GET WELL ROCK

Everyone going to the game on Saturday we're going to try to do something for Jansen. Right before the coin toss (good moment of silence at that time) we need all the Redskin Fans to start chanting "Get Well Rock". It would be great to bring a sign too, more signs the merrier even if its a sheet of paper with the words on it. You can by a white piece of cardbaord (3ft by 4ft) at Staples for 10 dollars and through some black marker on it.

frankcal20 has posted a link to the Washington Post: lacanforaj@washpost.com
Please take a moment to write and ask them to post an article on saturday asking people to shout "get well rock" at that time, as well as bringing a sign if they can.

Jansenfan also has said Sportstalk980 may put this out, so email them if you can and ask if they can put it out. Here is the email to their promotions director: petebrooks@clearchannel.com

Redskins1974 will be helping by telling all the fans outside the parking lot, but if you guys tailgating will take some time out to do the same thing that would be great.

And if you guys can, BossHog, Jake, Justice Hog, Redskins Rule, hailskins666, skinsfaninroanoke, DEHog, if any of you can help in any way, either by just putting out the word or being there and shouting, please help us out. Thanks.

Thanks to all you great fans to show your appreciation for Jansen, it would be great if we could do this. Let's get this ball rolling!

My spelling is horrible, I should have someone else write my sign. Thats "buy a sign", and "throw some black marker on it".

Do we want a "Get Well Rock" or straight up "Jansen" chant? As was noted in the other post, Rock Cartwright is on the team so we may want to reconsider the "get well rock" action.

Can I suggest going with a 4-sylable chant along with claps after the chant? It makes for a better, more universally known chant.

I would recomend:
"Get Well Jan-sen" (Clap, clap, clap/clap/clap)
"Get Well Jan-sen" (Clap, clap, clap/clap/clap)
(The "clap/clap/clap" means 3 fast claps in a row.)

If you have ever been to a NY Yankee game you have head this chant before. As much as I hate the yankees I have to admit it's pretty awsome when the whole crowd starts chanting,

"Lets Go Yan-kees" (Clap, clap, clap/clap/clap)
"Lets Go Yan-kees" (Clap, clap, clap/clap.clap)

We could do the Hokie Pokie.....

"Put Jansen in... you take Jansen out... put Jansen in... and shake his achillies all about... You do the Hokie Pokie... and you spin Jansen all around... and that's what it's all about!"

or something creative like that.. ;)

The only time I went was for what was SUPPOSED to be Cal's last game. But thanks to 9/11 it was not.

Again, I HATE the Yankees but I have to say they honored him a heck of a lot better than the O's did!

In fact, the YANKEE fans started a "Let's go Ripken" chant near the end of the game. It was pretty awesome.

I think we all need to move on... he ain't coming back this year, and there's a whole football team that will be playing and needing our 100% support.

If we wanna do something for JJ, why don't we do something more tangible?

Why don't we have a write-in contest about Jon Jansen. Why don't I sponsor the contest by offering a t-shirt to the best submission. Any of you that want to show your love for JJ can write say up to 500 words about JJ, his loss, your well wishes, what it means to the team... etc. etc.

Then we'll try and get some of the submissions to Jansen himself... publish the winner, and send you a tee. To me that seems more 'doable'.

I also think that you're kidding yourself if you think it's easy to get a whole stadium chanting Jansen's name. You guys can try and organize whatever you want in the way of a chant and I think it's great (and am all for it), but I can promise you there won't be any t-shirts made up, there won't be any signs made up... we struggle just to keep the site afloat financially and as free of ads as it is. We do it because we love it, but its a cost, not a gain.

I'm just a regular Joe fan like everyone else here... I just happen to be 'in charge' of a pretty cool Redskin community. I hope you all understand, and let me know what you think on the contest.

But you can hammer it out as much as you like on the boards and we will support it in any way we can. I was wearing my Jansen jersey when it happened, so like JF, i feel like I mojo-ed him.

OK - Hokie Pokie practice one hour prior to game-time - lot A-3. We'll coordinate a dance as well. ROTFALMAO

Dude, that's funny. I'm down with whatever though.

I think that's a cool idea. Essay contests can be fun, and I think Jon would certainly appreciate a huge stack of well-wishes from us.

:hmm: Gosh.... an essay contest.... isn't that, like...... a thing you do for 8-12 yr. olds in elementary school?

iF i WiN, dO I giT a GoLD StaR??

(Actually, I don't think I stand a chance when talking about Jansen. If it were Weurffel, I'd win hands down. But, I'll let the experts handle the ol' RT)

If it were Weurffel no one would read it! :-P
The essay contest sounds like it could work though!

So it's kiddie stuff because it's about Jansen, because if it were about Wuerffel... you'd be all over it.

I get it.

How about a rusty sherriff badge instead of a gold star?

Thanks for the two cents... here's your change.

My 2 cents

Nah, it ain't like that. It's just that I've never followed Jansen like that. So I'd get creamed by all the other writers. I have a puncher's chance writing about the Wuerff.

My change?

Hey.... did YOU drop that $100 bill?

Made you look!

Boss H. a wet blanket??? say it isn't so! (J/K) (maybe the newbies think you do this for profit Boss~!! HA!)

You newbies might have noticed there are no adds on this site and there is no fee to join!! Where do you think the $$ would be coming from?

Anyway...

I look forward to hearing the chant on TV!!!

All you need are a few people with signs in a few sections of the stadium. If you don't have enough in your party to hold them all just ask some of the other fans. You will find plenty to help!.

I'd use either poster board (4 big pieces) or one long paper sign. PAINT in large letters.

If you do the poster board draw them up like:
GET" "WELL" "JAN" "SEN" and stand in correct order.

For the one long roll of paper:

"GET WELL JAN-SEN" Should suffice.

At a designated time stand up and unfurl the signs facing the crowd.

It should not take long to get it going.

I'm not usually for this type of stuff, but I think this time is an exception. God bless ya if you can get even 1/3 of the crowd chanting. It would not only lift Jansen, but the whole team -- seeing how much we love our Skins.
