Of course it seems that the more of these that come out the further we drop  .

the power ranking is definitely based on last year if we only moved up only a few spots from the end of last year. we have improved a great deal and should be place at least within the 10 - 15 range.

We moved up only 1 after the off season we had ?
and The Jags make leaps from 23 to 12 ? They don't even have a backup QB in case Lefty struggles I'll wait until the season gets closer before giving any gredance to these rankings because 1 team(the team THEY like) will get high marks for bringing in lots of free agents then another team (the team THEY want to trash)will be penalized for having too much turnover

So you think this is blueberry syrup? :D

Looks to me like Petey is up to his same old hiding till it's "safe to say" tricks again.

I would rather be ranked #20 now and finish in the "Top Ten" during the season, then be ranked in the "Top Ten" now, get my hopes up, and finish the season in the "Bottom Ten".

You know, it's all conjecture, at this point.
Don't even bother reading "Power Rankings".

who cares what pete prisco thinks. First, Ive never heard of him, second, last time I checked its MAY. HOw can you accuratley judge a team like the redskins with that much turnover, and a completly new coaching staff. It means nothing.

Well I actually like hearing this. Remember when Spurrier was new to the NFL. All they hype about how great he'd be. Didn't quite work out. I will take all the people saying we're not as good as this team or that. Let our record during the season give them a wake up call.

Dallas at 11?? THAT IS BS!! I dont care that they made the playoffs last year! Their schedule was super easy, plus they have no RB and Carter blows at QB! This is BS! their Defense is decent I will give them that but their offense is laughable! Keyshawn is going to suck for them! Bank on that!

The Skins being at 20 is also Ludacris! All the talent they have added plus already have and now they have a Coach that knows how to put it together and produce a winner! HMM a 3 time SuperBowl Champion as a coach! Gibbs is going to make a huge difference for the Skins this year! They are going to win the NFC East!

Denver at 3, Jacksonville at 12, Dallas at 11??
Houston at like 26???
Is this guy a homer or what...Denver is taking a major step back, losing their 2 premier offensive weapons...and Jacksonville has 1 QB and we saw last year what that means...
Bottom line...NOTHING some NOONE says right now really matters...it only matters in next years power rankings when we are defending our crown...

As I said, it's all conjecture. One person and his asinine opinion, to please the editor.
Take it for what it's worth, and don't get all worked up about it.

I quit reading those power rankings a couple of years back simply because they differ so much...

One thing that is good about it is that Gibbs can use it to get the team worked up like he does so well :)

The only power ranings that count in my book are wins and looses. I have never seen an accurate power ranking there are so many. Free agency threw power rankings out the window a long time ago and some of these guys who write some of these rankings should be thrown out the window also.

just curious - did any of these folks have the Pats and Panthers as 1-2 before the beginning of the year? I *might* follow someone who tagged it that well...

But I doubt it

At week 6 or 7 last season, when the Panthers were rocking early, ESPN had them ranked pretty low (kind of like how they stiffed us the first four weeks or so), and captioned it with "Carolina isn't as good as they're playing right now"

:)

Must have been Pasta-belli. . .I bet they wished that they had jumped on the bandwagon that early. It took SI all the way to the Superbowl (when the cover read "Carolina's For Real!") to catch on to the trend.

so anyone who takes these power rankings seriously needs to stop and think that most times there are teams from the bottom that move to the top and vice versa...

this is just like draft rumors - doesn't mean a thing til the team is on the clock...

and that is taking just way to FREAKING LONG...

::sigh:: ok - I feel better

The reason we have fallen to 20 is that they probably interviewed St. Joe. He told them that we would be lucky to win any games at all this year in that self-depreciating humble way he has--He has got them right where he wants them!

All we can do is mail the 20th ranking to all the teams in the NFL so they think we are a walkover...

let them be cocky - let our team just get better

Right on, SFIR.
They're worthless. It's only another man, and his half-assed opinion. How can you judge a team before the end of a game ?

by skinsfaninroanoke
shoot - if you read my draft guesses, or my opinions on who we NEEDED to get... well - that was just my opinion and in the long run - worth nada.

Most of these self styled experts who never played a day don't have any idea other than they may have a better "feel" or have some inside info I don't...

I do respect certain commentators or writers because they have been on the gridiron, but to guess where the teams will be based on not even seeing players in camp is just silly

On another note (in keeping with your comment amount former players doing the predicting)...wasn't Deion always very good at picking the winners this past season on CBS ?
I won consistently after I learned to follow his picks.

euw ::shudder::

I personally like Jaws and his takes on QBs... if he says Rivers looks more accomplished than Manning, I expect Rivers to do better, at least off the bat.
