Check it out. A retraction from King about Taylor in this weeks CNNSI article. Good for him for coming clean:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/writers/peter_king/05/17/king.mmqb/index.html
I think sometimes in this business, we get bad information, and we get it from people we think are reliable, but that is no excuse if we run with it. Such was the case last week. I can find no corroborating evidence that first-round pick Sean Taylor wants out of Washington. I apologize to the Redskins faithful who got very nervous over the note I ran last week, and to Taylor.

Typical Peter King reporting. There are two reasons why I don't read SI anymore. He is on and the other starts with a Z.

I knew he was full of it the whole time. Why would ST be unhappy here? King should stick to BSing on HBO 20 times a year instead of writing it 52 times a year.

I like how, in typical media fashion, he buried it towards the end of the article. At least he apologized...which is more than you can say about any other sportswriter. Regardlesss, King should know better than to shoot from the hip.

Dan Patrick has a ongoing joke about not repeating anything unless he has 2 named sources
Peter King Heard something (or made it up) that was negative about the Skins and ran with it
His report didnt scare me but his apoligy is SHOCKING

Agreed - I didn't buy into it for a second. Peter King might start listening to Dan Patrick to quit looking like a bumbling fool. There wasn't any excuse for that in my book.
Granted - King gets paid well for his writing and I volunteer - but I got 5 sources for my last article before I wrote it.

Props to King for apologizing. We all make mistakes, remember?

At least he's got a pair - too bad he printed it in the first place... but at least he admitted his mistake.

Peter King and Fat Lenny are huge Redskins haters! I cant believe Peter King would post that bs! I expected more from writers from my favorite magazine!

Whoa, hold on guys, at least he admitted he made a mistake. Name other writers in the whole world would retract their statements. And to be honest, I don't think he's a redskins hater, he's straight to the middle. Now, I knew he wrote something wrong because Taylor has two best friends who actually care of him in portis and arrington, probably barrow. He's going to be fine. Now, if Lenny writes an article, now you can bash.

It takes a man to come clean with something like this.
While he does not enjoy my readership, he has my respect.

And it really shows. I highly respect the research that I see in the articles, as well as the message board. Honestly, I think that the scholarship here (on the message boards, but especially in the articles) is typically better than that of my papers for school(!)
Don't know if that says more about this website or me as a student. . . .

I work in the media and for any reporter to make a published apology takes guts and most repoters both print and broadcast will never admit they screwed up. I'm no fan of King but I give Him credit for admitting a mistake, granted He did bury it some.

King is a redskin hater...did anyone hear him filling in for dan patrick on the radio? he made several jokes about the skin's and called them his personal whipping boy. Fat journalists just don't like the skin's for some reason...maybe they don't like their nicknames being used, HOGS.

that's ok....Skin fans don't like fat journalists either!

Peter King wrote that Lavar Arrington still has a piece of Troy Aikman that he keeps in a jar in his locker. Every other Wednesday, he takes it out and leads the locker-room in singing "YMCA".
To quote my good friend SOS III,
"Or, maybe not."
