Miami would never go for it but I say offer the Dolphins Betts and our 1st round pick next year for Ogunleye..probably end up saving a few dollars next year in not having a 1st round pick and you still have The Rock and Sultan on your roster..Ladell is good but a little injury-prone

Don't give them the 1st rounder too, make it a 2nd at best. They are desperate.

No thats only the Skins organization as of late that like to give up their draft picks of players.

they dont have a 2nd rounder to give next year. dolphins probably wouldnt even take a 1st rounder with betts...they will want samuels and a 1st rounder.

This whole premise is based around the idea that the Dolphins are desperate for a runner with Ricky retiring...

Ah Gambit, the self-delusion goes on. How about over-paying for a has-been RB like Eddie George when your first draft pick was supposed to be the next great Dullass RB?

We didnt overpay for Ricky, we gave him just alittle bit more then he was to get with the Titans, beside we were sitting on 9-10 million, and he is a quaility back up as well as a good locker room and on the field leader and a good guy. Over paying for a guys is when you have little money and lots of holes and you go out and get a 34 year old QB or a one time pro-bowl CB that is injury prone. I guess we will see how much of a has been he is when he is running over you defensive line. on the 27 of September.

I think you meant Eddie Gambit.
Time will tell and I don't think Eddie was a bad move for the Cowgirls, Ricky screwed Miami that's for sure by waiting so late to bolt. I would have rather seen George go to them than Dallas.
Don't give up a #1 is all I have to say about this thread.

I thought Ricky went to smoke "the pot" Japan? When did he sign with the 'girls???

I doubt Miami would take Betts and our third rounder because they gave up two number ones to get Ricky.
Now, loosing one of their sack machines for a decent running back that has been injury prone is not going to fly unless we offer them our first rounder. That way if Betts doesn't pan out they can at least draft a runningback next year. They'll have two number ones to trade up if there is a really good one available or they can draft a defensive end and a running back in the first round to fill their holes.
That is my two cents on this.

Hey Redeemed, please don't attribute a Gambit quote to me again, it makes me feel dirty and ignorant.

SORRY ABOUT the Ricky, My head is still spinning from him deciding to retire as the rest of his teammates are packing up for training camp.

Back on the thread topic: How about Betts and Rod Gardner for O-gun, and we keep our draft pick to get the other book-end DE next year?

We started the trend, but we ain't the only team giving up draft picks anymore! If you look at Gibbs' track record he traded a couple of 1st rounders in the past, so I wouldn't put it past him.

Ooooooh, good comeback! You really burned me there.

Ogunleye

If we just happen to catch the Dolphins in a vulnerable moment we might convince them that they can repair some of the damage of Ricky retiring by ridding themselves of another headache (Ogunleye's holdout) and get some quality depth at RB. Of course they'll want draft picks but whether it will take a first rounder or not is questionanle. Maybe a conditional pick which could be a first rounder if Ogunleye makes the Pro Bowl or something. Point is, there is an opportunity here which did not exist before Ricky's retirement. So if the Ogunleye issue was dead, it shouldn't be now.

You have to try, though. Especially when a team is desperate.

Awaiting guests, eh?
