Nearly 1,000 D.C. Youth Visit Camp

August 5, 2004

Nearly 1,000 children from Washington, D.C.'s summer recreational programs attended the Redskins Training Camp Built by The Home Depot on Thursday. The children had the unique opportunity to experience the excitement of Redskins football and each child received a 2004 Redskins Read activity book.
The visit was sponsored by the Children and Youth Investment Trust Corporation and the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation.

This group of D.C. youth that visited training camp on Thursday is just one of dozens of local youth organizations that will visit Redskins Park this summer to watch practice.

The Children and Youth Investment Trust Corporation is an organization that links public and private resources to strategically address the long term needs of children, youth and families in the District of Columbia.

Founded in 2000, by Redskins owner Daniel M. Snyder, the mission of the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation is to utilize the assets of the Washington Redskins and its corporate and community partners to make a positive and measurable impact on youth in the greater Washington, D.C. region in the areas of literacy, youth development, education and community service.

Sounds like DS is making some better community moves these days. Roy Jefferson was there last Sunday with a group of kids from Chernoble (sp?), very cool. Side note: loved to watch Roy when I was a youngster catching passes from Sonny or Billy.

leaving now before I feel too old.
