I would've picked a California team, but Arizona is far enough away from Washington, so I won't complain. Just stay on your side of the Country.....Oh, and take your father with you!

New Arizona coach Mike Stoops hired Steve Spurrier Jr. to coach the Wildcats' tight ends.

The 33-year-old Spurrier coached wide receivers with the Washington Redskins the last two years.

"He played in college, he coached in college and the NFL, and he's a great fit," Stoops said of Spurrier.

Spurrier replaces guards and centers coach John Peterson, who left during spring practice to take a job with Ohio State.

Eric Wolford, hired to coach tackles and tight ends, took on the additional offensive line duties after Peterson's departure and will continue to coach the unit.

Spurrier, who played at Duke, broke into coaching in 1994 as a graduate assistant for his father, Florida coach Steve Spurrier. He spent three years coaching receivers at Oklahoma under Stoops' brother, Bob, before rejoining his father on the Redskins' staff in 2002.
