Two teams interested in Ogunleye

Two teams seeking to upgrade their pass rush have an interest in trading for Adewale Ogunleye if the Dolphins place the Pro Bowl defensive end on the trading block.

An NFL source said Sunday that Washington is "definitely" curious about acquiring Ogunleye, who is threatening a lengthy holdout if the Dolphins don't sign him to a long-term contract extension. The Florida Times-Union reported last week that Jacksonville also is closely monitoring the situation.

The Dolphins have not actively pursued trying to trade Ogunleye this offseason, but that could change if an impressive offer is made, especially in light of Ogunleye being unsigned and no contract agreement imminent.

Chicago had shown interest in Ogunleye before April's NFL Draft, but the Bears were unwilling to part with the first- and third-round picks. The NFL deadline then passed for teams to sign Ogunleye to an offer sheet as a restricted free agent, giving the Dolphins his exclusive rights for the 2004 season.

Ogunleye couldn't be traded until re-signing with the Dolphins.

He would likely refuse to sign under a trade scenario unless a suitor was willing to offer a multi-year contract with an eight-digit signing bonus.

"There's nothing new with negotiations but we're keeping an optimistic approach," agent Drew Rosenhaus said Sunday night.

Give them a receiver or two, HB, TE, maybe a draft pick for next year, it doesn't matter which one. Let's get this deal done. I wounder if Samuels will take a pay cut to make this happen?

Thats not to say that if he comes to washington he would be as effective as he was in Miami. Two different teams all together. Miami's Secondary is better then the skins and he does play the opposite side of Jason Taylor.

Two first round draft picks will be his price.

Gardner and a second round could get it done. No way anyone gives 2 first round picks for ugunleye. maybe they will have to throw in another late round pick or a young player for it to happen.

I don't think the Skins should go after this guy. All his decent games as far as sacks go came against weak AFC East O Lines. Anytime he went up against decent RTs, he wasn't as big a factor.

I don't care if he is as effective as he was in Maimi. It is irrelevant. Ugunleye is a HUGE upgrade to our D-line no matter what. That's like saying Portis might not be as good because we don't have an 0-line like Denver. It doesn't matter, Portis is a HUGE upgrade to our offense.

Sorry Gambit for going off subject with the Portis thing....lol

He would be just like "Kearse", a name that will make offenses adjust for a just in case he does have a good game.

All I'm saying is that with all the talk about our d-line being suspect, this guy will give our d-line some if not a lot of respect around the league. Wasn't he the leading sacker in the AFC? Philly got Kearse and people are thinking Super Bowl. We get Ugunleye, people are going to have to re-evaluate that one.

Philly Got Kearse, but they did not have to give up any draft pics, plus they have a very good line. Also I think people are putting to much into the Philly getting Kearse and Owens. They lost some key players in the secondary, although the fill ins did good last year while some of them were hurt, but coordinators will find ways to expose them this year. Also their LB corp is not as strong as it used to be.

Ugunley would cost a first round and a third round. The talent on the skins D-line is not comparable to the Dolphins. You would be giving up 2 picks and lots of money for a guy that would need better lineman on the D-line in order for him to make any type of impact.

How good is Miami's reciever corps??? I know they have Chris Chambers, but do they have anyone else? If not, then we can trade Gardner to them for this guy.

I want him here just so I'd have to say that name.

They have David Boston, Derrius Thompson, Sam Simmons, J.R. Tolver, and a few more.

As far as Ogunleye goes, I like him but it would require a lot to get him. Will he be able to make it on his own on this line? W/ Williams' defense... probably. But how are we going to be able to afford him for what he's asking?

For his price I would rather get someone else.
I would rather use next years 1st round pick on an End instead of paying a guy that got help from Jason Taylor....

this guy is way over-hyped...thanks to Rosenhaus

Too much cost. I agree with Oafsup...wait till next draft to get a stud DE. We've already spent the $$ this offseason.

Theres not gonna be any stud DE's next season. Theres gonna be some solid ones but the closest to a "stud" is that guy from Boston College and hes gonna be a top ten pick. Hopefully we wont have a top ten pick lol.

would be an improvement. but he plays LE. does that mean wynn would be out, or would it still be a rotation involving wynn at end and tackle?
it would be great to get a little threat on the line, but we can't keep going off the deep end for big names. but our line is weak, and i would welcome this move.

think about this 3rd down line scenario.... ogunleye, griffin, daniels, arrington.....

I agree with Gambit. This guy is a good young player but his stats are way up because he's playing opposite Jason Taylor. It seems obvious that the Dolphins believe this too!

I'd love to have this player, definite upgrade to what we have! But hopefully no dumb trades for him.

I can't believe that there is so many against this move. So many posts on what to do with our d-line. Get this bum, this bum, and June 1st cuts. Here we have a sure thing, a guy who is known and everyone wants to pass. He is the best out there hands down. We have a lot of everything, let's trade the extra's and get on with it. Although, I think Samuels would have to take a pay cut. Maybe another.

If we can get him that would be awesome. I would be willing to give up a 1st round draft pick for him.

You wouldn't give a 1st rounder for him? He's awesome. A pass-rushing DE is our biggest need right now. I don't think there will be a DE in next years draft that will be as talented as Ogul.. however you spell it. If there is a DE thats good in next years draft, he'll be in the top 10. Hopefully we won't be drafting that high. Besides, Ogul is proven, rookies are not.

I think Ogunuele is counterfeit.
No Jason Taylor...no Ogunuele

He has the right to try to get paid...but the Skins should not fall for it. The Dolphins are trying to pull a "Sean Gilbert" (like what the Skins did to the Panthers a few years ago).

I think Greg Williams will do a hell of a job....he did not have a beast pass rusher in Buffalo last year and they were ranked #2. Compensation for this guy would set us back and he is NOT a guarantee since it is very possible that his teamates on the Dolphins D-Line helped his numbers.

Miami is blowing this deal - I think they'll settle for MUCH less than the pre-draft offer with Chicago. This kid can play, he's young and talented. I haven't heard about his character - which is critical (for a change).

Would you rather have Gardener or Ogunleye? If you HAD TO PICK ONE :0)

I think I'd do a straight up trade for Gardener and Ogunleye. That trade could hurt us if Coles isn't 100% and has to sit out. But if Coles is 100% we have enough quality depth to not miss Gardnener.
