Dolphins Not Interested In Dealing Ogunleye

Image

The Miami Dolphins despite getting interest from the Jacksonville Jaguars and Washington Redskins have no desire to deal the disgruntled All Pro defensive end. No team as of writing this, have no interest in dealing a first rounder for Ogunleye and Miami is firm on receiving that from any team interested in the Pro Bowl defensive end. The Redskins have reportedly offered receiver Rod Gardner and a first round draft pick in next years draft. If a deal to restructure with Miami falls through by training camp, the Dolphins may have no choice to either trade or let Ogunleye sit out all season but Ogunleye can't be traded until re-signing with the Dolphine due to the team owning his exclusive rights in the 2004 season.

That's what I thought it would cost the Skins, silly to think it will take less.

I can't believe Miami would turn it down.

OK, maybe its just me, but who ever wrote this says

No team as of writing this, have no interest in dealing a first rounder for Ogunleye and Miami is firm on receiving that from any team interested in the Pro Bowl defensive end.

Then in the next sentence he says

The Redskins have reportedly offered receiver Rod Gardner and a first round draft pick in next years draft.

So basically, they are exactly the same except different.

of course they're not interested. if i were the dolphins, i'd say i'm not interested in a trade either. one of my suitors may decide that i'm serious and up their offer.

the way i see it, the 'phins are in a bind. if they don't sign ogunleye to a long term deal (which doesn't look likely), he'll be gone next year with zero compensation (unless they franchise him). PLUS, if he sits out most this year, they'll lose him for that stretch of time too, not to mention that he'll be less than motivated for the games he does show up for. so, the way i see it, if they don't trade him now, they lose him altogether and get nothing for him. but they're trying to make it look like they have the upper hand, so they're playing hard to get.

i too agree that i'd prefer to spend that first rounder on a young cheap rookie next year.

The only problem is that the Redskins will have the 32nd pick in the draft next year. :P

Why not? The Redskins gave up a 3rd round pick for Mark Brunell when no other team in the league wanted to give up anything.

They THREW IN a HIGH 2nd round pick in a Champ Bailey for Clinton Portis trade.

The gave up a 5th round pick for James Thrash when no other team in the league wanted to trade anything for him.

They gave up a 4th round pick last year for a RB who was a THIRD STRINGER in Trung Canidate.

They threw in draft picks for borderline NFL caliber players in Lionel Dalton and Martin Chase.

And they traded away their 1st round pick the year before.

Welcome to the Redskins. That's how they do business. They offer eye-popping trades to other teams FOR A REASON. Of course, the franchise never wins, so it certainly is left up to debate as to whether they know what they heck they're doing. Nevertheless, it's what the team does. That offer doesn't even begin to surprise me.

And what team do you like? Maybe you can teach our front office the tricks and the trades of NFL success. Please enlighten us with more of your wisdom. I have my pen and pad handy, ready to take notes. Thank you Chalktalk for taking the time to educate us spent thrifts.

:-& ok thats the second post of yours i've read that makes sense.
:puke: you're right, i agree, we still haven't won a thing, except the offseason, but what else is new? a defensive end could only add to the mix. ;)

I agree that we need to stop throwing away our draft picks. I also agree that our front office isn't the best, although we surely aren't the worst. I wish we had an O. Newsome (spelling), the guy from the Ravens. He's a monster and I envy the Ravens. They have a guy who can spot CHEAP YOUNG TALENT!!! Something our front office cannot do. We tend to go after players past their prime and over-pay.

Lets let Gregg do his thing, and pick up someone in the draft!

The Redskins don't have a 2nd round pick next year. That was traded for the Saints 3rd round pick this year (Chris Cooley).

And really, this is all just bullplop. Bullplop, I tell ya. The Dolphins wouldn't have any interest in Rod Gardner. They just traded for David Boston and they have Chris Chambers, there would be no point in acquiring Rod Gardner. That wouldnt justify this.

And if the Redskins traded their #1 straight up ( a deal I would definately consider if I were the Dolphins because the Skins pick anywhere from the middle of the first round on up every year), the Redskins would be without their #1, their #2, and their #5 draft picks for next season.

So I dont think the REDSKINS are willing to be that short on draft picks after being short on them the last 2 seasons.

So, the only way I see this as a possibility is if the Dolphins ask for the same name they were asking for months ago.....

Let's just call him Patrick R. Wait, that might give it a way. Let's call him, P. Ramsey.

That's the only way a deal like involving the Dolphins DE would and/or could happen.

(the dolphins would subsquently cut fiedler possibly and the redskins could cut wynn).

Considering the Dolphins traded a second round pick for Feeley I doubt they're looking to trade for another ... even if he is better.

Gun would be a good maybe even a great addition but... look at all the fun we had debating who we should the 1st pick on this year Taylor...KW2...Taylor....KW2....Taylor
we'll miss that next year if we give up our first round pick even if it is no 32 overall Didn't we get P-ram at #32

If we offered the 1st round pick and they turned it down they shouldn't get another crack at it

Maybe Rod and a 3rd rnd pick but the closer to training camp the lower the pick

1st round pick alone I'd have to think about
.
.
.
.
NOPE they had their chance NO DO OVERS

Thats a good post there chalk talk. With all of that being said I gotta think this trade won't happen now. At least not with the Redskins and Miami. We won't trade Patrick Ramsey. Coach Gibbs has been clear that he wants two capable starters at quarterback. And since our other draft picks will be to low for them.......This trade just won't happen not even if we trade iffy to them with our next best pick.

I would look for him to be available at the end of the season. Since only one other team is reportedly interested in him. I can hope that he will be available where we can pick him up for free. And then use our number 1 pick on a pass rusher on the other side.

Lets see what happens!!!

We will give you fiedler, He is a caplable starter he has like a .700 win percentage he just gets hurt 6 games a year.

Well, He did come in the second half a light up the Skins this year. He is a good QB but he gets hurt too much. He we be a very capable backup for Brunell.
