Four defensive players--linebackers LaVar Arrington and Mike Barrow, defensive lineman Phillip Daniels and cornerback Walt Harris--are among seven players not expected to travel to St. Louis for Friday night's game against the Rams.
Arrington has missed the last week of practices with a sprained knee. He said Wednesday that his knee felt like it was improving.
"I felt like I was fine enough to prove to them that I could go," he said. "Hopefully I'll get back next week and they'll give me some snaps in the last preseason game.
Barrow also sat out practice on Wednesday, although he continued to work out in individual drills. He has tendinitis in his left knee.
Harris strained his calf in last week's preseason win over Miami. He had just returned to action after having missed most of training camp with left knee tendinitis.
Daniels has yet to make an appearance in a preseason game due to an abdominal strain. He remains confident that he'll be available to play in the season opener on Sept. 12 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"I'm a vet," he told reporters earlier this week. "This is my ninth season. I know how to play football. They need me in September more than they need me right now. I can't be stupid, go out there and injure myself now when they need me more when it counts."
Also not making the trip to St. Louis due to injury are the following: tight end Fred Baxter, linebacker Chris Clemons and offensive lineman.
