they collide at FedEx? Who's Defense will be more dominant? Who's Offense will make the big plays? Will Brunell do what is ecpected of him? Can Portis run against their line and be productive? Who will make less mistakes?

These are some big questions headed into what should be a great game.

I say we win a close one. 34-20. Tampa will be getting Field Goals consistently but won't reach the summit as much as we do. Although my spread is 14 points.... It will be tight until the last quarter then we will pull away with Portis doing his best work. I say 20-20 at the end of the 3rd, with us scoring 14 unanswered points, to finish them off.

Gibbs was always great for keeping it close and then pulling away in the last quarter. I think next Sunday, History will repeat itself. :feedback;

We beat Tampa 17-3. They will try to counter our blitzes with short dump passes. LC has over 100 yards catching and Portis barely makes 100 on the ground. He is still feeling out the O-line.

Our defense will dominate and Washington will have two sacks, LA will have 1.5. Taylor will have some nice pops in this game because of Tampas short passing game.

You maybe right. They have QB controversy down there. Simms is performing very well under "Chuckys" system.

Very Close game, our offense isn't that good YET !! Our defense will be one of the top 5 in the NFL. We will win because of the Defense, Taylor will take one to the house, LA will have 2 sacks, Portis will have around 70 yards rushing, 1 touchdown threw the air.
Skins 17
Bucs 10

I don't see Tampa any better than they were last year, actually they are probably worse. Very average offense, the OL is shakey, McCardell is out, Galloway is new. The Defense has been their trademark, but I believe they have replaced Sapp and Lynch with rookies.

Opening Day home game; this is one the Skins should win. You never know in the NFL, but I GUESS 27-10 Skins!

FedEx will be rocking like it never has and cause TB some problems. Defense will score once, offense will do better than expected.

Skins - 24
TB - 10

My prediction is this:

1- The Bucs are going to try and run it up the middle and test the Redskins D-line.

2- They'll also test Smoot and Springs on deep passes.

3- The Redskins are going to surprise just about everyone in the NFL, the media, the fans, and anyone else who thinks that Gibbs will have an offense like he did the last time. Yes, we're going to see lots of movement on the line, plenty of tight ends, and a power running game. But, Gibbs is going to come out with an offense that no one is expecting. What exactly that is, no one outside of the Redskins locker room knows.

4- The Redskins will be prepared.

5- The kicking game, and specifically field position, will play an important part in not just THIS game, but all Redskins games this year.

One thing that is key to this game, is not even on the field. It's in the stands. It's going to be important for the Redskins fans to set the tone early. The crowd need to become a big part of Redskins games this year, and no better time to start than the very first possesion of Joe Gibbs first game back. If the crowd can build some momentum, the players and the way they play will feed off of that. I've said it all along, that it just takes ONE win, one turnover, one break, or something positive to give the players the confidence they need. So much of the last three years has been dominated by poor preparation, poor mental attitudes, and no momentum. Momentum is more powerful than we fans think. If the Redskins can claim some form of advantage from the crowd noise, they can build on it.

Joe Gibbs will have the Redskins prepared for their part.

The one frustrating thing with Gibbs is that his teams are usually close or a bit behind at halftime - only to make great half-time adjustments to win.

I think the game will be closer than I'd like. The D will be tough - but will get burned once or twice. The O will be a bit rough, but overall Skins to win 24-21. =D>

For what its worth, the current line at sportsbook.com is that Skins win by two.

Galloway's still questionable for that game, they don't have mccardell, their oline is suspect, so i don't see them scoring more than 10 with garner maybe. gibbs will play clock management and our time of possesion will be staggering as is was against miami and the skins win 24 to 10

If it serves me correct, if we win.....better yet, WHEN we win Next Sunday it will be the franchise's 500th victory. That's including when we were the Boston Braves and Boston Redskins.

:celebrate: :celebrate:

Agreed. Overall the Bucs just aren't very good this year. No Keenan and Galloway is a 3rd rate WR at best these days. Their defense will be mid table this year. Gibbs will have them prepared. 34-13 Skins win.

Not too many people in Tampa are convinced that this team is ready to go. There are questions swirling around the lesser Grammatica and about the health of Alstott, not to mention the lack of a clear #1 receiver.
The only constant is Brad. He's smart. They also still have McFarland and Derrick Brooks.
I don't know, man. It's gonna be a tough one to score any points. We'll be lucky to get a field goal against a team like this.
(Hey, Coach Gibbs...if you're reading this, can I get my gold star now ?) :)

TCWest --- Please don't ever use the word constant in the same sentence as Brad Johnson.

He is ANYTHING but constant.

That's more crap.
He's particularly constant.
"Constantly" running for his life.

Well I hate to be the one that doesn't see a Skins W, but I picked the Skins to be 8-8 this year. One reason why is their schedule, very tough home schedule and it's always tough on the road. I see the Skins going 4-4 at home and on the road, that being said I see this game as a close loss 16-13 Bucs!

I gotta agree with you DE...Tampa Bay still has a great defense and Brad gets rid of the ball quickly so the use of blitzes will be nullified...a late field goal wins it for TB (nobody will be happier than me if I'm wrong)

Well I think its good to have constructive critisism (as always) on here. It's also a plus to see that some of us are trying to be more realistic (in their opinions) and expect a loss, but at the same time is still pulling for a win.

My whole thing is this: More than likely a win won't come easy for the better part of the game. I still say the winner pulls away in the 4th quarter and I just feel that we will be the team that prevails.

Now if we had Tampa later on in the year, I think that there would be more of advantage for them to win it. They always seem to find a comfort zone after the first couple of games. I agree with the posts about how they have too many question marks. In the same sense I also agree that this is Tampa, and a win doesn't come easy over John Gruden, no matter who is on their team.

The reason Tampa will not be able to win this game is that they simply will not be able to game plan against us. This is the very reason for all the secrecy and vanilla offense this whole pre-season. Gibbs will catch Tampa by surprise early and often. This will be more of a blowout than people think.

DEHog raises a few good points....however. I just don't see this Bucs team being as solid as they were in years past. The will likely finish 8-8 or worse and should be one of those teams that the Skins are "supposed" to beat.

I only see 7 teams on our schedule that we're "supposed" to beat...Thats why I picked the Skins to go 8-8. Now can we steal one weren't supposed to win and go 9-7... of course. But that's assuming we beat the G-Men twice and split will Dallas. If Williams D is good, I can see the Skins doing much better. Let's hope the latter happens!! :D

Expect a very low scoring game. Tampa still has a very good defense, without "mouth almighty" Sapp and Lynch. The team that gets 20 points will win this game.

I think the skins will win because Tampa has greater turnover of new players than the Skins.

Skins 16
Tampa 10
