The Washington Redskins are expected to finalize a contract for first-round pick Sean Taylor today, according to sources with knowledge of the situation, and the safety could be at Redskins Park for the second day of passing camp tomorrow.

Released JULY 21, 2004
The sides are scheduled to continue negotiating the few minor points of the contract later this afternoon and there is a sense among team officials and Taylor's agents that a contract will be completed during that discussion.

"We're anxious to pick up with discussions and ideally move toward having a deal completed today," said Jeffrey Moorad, one of Taylor's representatives, in a phone interview. "Certainly we don't have a deal done at this point, but I feel it's appropriate to say that we have moved toward getting something done."

Vinny Cerrato, the Redskins' vice president of football operations, declined to comment but sources close to the team indicated there are few major issues left to hash out and the primary aspects of the contract have been agreed upon. Taylor is expected to sign a seven-year deal today, with a signing bonus in the range of $15 million.

I'm really glad to hear about this. If Taylor gets into camp on time that would really make me feel better about the guy and some of the concerns many of us have started to have about him!

You have to give Dan Snyder alot of credit too if they get him into camp on time. Coach said he didn't want any holdouts and it seems like Snyder and Cerrato are doing their part to make it happen.
