Gibby: Is he still around?

With the final pre-season game finally hear, it may be possible that Gibby gets some PT... or am I wrong?
Is he still even on the team?
I'll defer to thehogs.net's Gibby enthusiast, NikiH, for more on the matter.

NikiH - I know you've been working the phone lines to draw attention to Gibby's total "rejection" among the QBs playing. Have you considered him a goner, or is there still hope?

While I am not Niki, I do know that he didn't play until the last preseason game last year as well, so I would expect to see him at some point, unless Coach Gibbs decides to play a bunch of Ramsey.

Why start playing him now?
We have to evaluate talent that will make the roster tonight... we don't need to evaluate Hamdan. He has obviously already been relegated to 4th string status.
Luckily, the practice squad has been expanded and I would be very surprised if Hamdan wasn't ALREADY on that list.
But as to tonight... I'd be surprised... I think you'll see Brunell and Ramsey for most of the evening and if there's any time left over... Hass will come in. I think TH has definitley already earned the clipboard holder status for the season.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a player has to be released first before being added to the practice squad, right?
And the day teams can start signing people to their practice squad is the day following the deadline for final cuts, correct?
So, since we don't really need to see him play in a preseason game to know we want him on the practice squad (as BossHog points out), then why parade him around for other teams to get a look at?

This may well be Gibby's farewell "audition" as Skin, whether on the sideline or in the game. Can he still be on te PS? I thought there were rules barring the team from doing so.
I think it'll be:
Mark - 1st qtr
Patrick - 2nd/3rd
Hassy/Gibby - 4th
So much for the local boy making the squad.

Ok sorry I missed this until now. Our cable is freaking out. And I'm trying to get someone with a clue out here to fix it! @@ just in time for the freaking game! Adelphia is going to be highly sorry if we don't see that game! URGGGHHH We may end up driving to FedEx and trying to buy tickets in the parking lot. LOL
Anyway, about Gibran, I think that a mix of BH and cville is correct. I think there isn't a need to see him. They'ver already assessed him as a young guy with an arm. He is practice squad bound. So why show other teams, lacking at the QB position, the possibilites he could bring to them. My one fear is that that there is a team out there already searching for a cheap 3rd, and took note of him in his NFL Europe play.
That being said I would love to see him play tonight, it's just probably not in the cards.
Of course if he ends up on our practice squad, Charles Mann is going to get a sweet little email from me, reminding him that he said this guy wasn't going to be any part of the Redskin's organization.

You can always watch it over broadcast with an antenna, like the cavemen did in the stone age.

What happened to the whole "it's not in the cards" speech?? You actually had me convinced. Oh, well. I, too, would like to see Gibby play, so I'll let that one go.

Yep, I think Ham bone will be on the PS and I wish him success wherever he ends up down the road as long as he doesn't embarass us

But really, why should we throw him into the mix when the the spots have been determined. We don't need 4 qbs on the depth chart, so why should we have put him in the game.
I don't even think Hass got in the game tonight. Which is cool with me. Pamsey needed to get out there and try to iron out his misshaps.

If rama-lama-Hamdan does end up on the PS it will, by rule, be his last.
I finally found the PS rules:
PRACTICE SQUADS
Section 1. Practice Squads: For each regular season commencing with the 1993 League Year, the League may elect in accordance with this Article to establish practice squads not to exceed five (5) [2004: now 8] players per Club.
Section 2. Signing With Other Clubs: Any player under contract to a Club as a practice squad player shall be completely free to negotiate and sign a Player Contract with any Club at any time during the League Year, to serve as a player on any Club’s Active or Inactive List, and any Club is completely free to negotiate and sign such a Player Contract with such player, without penalty or restriction, including, but not limited to, Draft Choice Compensation between Clubs or First Refusal Rights of any kind, or any signing period, except that such player shall not be permitted to sign a Player Contract with another Club to serve as a practice squad player while under contract as a practice squad player.
Section 3. Salary: Minimum salary for a practice squad player shall be $3,300 per week for the 1993-97 League Years, $3,650 per week for the 1998-99 League Years, $4,000 per week for the 2000-02 League Years, and $4,350 for the 2003-04 League Years, including postseason weeks in which his Club is in the playoffs, provided however, that no player who was on a practice squad in the 1992 season shall be paid less than the minimum practice squad salary for that season.
*Extension Agreement 2/25/98
Section 4. Eligibility:
(a) The practice squad shall consist of the following players, provided that they have not served more than one previous season on a Practice Squad: (i) players who do not have an Accrued Season of NFL experience; and (ii) free agent players who were on the Active List for fewer than nine regular season games during their only Accrued Season(s). No player may be a practice squad player for more than two seasons.
*Extension Agreement 2/25/98
(b) A player shall be deemed to have served on a Practice Squad in a season if he has passed the club’s physical and has been a member of a club’s Practice Squad for at least three regular season or post-season games (a bye week counts as a game provided that the player is not terminated until after the regular season or post-season weekend in question).
*Extension Agreement 2/25/98
* If a player on the Practice Squad of one club (Club A) signs an NFL Player Contract with another club (Club B),
Page 165
(1) the player shall receive three weeks salary of his NFL Player Contract at the 53-player Active/Inactive List minimum even if he is terminated by Club B prior to earning that amount, and (2) Club B is required to count the player on its 53-player Active/Inactive List for three games (a bye week counts as a game) even if he is terminated or assigned via waivers to another club or is signed as a free agent to another club’s 53-player roster or another club’s Practice Squad prior to that time. If the player is terminated from Club B’s 53-player roster and signed to Club B’s Practice Squad, he shall continue to count on the club’s 53-player Active/Inactive List but shall not count against the five-player Practice Squad limit until the three-game requirement has been fulfilled. If a player is terminated prior to the completion of the three-game period and is signed to Club B’s Practice Squad or is signed or assigned to another club’s 53-player roster or Practice Squad, any salary (as that term is defined in Article XXIV, Section 1(c)) that he receives from any NFL club applicable to the three-game period shall be an offset against the three weeks salary that he is entitled to receive from Club B.
