LaVar's Party Irks Neighbors

Redskins' star Arrington's loud party irks neighbors
By JEFF HORSEMAN, Staff Writer
As one of the NFL's premier linebackers, LaVar Arrington plays football with a high-speed intensity matched only by his vocal personality.

That attitude may have carried over to a party Saturday near the Washington Redskins star's home on Whitehall Creek near St. Margaret's, enraging at least one neighbor who complained of ear-splitting music and reckless boating.

George Fennell said the trouble started around 3 p.m. with a thumping baseline emanating from the waterfront home on Cedar Lane Farm Road on the Broadneck Peninsula. He said he saw a large tent and hundreds of people at the house.

Mr. Fennell, who said he lives about 1,000 yards away from the residence across the creek, reported partygoers on jet skis driving at high speeds. One jet ski zoomed close to a canoe, he said.

"They were running them like you'd run them out on the (Chesapeake) bay," he said.

When he went to confront the homeowner - he said he didn't know it was Mr. Arrington - Mr. Fennell said he saw limousines, sports cars and SUVs in a line waiting to get inside.

After being rebuffed by security guards in front of the house, Mr. Fennell said he called county police. However, police this morning had no record of a call pertaining to the house's address in more than a year.

Mr. Fennell of Holly Drive said he also called state Natural Resources Police, which dispatched a patrol boat. The boat checked out the scene before turning around, Mr. Fennell said.

DNR this morning could not confirm whether police responded to a call in the area.

State property records show a LaVar R. Arrington purchased the home for $3.5 million in March.

Neither the Redskins nor Mr. Arrington's agent, Carl Poston, could be reached for comment this morning, although a woman at Mr. Poston's office confirmed the agent was at the party.

Mr. Fennell said the 11,000-square-foot home

had been vacant for quite some time.

Other neighbors reported hearing loud music from the party. Bob Murphy of Holly Drive described the music as reggae-style but said he wasn't bothered by it.

"It was clearly a large gathering," he said.

Charles Thomann of Laurel Lane said he heard the noise, which may have led to a glass ceiling tile falling in the bathroom of his home.

Mr. Thomann also reported seeing the jet skis. He said he motioned one to come over and reminded the driver to operate it safely. He said the driver was very polite, and Mr. Thomann asked him if he could get the music turned down.

After receiving several calls from irate neighbors, Mr. Thomann said he went over to the home around 9:30 p.m. He said he spoke with a security guard at the home, who told him the party was celebrating someone's birthday.

According to his online biography, Mr. Arrington was born on June 20, 1978.

Mr. Thomann said he went over yesterday with a wine bottle and birthday card and rang the doorball. He said he looked inside and found the place was empty, without even furniture.

Like Mr. Murphy, Mr. Thomann said he wasn't particularly upset with the party. "It was annoying but not obnoxious," he said.

On the other hand, Mr. Fennell wondered if Mr. Arrington got special treatment because of his celebrity status.

"If I'm doing 7 knots in Whitehall Creek, and a DNR boat comes by, I'm going to get pulled over," he said.

point one, lavar probably had all the permits pertaining to the party. from past experience of my own, when you're involved in throwing a big bash, these permits allow you to party LEAGALLY

point two, obviously the neighbors have too much spare time on their hands and their heads too far up their own :moon: if they are worried about whats going on next door. they probably have annoying get-togethers as well, but can't look the other way when its their own turn to ignore it.

Maybe you didn't read it correctly...

When does the weekend start on a Wednesday?

When you're Washington Redskins' linebacker LaVar Arrington and San Francisco 49ers' linebacker Julian Peterson, and it's your birthday, the party starts when you say it does.

In conjunction with PSP Sport Agency, the birthday ballers celebrated their 4th annual celebrity, five-day weekend extravaganza in style.

Invited guests included New England Patriots' CB Ty Law, Oakland Raiders' CB Charles Woodson, Minnesota Vikings' LB E.J. Henderson, Detroit Lions' WR Charles Rogers, Philadelphia Eagles' WR Terrell Owens, Carolina Panthers' CB Chris Gamble, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers' RB Charlie Garner.

The first few days of fun and games took place at a few metro D.C. hot spots such as Ginger Cove and Strike Bowling Alley. Then, on Saturday, those who survived (and were still upright and functioning) headed over to shoot some hoops and raise funds and public awareness about AIDS/HIV at Big Tigger's 3rd Annual Celebrity Classic and All-Star Basketball game, held a George Washington University.

