It appears Ray Brown is the answer for Jon Jansen's injury. It was reported on NBC 4 today that the Redskins have signed 42 year-old Ray Brown to replace Jansen. Wow, now I'm really worried!

42 years old?!?!? I am so happy.

Maybe he's a member of AARP.
Look on the bright side.
His rates will never change. Never.

Wow, don't know what to say except that I'll be glad to see another old face on the team.

Ray Brown used to be really good but at age 42 I wonder how much juice he has left in his tank? lol

Actually Ray had perhaps his best season ever at age 39... I don't know about at 42... but I will say that he was a solid contributor until the day he retired.
We had to do something... if only to push the guys already with the squad... Brown can do that and he brings great leadership ability... an element to Jansen's departure that has not been discussed too much.
As to whether or not the man can still play at this level, I guess we'll have to see.

Ray was pretty solid the past two seasons with Detroit.

He played for us in 89, would he be considered a 'Hog?'

I LOVE THIS MOVE. We get a veteran tackle. It won't take him long to become familiar with the system. We go from having "THE ROCK" to having "THE REPLACEMENT ROCK" The guy has only missed on game since 92.
And for what it's worth he is a 86 on Madden 2005 LOL.

86? Wow, considering Maddens grading that is is stout.
I welcome him back. Dont know the details but I sure it was a friendly deal.

Well yes he is very old and that is a problem. But if you look at the good things about Mr brown. First would be his extreme reliability, which of course would naturally change as he grows older. Secondly is his familiarity with the system. HE played in Gibb's system for a while so he should be easier to plug in instead of having to have someone learn it from scratch. Third, the fact that Mr. brown is a veteren really adds leadership to the line in Jansan's absense. His experiance and knowledge will be a benefit to many of the younger members of the squad. I really like this move.

He will be the only player on the team that has played for Gibbs during the first era! that's going to be worth something for the younger guys!

If this guy makes the team then something is wrong with the depth behind Jansen.

I like this move. He knows Coach Gibbs and he worked under his system before. I can't wait to see him play this Saturday. It would be great if he still has it.

I would rather we bring back Jim Lachey.

If Lachey comes back, I will be his stalker...that is really sad, eh? I really loved watching him blow guys up on the line.
lotsa years

Remember when the official site said something like "Think about it...there are now a gazillion million years of coaching expereince on the Redskins staff"? They should amend it to say "There are now a gazillion million years of coaching experience...and a gazillion more years experience on the Oline"!
Actually I heard the reason Gibbs was upset about Jansen's injury was that by having to sign another Olineman, it prevented him from signing anymore wide receivers or tight ends.

Brown has missed one game since 92... so when is he going to start showing is age if he's in shape and knows the system I don't see a problem with his age. He wasn't the only offensive lineman that was worked out today just the only one that Joe Gibbs signed that in itself should say something

You kids.
Ray Brown has been brought back (for the time being) as a reserve. He is also very, very valuable to Gibbs and Bugel, because he knows how to play in that offense. Not only could he jump in and be immediately familiar with the terminology, he will be helping Bugel get these guys on the same page. Jansen was a team leader. You can replace the body on the the line, but what about the heart ? Ray Brown is a literal God to Offensive Linemen, and will command the instant respect. He'll right the ship if the rudder gets stuck. Watch.
Do you really think that Gibbs is making a sentimental move here ? If so, you don't know Gibbs like you think you do. This is the same guy who nudged Riggins into retirement. He's not here to play "Good Old Days", and he never was. Ray Brown is here because Gibbs thought that Brown had something to offer at the right price.

Seriously, dude, besides Larry Allen, who on your line is better than Ray Brown?

There is one thing people aren't mentioning. Wasn't Ray Brown a guard? Kenyatta Jones will be the starting Right Tackle. Kenyatta Jones was a reserve. Now there's a missing reserve. Why not fill that role with someone who played for Coach Gibbs for 4 seasons and the redskins for 5. I doubt he will start. That being said, if Jones gets hurt, this allows Derrick Dockery to move to the right guard spot and a 19 or 20 year veteran with 4 years of previous experience in this offense to step in. Seems like an OK move to me.

Jake if you have an aspirations in life to succeed in business read ART OF WAR.
Flozell"The Hotel"Adams. Our center Al Johnson from Wisconsin is gonna be the BEAST. Wiley is gonna have a field day if Brown is there on the 27

hey gambit- That is two guys. One with little left in the tank (Adams) and the other is all potential. Of course then you jump to a defensive lineman.
What does reading Art of War have to do with anything? Another pointless posting that I wasted my time reading and then responding.

Huh. I guess the "Art of War" that Gambit has came with pictures.
Anyway, that's Coughlin's bag. It's a neat set of rules, with some timeless advice. Joe isn't running a military camp, and Jake would be doing just fine having read only "Of Mice And Men", by John Steinbeck.
Okay, Lenny ? Go tend to the rabbits, and wait for George. He's got a little surprise for you.
