D-line help.......

I'm hearing Daryl Gardner will be a June 1 casualty from the Broncos....sure would be nice to have him back plugging up the middle of our line. It also seems like we are always letting go of young, up and coming DE prospects (Ladarious Jackson, ND Kalu, Kenard Lang) for old broken down names (Bruce Smith and Regan Upshaw). Even with our free agent aquisitions our D-line is still hurting. I Don't want Lavar getting all banged up bashing up against OT's all year. He needs to be flying around free crushing people. Does anyone know of any DE prospects that are out there burried on someones roster or that will be released on June 1?

So which is it? Would you be happy if the Redskins were to resign Gardener after the Broncos release him, or would you be upset the the Redskins signed a 31 year old player who played in only 4 games and had only 5 tackles last year? Either way, it's a moot point because he is going to join Marvin Lewis in Cincy after the Broncos cut him on Tuesday.

Bringing Back Darryl Gardner would be a big mistake! He has an attitude problem, is over the hill and is getting up there in age! He is not coming here!

Daryl Gardener reached an agreement with the Bengals in April. He's not available, fortunately.

Our run Defense would still be better if we had kept him and he is as good if not better as any of our current linemen minus Griffin. D Gardner kicked ass as a Skin and was a big part of why our D was so good just two seasons ago (was'nt he our defensive MVP?) I don't remember him causing any problems here, to busy stuffing the run.....AND It would have been nice to have ND Kalu, Kenard Lang, or Ladarious Jackson still with the team instead of having to choose from the list of DE's available after June 1.

I guess that makes sense! I heard that him and Marvin Lewis got a long well!

No, we let Gardner go just at the right time. He had a big year for us after starting out as a (nearly) no name player, which also happened to be his contract year (I believe). Given his attitude problems and the fact that we would have had to pay a lot of money to keep the guy (plus as he was approaching the age when his usefulness would decline), it was best to let him go.

Judging from his stats last season, I'm very glad that we did. Just hope June 1st might bring us a little something more.

GB might get rid of Joe Johnson we could probaly get him but I hear the Jags like him also..why is Green Bay dumping him if it happens and whats up with Tony Brackens.

I know I'm here in Jville but if it's not Skins news it ain't important so I don't know why he hasn't resigned with the Jags.

He's staying in New York (New Jersey). They're going to use him as a linebacker a bit this year. I wanted him in March b/c I thought he was a FA #-o but I guess I'll have to wait. :x

Mark Curnutte, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports two sources outside of Denver have confirmed that the Cincinnati Bengals have agreed to terms with free agent DT Daryl Gardener (Broncos) on a four-year deal worth $9.3 million.

The Packers are getting rid of Johnson because he's always hurt they've paid him a considerable amount of money and he's played very few games with them the past few years.

That's a lot of money for a player who posted 5 tackles in a few games for his appearances last year. I'm guessing that contract is extremely backloaded?. . .

And because of his run-ins with the law.

Sam Adams would fill the line and he is as good as any DT we currently have other than Griffin. It would be worth the cash for him. Still hurts not having a fiery, hungry DE like we would have if we had kept Kenard, ND, or Jackson instead of letting them depart to keep Bruce Smith around past his prime.

Unlike many of the guys here, I can comfortably wait and see who Williams chooses to fill in any perceived run-coverage gaps. This guy knows the business of stopping opposing offenses. Plus, there's an awesome system of checks and balances. His picks have to go through a whole slew of old pro's before anybody is signed.
I'll just hang back and see what they do.

Yea, I quoted Gibbs not too long ago, he said that he can't fill all the holes in one off-season. Snyder has some of you guys spoiled already. I can see Gibbs stamp starting to show in who we picked and who we didn't.

Joe Johnson was plain nasty with the Saints before the Packers though. He beat Larry Allen in a MNF game for 5 sacks I think one game. (could be 4). He's got talent, I think he could be a good pickup.

Tony Brackens I heard is going to Green Bay. He's hurt more often than Johnson, though.

Brackens is supposedly renegotitaing with Jacksonvile. He may not be cut after all but if he is, Green Bay may be interested.

Sam Adams when healthy is as good as any DT in the league at clogging the middle. I'm sure his former head coach would be interested if the price is right.

Joe Johnson's best years were in 2000 and 2001. The Packers were really impressed with him...which is why they picked him up from the Saints. Johnson's best days, however, were when he played with the Saints. He didn't do too much while playing in Green Bay. In fact, last year he had only 6 tackles and 0 sacks. This is not the kind of guy we need on the Skins. I say "Pass" on him.

As for Tony Brackens. He'd be a more interesting consideration but his health concerns me.

Yep Sam Adams..........Once again, too bad about ND, or Ladaris Jackson and Kenard. Fellow hogs must agree that it would be better to have one of those dudes around instead of contemplating the likes of Joe Johnson. Anybody think we could ship Taylor Jacobs off for a young DE prospect?
