Cheerleader Swimsuit Calendar Released!
July 29, 2004
Since 1998, the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders have strived to produce the best swimsuit calendar in the National Football League. Each year, the squad travels to an exotic location in the Caribbean and the end result is breathtaking pictures of the most beautiful women in sports entertainment.

The 2004-05 calendar is the seventh that the Redskins Cheerleaders have produced. The cheerleaders released the calendar on Thursday, July 29 at the Redskins Cheerleaders Swimsuit Calendar Release Party, hosted by Elliott in the Morning and DC101, at the Clarendon Ballroom in Arlington, Va.
The preparation for the 2004-05 Swimsuit Calendar began several months ago when the team began searching for the perfect location to shoot the calendar. It would not only need to have picturesque beaches and grounds, but it would also have to accommodate the contingent of 42 Cheerleaders and a staff of almost 20 people.
With the help of Apple Vacations, the team found the perfect spot in the Bahia Principe Punta Cana located in the Dominican Republic. The resort had just opened when Donald Wells, the director of the Redskins Cheerleaders, went to scout out locations for the photo shoots.
"I had a lot of new and creative ideas that I wanted to be able to do this year and I found perfect locations that would help me get those shots," Wells said.
Once again, famed photographer Richard Hume shot the calendar. Hume has shot previous calendars for supermodels Brooke Burke, Naomi Campbell and Kathy Ireland, to name a few.
"Richard makes each of us feel like a supermodel," said Courtney, a nine-year cheerleading veteran.
This year, the squad received swimwear from Speedo, BeBe, Becca, Robin Picone, Esprit, Lucky Brand, Daffy, Poko Pano, California Waves, and Diza Lenda.
"I was thrilled by all the choices we had when selecting the perfect suit for each of the cheerleaders," Well said.
Aiming to help make the calendar even more unique, Diza Lenda went the extra mile and created handmade suits for each cheerleader.
This year, the calendar will feature not one, but two body-painted swimsuits. Each one is a work of art that took several hours to create. Michelle Raabe created these suits by using acrylic paints and other accessories to make them realistic.