Next, party-goers flocked back to Arrington's southern Maryland lake house estate for a barbecue birthday bash. As guests arrived, adhering to the the all-white dress code, beautiful women in grass skirts handed out leis to welcome them. And Arrington's perfectly manicured lawn quickly began to resemble a luxury car dealership.

In the backyard, the cool temperatures didn't deter many from enjoying the lake with water sports and jet skiing (unless, you're running back Clinton Portis, who kept stalling his).

But those who preferred to remain land-locked were entertained with drinks, music, conversation, and ... well, diamonds.

On the back deck, Manhattan's "It" jeweler Gabriel Jacob's set up a booth displaying diamond-studded watches from Avianne & Co. for purchase. And while players such as Charles Woodson and Charlie Garner indulged, others like Philadelphia Eagles' RB Brian Westbrook only looked on and admired.

The after-party, held at D.C.'s luxurious waterfront night club H2O, was conspicuously located next door to Big Tigger's after-party at Zanzibar. "Chaotic" is the best way to describe the scene of wall-to-wall partiers. Both clubs filled to capacity, as ballers like Philadelphia Sixers' Allen Iverson, Washington Wizards' Larry Hughes, Baltimore Ravens' Travis Taylor, Buffalo Bills' Lawyer Malloy, Houston Texans' Jamie Sharper, and his brother Green Bay Packers' S Darren Sharper shut down the waterfront.

Hey, it's a tough job, but someone's got to do it.

Until the next big event ... Peace.

Mz. Banks

All I know is, one time it was 30 minutes before a game, and LT hadn't showed up, so two of his teammates went to his place and found him on the ground because he almost overdosed on cocaine. They dragged him to the stadium, he suited up, and had two sacks that day.

I'm not sure what all this means, but I've started doing a few lines before I play touch football with my buddies. Results have been mixed...

Well, Lavar is living among the "uptight Annapolis crowd" now....so I'm sure there will be many more complaints....although I thought the guy who's ceiling tile fell and broke was cool when he brought over a bottle of wine and a birthday card...Ha ! Oh...and there's also an old people's home called Ginger Cove - I bet they brightened up that place !!! HA !!!

Hooray for me.......this is my 500th Post !!! =D>

Cheers to Lavar...Gibbs sent them all home a day early for good work, I am glad Lavar and the other pros are chillin this month...too bad Lavar has prick neighbors.

The good news is that those neighbors are not his real neighbors...that is his "lake house"....his full-time residence is in Fairfax (closer to Redskin Park)...he was having a HUGE home last winter. So, the lakehouse neighbors better get used to it, cause that is going to be Lavar's "Party Hizzouse"

I went to University of Miami and I doubt Ray Ray cut his partying down. Everyone at UM party's hard. Believe me I heard stories about him. The Cowboys don't party yeah right. Athletes make millions of dollars and can have any woman they want. But there so disciplined that they don't LOL. Get in the real world.

See the typical blind fan, I guess it is cool to do this type of thing when Coach Gibbs let you off early, but this is the normal behavior all year round even during the season, but what do I know. I have only been saying this since ummmm all hell I dont know. But I wonder deep down inside how many of you will be on Mr #56's jock, when something negative comes about from his parting ways.

This is LaVar's vacation time. The whole league is off right now. Who cares if he parties now. In about one month he won't be partying like this for a real long time.

He needs to enjoy his time off while he has it!!! I know I would.

What in the blue blazez are u talking about, I never mention Ray Ray and the University of Miami and partying in the same thread. I am talking about Ray Ray AFTER the orange jump suit incident.

Redskin rule , I understand what you saying but believe me the only reason it was in the papers like this is because of all the charity events and high profile atheletes, but what i am trying to tell you HOMERS is that this is what Mr 56 does all year round , and this is a contributor to his performance. His physical presence has been getting him by so far but he is not with out fault or failure. His mental side of the game is seriously lacking due to this, and because of his money and status he is a bigger target.

As long as he shows up to play every Sunday like John "Big Diesel" Riggins or Dexter Manley I don't care what he does on his off time. But if what you say is true about this affecting his game you can bet that Coach Gibbs will put an end to it or trade him.

Lets see what happens.

Who cares if a grown man wants to throw a party at his house during the DAY. All the guy is who is complaining is just one of the those a**hole neighbbors I'm sure we have all had from time to time. It's the off season for the Lavar and it is the summer. Why not enjoy yourself. Who the hell cares if he wants to throw a party for his friends legally. I guess for one, his neighbors have a lot of time on their hands, and second, the journalists who wrote this dosen't have anything better to do then write about a freakin party at someones house. If he was throwing a party like this the day before a big game, I would be concerned, but last time I checked its freakin JUNE.
