Vikings Ink Linebacker Keith Newman
Free-agent linebacker Keith Newman is a Minnesota Viking.
Newman saw significant time with the Atlanta Falcons last season. He is familiar with the strongside and weakside positions but may be asked to learn the middle spot. Newman will be playing for his third team in three seasons.
The move comes a day after coach Mike Tice expressed concern over the lack of depth at linebacker.
The depth concern was exacerbated over the weekend, when E.J. Henderson and Mike Nattiel were arrested along with tight end Steve Farmer after a fight outside a Minneapolis nightclub.
No charges were filed Tuesday, and all three players attended camp at Winter Park.
