Got A Question...

The Cowpukes released Mr. Carter because something came up on his drug test right? If that was the main reason, how come he was signed by the Jets? Do they not care that he may run into trouble with the NFL?
If he failed a physical for the pukes, how did he pass for the Jets?
The NFL should set a standard....because if this goes on, players could act like Ricky Williams and just get away with it and sign with another team...

Do I have a fair argument or is there something that I do not know?

Actually I believe the issue is that Dallas gave Quincy a drug test. Which goes against league guidelines. The Cowboys are not allowed to administer their own testing.
Of course this is all hear say because no one has come right out and given a solid answer as to why he was fired.

I completely agree with you about the drug issue. He should be held accountable for his behavior no matter where he goes.

Carter is in the leagues' substance abuse program which is a product of negotiation between the league and the union. The test was not administered by the Cowboys, but they found out that he failed the test, and cut their losses.

Under the program, teams are not allowed to cut players simply because they failed a drug test. That's what the suit by the Union is all about.

Carter faces a fine equal to four game checks but not necessarily a suspension. Contrast this to Julius Peppers who took ephedra and was suspended for 4 games.

As for the Jets, well, this is another example that if a player has talent or is perceived to have talent, he will always get another chance. (see also Darrell Russell) Carter never failed a physical with the Cowboys.

There is definately a problem with the drug testing program but the thinking has been that if you throw this guy out of football, his drug problem is going to get worse. By keeping him in the league, and testing him, you get some leverage on him to keep himself clean.

I think that Dallas is also under suspicion of violating the CBA by administering an in-house test, which is against the rules.

I think that's a rumor that got started because teams are not supposed to know when a player fails a league administered drug test. Chris Mortenson of ESPN and a bunch of other folks have reported that the Cowboys were not testing themselves, and of course, Dallas firmly denies they were.

They also restated that Michael Irvin was a fine upstanding player, and that white stuff on his face came from eating a powdered donut.

Maybe Parcells had something to do with it. Could Irvin played for Parcells? Seriously doubt it. Funny how Keyshawn is a Parcells guy but more than likely clean too.

It's more about who you are. JJ and BP both get up there and say this was a easy choice...blah,blah,blah.

Because it was Carter and they didn't want him, I here all the bull about how BP and JJ don't put up with it...what about LT or Irvin if this had been Troy they would be behind him.

Did anybody know prior to this that QC was already in the NFL drug program?? No one I know, knew??? That's because the boys still saw him has there QB of the future...enter Drew Hensen...exit QC
