I got mine at 11pm last night. I must say that Im very dissapointed in EA's efforts. In a week I'll post a review similiar to the one that I did for ESPN.

I love it. Its a game buit around Defense for guys like me. People begged EA for it and now that its here people complain about. EA cant win for losing. The Madden messeage boards are complaining its hard to run and now majority of people are changing their stance after spending time with it.

Its great and addictive.

Ask her if you can have the game, or ask her if you can have a girlfriend? hehe

I think my wife would let me have a girlfriend before she let me buy a $65 video game.

LOL Cville you are probably right! $65 is alot of money for a game. Probably more then you would spend on a girlfriend! ;-)

Got mine yesterday, and I played it briefly. It's hard to figure out some of the controls, and gameplay seems a hint slower than 2004. However, the moves are very realistic. Overall, it seems a bit "darker" to me. Madden 2004's menus were brighter, and so were the stadiums.

I'd be lying if I said Madden has not let me down. ESPN is the best thing that could have happened to football games. ESPN is so much more enjoyable to play and I have a feeling that once I finish my Madden league, I'll put it in the closet and play ESPN's franchise.

Madden's gameplay is better overall, but ESPN has picked up that slack across the board in other areas.

MADDENS MAIN FAULT!!! There are NO SIGNATURE GIBBS PLAYS!! I have yet to see a counter trey play, that has turned me off to this game.

I only devoted a couple hours last night to it with a couple f my buddies, and I am looking forward to play more before I make a decision on it. After reading the instruction manual, the potential for big plays on both sides of the ball will make for some interesting games!!!

Which new football game is the best for solo play (that is, when your buddies aren't around) on the xbox? I ask because I no longer live near any of my friends (sad times).

Since Madden is the only option on the Gamecube that's what I've got. So far I'm enjoying it. I've moved Todd Pinkston to the slot in hopes of getting him injured into retirement. :)

Gamecubers unite!!!

Has anyone tried the "progressive scan" playability of the game.... or is that an "exclusive" Gamecube feature?

Either or, I guess. I'd have to say ESPN's franchise mode my be a bit more fun this year. So I'd give them a slight edge.

I would go with Madden and their "Franchise" mode. Madden gives you nore control and it does have Gibbs plays, you just have to move the TEs in the right area. Try I form double TE. Beside there are a bunch of teams who still use Gibbs system in the Game. (Rams and the Panthers use similar playbooks.

ESPN will not let you move Sean to FS they have him in as a SS and you cannot do anything about it

Madden is what the pros like and I agree. They have been at it long and now we have a gnat(ESPN) in our faces.

If you can show me where the counter trey is in Madden than I'll change my opinion.

Also, ESPN is not a gnat in Maddens face. ESPN is definately a contender now and Im glad becase Madden has gotten complacent. ESPN is chock full of all the plays that Gibbs likes to run and I've seen none in Madden. Yea the formations are close, but still not as many as ESPN.

I dont know if you've played ESPN's franchise mode, but it is A LOT better than Maddens. Cville go to http://www.ign.com and read their review. You'll see a lot of what Im mentioning.

Actually Im going to break this down.

Running Game: ESPN
Passing Game: Madden
Runblocking: ESPN
Passblocking: Push
Ball flight mechanics: Madden
Defensive line: Push
LB's: Madden
Safeties: Madden
Kicking: Madden

On offense ESPN is great. The running game is great and IMO a lot more fun than Maddens. Fun doesn't mean its easier. Its not easy to run on ESPN on its top setting, but the blocking AI is A LOT MORE INTELLIGENT than in Madden.

The passing game sucks in ESPN. I feel like Im throwing the ball on the moon somewhere. Madden wins easily. The pass blocking is adequate for both games.

On defense I dont really like ESPN too much. Its not bad but like I sad a few weeks ago, the AI will do all the work for you. In Madden you can participate and make a difference. Also in ESPN its EXTREMELY hard to read plays. You never seem to be able to figure out what might happen, in Madden if you play safety, you can read the plays easily as they unfold.

As far as franchise, ESPN is beyond fun. I haven't played this years Madden yet. But if it hasn't changed much from last years, Ill give ESPN the nod easily. Madden's franchise dealt more with being an owner and stadium maintenance. ESPN deals with having your players study film, lift weights, etc. throughout the week.

I have played both and like madden franchise better. It has nore control and while madden started and perfected it ESPN has just caught on.

Try I form double TE. The RB counters to the right and shots left. Drag a TE on the side that the RB will shot and there you have it or it similarities.

Well, Cville. The best thing that you can do for yourself is to rent them both and see which you like more. I'd say buy them both, thats what I did. Skincity, or my opinions dont mean anything because we aren't you.

Skincity, I'll try that tonight. Maybe when I get home around 11:30pm est. we can run a game?

I agree the runng game on ESPN is fun because on the hardest settings you can get over 150 yards a game playing 5 min qtrs.

Madden went after the more advanced gamer this year. The gameplay proves it. Its not your typical pick up and dominate game. It will challenge you for months, not days.

Hey my record on line is 1-1, I lost to a diconnect and won the game :? Its weird. I won two and no one scored on me. The first game I had 123 yards running and the second game I had only 58.

Lavar on this game is a absolute beast. He dominated in both game and I will get the New sack trophy soon. EA is giving out certain reward Icons for accomplisments. Its awesome.

Madden this year is like Chess.
