D. Duane Cross... Fat Lenny P. in disguise?

What about the Redskins? The Falcons, not the Redskins, are contenders?
-- Matthew

I'm not buying into all the hoopla over Joe Gibbs' return. Like the folks in Missouri say: show me. Until then, yes the Falcons have a better shot at making the playoffs this year. Michael Silver did a piece for Sports Illustrated last week about Joe and the Space Cowboys. Anyone who believes Gibbs will turn it around in a year can pick up their space cadet membership card at the gate.

Are you kidding with a Super Bowl pick of Miami? The Dolphins have one of the worst head coaches in the NFL. They just lost their respected offensive coordinator and have had problems replacing him. They have no QB. Their star RB might be suspended for violating the NFL substance abuse policy. They've overhauled their O-line, which looks mediocre at best. And to top it all off, their defense is even older than it was last year! You'd think that they'd infuse it with young talent, but no. I don't even see them making the playoffs, let alone the Super Bowl! Get real. I could write a more convincing article on why the Redskins are going to win the Super Bowl than your schpeel about the Fins. At least the Redskins have a coach.
-- John, Virginia

Yep, the Skins have a coach, highly respected one, too. But Washington plays in the NFC -- and there are several teams in line for a Super Bowl berth before Joe's schmoes. Miami, on the other hand, plays in the AFC, and if the Dolphins can get past the Patriots (a big if, as I said), they have a better shot of getting to the title game than the Redskins in the NFC.

I was gonna post this article when I got him because I saw it at school (the teacher let us use the internet). B Duane Cross is an idiot. Him and Pasquarelli are probably co-conspirators.

"Joe's shmoees" - that's just disrespectful to a HOF coach. That article got my blood boiling.

Write his name down so when we have our winning season we can flood his inbox with tons upon tons of "I told you so, *insert explicitive!"!!!!

I agree. . .I don't know where the shmoes remark came from, as if our players are really that bad to begin with. Just who on our roster does he think is sub-NFL quality?

And not to knock the fins too much (not that I care for them, especially after that Monday night game this past year), but he didn't answer a single of the (good) points brought up against their team.

I'd throw on top that Miami has a pretty terrible fan base down there--they even had a playoff game blacked out a few years back I believe because of poor attendance to the game.

Personally, I think he's doing us a favor. too many people are expecting a first year miracle. I welcome some criticism. It'll help us fly in under the radar more. His remarks have some logic in them whereas Lenny "Pass the Jelly" just whines about Snyder. If we believed him we'd be 40 million over the Cap.

If your not buying into Gibbs than obviously he doesn't know what he is talking about.

Gibbs doesn't = automatic success.
Gibbs = a good fighting chance.

Norv = average chance
Marty = maybe a chance if given enough time
Spurrier = no chance at all

Yes Gibbs is an automatic upgrade, but his players have to execute and thats where its out of his hands.

The only way I'll scream, "Redskins, SUPERBOWL 2004!!!!" is if Danny clones 53 Joe Gibbs and adds them to our roster. We'd be set if he can play like he can coach!

If you only have to get in line to play in the Super Bowl, why play a whole season?

He says he is a reporter.... why dosnt he tell us whose in line ahead of us and how long they have benn there. How did New England get back up to the front of the line so quickly last year?(can you cut in line?) What place in line are we now? I'm sure other teams were lining up for this years Super Bowl while the game was being played last year..... when can we get in line,... where does the line start... is there a fee? what if you have to go to the bathroom can another team whole your place?

I real reporter would have answered these questions for us right after making a stupid a$$ statement like that

If Coach Gibbs read that article, he's probably getting Coy to email a big "Thank You" to Mr. Cross.
Joe loves that type of crap.

I think I remember, after the Super Bowl with Buffalo, some reporter saying something along these lines to Coach Gibbs.
"Hey, Joe. What about all that 'weak-sister' stuff before the game ?" (Joe had made many, many self-deprecating remarks about the skills of Jim Kelly, Andre Reed, Thurman Thomas and Bruce Smith, and the coaching prowess of one Marv Levy.)
Coach replied, "Yeah ! Worked, didn't it ? "
That's what I'm saying. Joe loves to see the media downplaying his team. It puts the other team at ease, which is exactly where we want them.
On their heels.

I'd like to have them believing we're the same pushovers from last season.

...as would Coach Gibbs.
Everything old is new again.
