I need a couple websites that talk about that one time Gibbs assembled a strike team in a week then went on to beat an almost full strength Cowboy team.
Thankyou.

I don't have a pointer to a website about this game, but I was at this game since at the time I was living in Dallas. To say that it was an almost full strength Cowboys team is a bit of a stretch. Of course that season was one of two stike shortened ones ('87 if memory serves me correctly). Washington had had NO defections across the strike line. However, Dallas on the other hand had named superstar players defect which included Randy White, and Tony Dorsett. Randy and Tony defected because they had incentive clauses that year, and if they didn't play, they wouldn't make them, so they crossed the line.
As you stated, Gibbs assembled a team, as did the other franchises, and they went on to beat the Cowboys in Texas stadium with all replacement "scab" players. A fond memory indeed.

If I remember correctly, the first game the scabs played in was against the Cardinals. The Giants were the 2nd week and the Cowboys were the 3rd and final opponent the strikers played against. I remember the Cowboys had Danny White at QB and Dorsett at RB, but I can't remember whom else crossed the picket line.

Smithian...
You've got your work cut out for you, mister. I'll tell you, even the media guide from 1988 doesn't provide a full-roster list of the replacement players. In fact, that ridiculous Keanu Reeves/Gene Hackman film "The Replacements" provides some of the only remaining clues. Read on.
I can only remember a few names. I had to look them up, which was time consuming...but I'd do it again for you.
Anthony Allen WR #89
Dan Blenish DT, #95
Darrick Brilz G #75
Joe Caravello TE #88
Mark Carlson T #79
Eric Coyle C #56
Steve Gage S #48
Tim Jessie RB #21
Craig McEwen TE #98
Dennis Woodberry CB #46
Charles Johnson S #
Mike Mitchell CB $46
Anthony Copeland #57 LB
David Jones C #58
Jon Kimmel LB #50
Eric Wilson LB #59
Ray Hitchock C #59
Mike Wooten C #60
Willard Scissum G #61
Skip Lane S #39
Garry Kimble DB #34
Joe Cofer DB #36
Joh Cowne C #54
Phil Pettey G #62
Steve Thompson DE #67
Kit Lathrop DE #67
Henry Waechter DE #67
Curtis McGriff DE #74
Teddy Wilson WR #80
Richard Johnson WR #83
Joe Phillips WR #84
Keiron Bigby WR #84
Dave Truitt TE #85
Marvin Williams TE #86
K.D. Dunn TE #87
Glenn Dennison TE #89
Bobby Curtis LB #90
Tony Settles LB #91
Derrick Bunch LB #92
Anthony Sagnella, DT #94
Alec Gibson DE #96
Steve Martin DE #98
Ted Karras DT #99
Ed Rubbert QB #16
Obed Ariri K #5
Lionel Vital RB
Mike Mitchell CB #46
Tony Robinson QB #15
This is not an all-inclusive list. Numbers and players were swapped around.
It might interest you to know that the Dallas regulars who crossed the line included Danny White and Mel Renfro, along with Randy White and Tony Dorsett. No Washington regulars crossed the line.
Here's a snippet from the movie I mentioned above, with some great quotes.

Please, enjoy. I'm all tuckered out.

I wonder...what is it that you're trying to do ? Is it a report for school, or just curiosity ? 1987 was my second year in college, and I got some major ribbing about the "scabs". Didn't matter much to me. I was more than pleased that we went through a couple of division games as winners, and was more than vindicated at the end of the season with a SuperBowl victory !

Thanks TC - those names brought back some good memories...I guess if anyone wears the B&G they're in my heart forever.

Oh, man...for three whole games, they kept us alive. We owe them a debt of gratitude, if only the NFLPA would allow such a thing as an honoring ceremony during a game.

here's something I found on the Cowboys' web site. It is an article recapping the top 10 Redskins vs. Cowboys games of all time. The game you are looking for is ranked #10.
10. Sub-Skins Shocker
Redskins 13, Cowboys 7, 1987
No team in the NFL had more players cross the picket line during the 1987 strike than the Cowboys, who were 2-0 with the "scab" players entering a showdown with the Redskins on Monday Night Football. Washington had also won their two games during the strike, but without any veterans. For this game the Cowboys had Danny White, Randy White, Tony Dorsett, Ed Jones among other veterans, but were upset by the rag-tag Redskins, 13-7, in a game former Washington head coach Joe Gibbs called "one of my greatest experiences and wins." The Redskins finished 3-0 with the replacements, the strike ending the following week. In 2000, Warner Bros. made a movie about the 1987 Redskins, titled "The Replacements," starring Keanu Reeves and Gene Hackman

Curiosity. The Art Monk thing was a school report. Oh yeah, I got a B+ on it... I was happy. Though, I found out afterwards thathe was a big football person, so he knew about it.

Figures that this one would be #10 on their list, even though it was one of Coach Gibbs' greatest experiences of all times.

I guess this one would be right up there on a similar Redskins list?

Yeah, the Cowboys won 7 of the 10 games they picked in their list of top 10 Redskins vs. Cowboys games.
I thought the game from 94 or 95 in RFK should have been on the list. I remember the Cowboys were on their own 2 yard line, Aikman fumbled in the end zone, Emmitt made a desperate attempt to shovel the ball out of the end zone, Danny Copeland recovered the fumble and then ran out to the 50 yard line to celebrate and Monte Coleman showed the refs Copeland had the ball at the 50 while they were trying to find it in the pile in the end zone.
Here is the link to the site if anyone is interested, but beware because it is the Dallas Cowboys' offical web site.

You know how many times I have to hear from a Dallas fan that we won superbowls in a strike year?????
I keep telling them about this game during a strike year, but I guess they blocked this game out of their minds. Because Redskin nobody's beat the crap out of their SUPERSTARS!!!!

hey TCWest ..... who was the replacement waterboy?????
Arn't some of those guys still in prison?
I saw a couple of them selling programs at Redskin Park.

The only people who needed replacements were Unionized players. I'm not sure who represents the waterboys. Probably Adam Sandler, by now.
Anyway, you'll find that a part of every demographic (except, possibly, "nuns") are still in prison. I'm also pretty sure you won't see many replacement players selling programs in stadiums. The Union would have a fit, even now.
You sound bitter. Because of those "waterboys" and "programhawkers", we got to the playoffs.
Credit where credit is due, my man. This, coming from a Teamster Shop Steward. If I can hang with it, you can hang with it.
