I work with 4-5 cowgirls fans who don't shut up about gibbs. I think they're more excited about him then I am..
"Gibbs is too old" "Parcells owns him"
blah blah blah

I can't wait til we sweep them

Parcells owns him?

Does having two less superbowl wins indicate that you "own" somebody?

Well Parcell's doesn't own Gibbs but He has only 1 less SB win and He has a better record against Gibbs. Now that was then and this is now Parcells admits that Gibbs is one of the toughest coaches to prepare for and I for one expect Gibbs to start and even His record against Parcells this year.

Additionally, Parcells won't have Lawrence Taylor back there wreaking havok like he once did. LT probably still gives Gibbs nightmares till this very day. He was one variable that you could never really account for. I wonder what their head-to-head records were after Parcells left the Giants?

If we can pick up a few more D-Lineman come post June 1, I like our chances against the girls or anybody else.

They never faced each other after Parcells left the Giants. I'm making my prediction right now, I think we lose to the Cowboys the first time around but get sweet revenge in the rematch. Book it...

Yeah but he will have Roy Williams, and Terrance Newman. Parcells does hold an edge over Coach Gibbs in head to head games. JUST THE FAX MA'AM, JUST THE FAX.

Wait...did you just compare Terrance Newman to Lawrence Taylor?

LT could actually change the game for his team unlike Terrence Newman could for the opposing team. Terrence Newman got burned.....My memory is hazy.....How many touchdowns did Chris Chambers of Miami Dolphins catch against him?

2nd year cornerback, lawrence taylor, 2nd year corner back, lawrence taylor. Something just doesnt add up here. Are you really trying to say that terrence newman should even be mentioned with the likes of lawrence taylor. Give me break

Good news on Rick.

Gibbs is 6-11 vs Parcells (do strike games count?). The record was pretty equal until the last three years when Parcells ran off 6 straight. I remember the late 80s as a time when the giants would pound the Skins, the Skins would pound the iggles then the iggles would pound the giants. Then the 49ers would play some creampuff nfc west schedule and look like golden boys coming through the season unscathed and with home field advantage. For all of his success against Gibbs, Parcells couldnt beat Buddy Ryan to save his life. Those Giant and iggle defenses were awesome. The Giants had alot more than just LT - Carl Banks, Leonard Marshall, Harry Carson. Its great to see the rebirth of the NFC East as the premier division in football.

By the way, the Cowboys have a very good defense. I think it will be a home and home split this year. But Im hoping for the sweep. Both games will be low scoring brutal great games with scores like 13-9. I cant wait.

The Cowboys defense doesn't scare me. It didn't last year and it still doesn't this year. It doesn't scare me because the only talent I see on their defense is a good run stuffer, Dat Nguyen and a great hard hitting safety, Roy Williams. I don't think their defensive line is anything to worry about and I don't think Terrence Newman is all that. The reason why I say he's not all that is that he got burned about as much as Champ Bailey did last year. You can't get a title of a good shut down corner when you get burned for touchdown after touchdown when your up against a good reciever.

I have not seen the Cowboys take any drastic measures to upgrade their defense (especially their defensive line) so I'm still not scared of them.

There's no doubt the Cowboys have an excellent defense. Their defensive line may not be as good as the Carolina Panthers, but it is a hell of a lot better than ours.

Between Greg Ellis, La'Roi Glover (stud), Willie Blade and Marcellus Wiley (upgrade) the Cowboys should be just fine up front.

So don't get me wrong, you don't get ranked first overall in defense by doing nothing. I just don't think Parcells has a weapon like Lawrence Taylor on his squad. Which isn't a knock on the Cowboys; Taylor is one in ten million. LaVar Arrington (let alone Terrance Newsman) can't hold LT's jock strap...

You know what I think.......they played something like eight teams last year that didn't win more then 5 games. They had some good coaching to beat up on those guys. I think this year if they do just as good or make it in the top five then they will start to scare me. I just don't get scared when I see them beating up on crappy teams EIGHT TIMES!!!!! When they played good teams they got their butts kicked. With one exception to Caroline the first time they met.

Rank Team Def/G RuYd/G PsYd/G Rush Avg Lg TD Rec Yds Avg Lg TD PPG Int FR Tk/Gv
1. Dallas Cowboys 253.5 89.1 164.4 413 3.5 64 7 239 2820 11.8 76 18 16.3 13 12 -4

Sorry I didnt copy this very well but the point here is that the cowgirls do have a very good defense. Its certainly better than ours. You cannot improve on being #1. The only weakness I see on their defense is at the corner opposite Newman and overall depth at corner. If Wiley plays like he did a few years ago that defense will be downright scary. If he plays like he did last year it will still be an above average unit. Fortunately our offense is better than theirs is. You don't need a bunch of big names to be great on defense. Look at the Pats defenses recently and how great they were. the only great player on those defenses was Ty Law.

Hey Wandkwitham...I meant to welcome you to the site on my last post, but I didn't so...WELCOME TO THE SITE!!!!!!

You have a good point there in your posts. I just don't agree with it. At least not yet. Maybe I should be scared of them......but until they can do very well again this year I won't be.

Gibbs v. Parcells is going to be AWESOME!

Is that first matchup a Monday night game btw? Seems like a game Madden would be excited about.

As a matter of fact, yes it is !! September 27th. The heck with Madden. I'm excited !!
Oh, I can't wait to see Joe Gibbs on the sidelines again. There's no sense of impending doom if we trail at the half, because nobody (and I mean nobody)is better at the halftime adjustment than Joe Gibbs !!

I don't think that I've silenced Madden in order to listen to Sonny and Sam (Frank Forever :( ) since he left FOX. . .

Oh well, it certainly won't be the first time.

Oh, that's right, I'll be out of state. :(

Hmm, Madden, looks like you and I have got a date on the 27th. Just don't bring that Al guy along, it'll be real awkward that way

Newman led all starting corners last season by allowing only one touchdown. Ironically it was by his now teammate Keyshawn Johnson.

Chambers burned Mario Edwards last season.

I was watching that game Curveball. I could have sworn that Chambers caught three touchdowns that game. I could have sworn the first one was against Newman. The second was against that other guy, who sucks. The third I wasn't sure on.

I know that the Saints got a touchdown against him. I can't remember the reciever's name, but I do remember him tossing the ball to Newman after he scored. He was probably that same guy who did the stunt with the cell phone. Coles also caught one. I can't remember if that was man to man or not, I was just happy that he scored so we had a chance at making a comeback.

I know Carolina Panther's Steve Smith had one. That was man to man coverage. I remember Newman pushing him out of bounds trying to get the call, but the refs ruled it a catch and a touchdown.

No offense, but I think your wrong on that one touchdown thing. But he was just a rookie. Maybe this year he can play better and actually start to make me worry.
