In anticipation of getting Francis from Houston, the Magic also have talked to the Washington Wizards about a deal involving point guard Gilbert Arenas and former No. 1 pick Kwame Brown. Francis played his college basketball at the University of Maryland, and he would give the Wizards a much-needed public relations boost.

Oh I don't know about that. This is like Webber/Wallace all over again.
Francis isn't that good. And while Arenas is an overrated ball-hog, we can't let Kwame go. We just can't...

I beg to differ.
Francis is pretty good and I would love to have him. Arenas isn't overrated. He just gets a lot of coverage by the local media b/c he is (was) the best player on the team. He is a ball hog but gradually passed the ball more as the season went on (because Kwame called him out).
I wouldn't mind getting rid of Kwame. Plus, we're going to be going after size when it comes to the Draft and Free Agency.
With all that said, I would hate to see Arenas go. We don't have any other quality guys that could be traded for Francis. The Wiz better get more in return if they even think about letting Arenas go.

Francis can't match Arenas's output alone.
How many times do we have to get burned on trading a young big man before we realize we have to let them develop?
Kwame is 21 for crying out loud. He showed a lot of promise at the end of last season, and you know if we trade him he's going to be a perennial all-star...

Kwame shouldn't go. If we could get Ekezie and Francis, we'd really be rolling with the former Terps, though.

Exactly... that's why there are so many good former Wizards/Bullets... because we traded all of them before their prime and they became good. What's one more?

That's certainly how Wes Unseld seems to look at things...

Unseld hasn't been in charge for about a year. Grunfeld is the man making the moves.
But don't worry. I think Eddie Jordan said that Kwame is going to be the starting center.

I know Grunfeld is in charge, and thank God. I love Wes as much as the next guy for everything he gave this franchise as a player, but he was a horrendous general manger...

I like Francis but he has to be the biggest cry baby in the league. He tells ball clubs where he will play. Last time I checked, he did not own a team. He should be glad to play where he is called upon to play. His turnovers have got to stop. He would be a nice addition but I think Arenas is better. He shows up every night, if hes not hurt.

Yes Unseld was a horrible coach and the Worst GM of all time! I dont like this trade offer at all! I dont want to give up on Kwame yet he is only 21! I dont want to groom him and then ship him off! As much as I love Steve Francis Arenas is only 21 and is very good! Arenas yes was a ballhog but Francis had the same problem not getting the ball to Yao enough! Arenas contract is very huge so is Jamisons if there were to consider this trade they better not give up Kwame! I dont want to see Kwame going away and becoming a superstar IE Ben Wallace etc

Get this deal done. While Gilbert is good, Francis is an all star. I will not miss Kwame.
