June 1st Cut rumors

So far, I have this list of players (below) The ones with asterisks (*) are confirmed by newspapers. The ones without are pure speculation but make for interesting debate!

Trotter* (obviously)
Jason Gildon*
Ty Law*
Kurt Warner*
Testaverde*
Joe Johnson*
Eddie George*
Rich Gannon*
Tim Couch*
Jon Kitna*
M. Muhammed*

Haynesworth
Sam Adams
Larry Allen
Chad Hutchinson
Robert Griffith

Joe Johnson would be a good idea for the Skins. He's injury prone, but if the money is right, he can really contribute when healthy. I say, let's get him to camp and see what Bubba can do with him!

If anyone can find an article somewhere with a list of expected cuts. Or even add some rumors, it's nice to hear who might be available!

Larry Allen isn't going to be released. It would create a serious cap hit....not to mention a huge hole on the OL.

Agreed, but it is a rumor. Plus if they did cut him, it would be June 1st to spread the cap hit over two years instead of one. Notice he did not have an asterisk?

I noticed...just repeating what I've read in puke news today...and what Jones said about Allen's being released rumor...said it wasn't gonna happen before or after June 1

I dont think Kitna is going to be cut either.. I think he just signed a one year extension

You're probably right about Kitna, but here's what Boomer Esiason said:

"I think the Bengals have a problem on their hands if they keep Kitna," Esiason told the Dayton Daily News. "If you're going to make your commitment to your $49 million player, you have to make him the clear-cut No. 1 guy, and you can't allow him to be affected by somebody else's insecurity within the locker room.

"Hopefully, the Bengals will cut with Jon, let him go play somewhere else, and then move on and cast their lot with Carson and just let him go, let him have his bad games and his good games, and then hopefully they'll be battle-tested, and he'll be the guy of the future."

Sam Adams! We need Sam Adams! I bet that GW would like to reunite with this guy. He would instantly improve our D-Line and allow us to play 3-4 with him at NT. He's a monster!

Isn't Adams ancient?

Kitna is no spring chick himself is he? I don't see a problem in having him insure Carson....Boomers been hangin around Peon too long.

Adams is 30. Kitna is 31.

John Kitna signed a contract extension about 3-4 weeks ago...he isn't going anywhere. What news paper confirmed Ty Law was getting released?

Of that list I would love to have Sam Adams or Hayneworth...but those 2 are "speculation"

Where did you read that Gannon was getting cut. I saw Norv the other day talking about how he looks forward to coaching gannon this year and he plans on starting him.

The asteriks are confirmed rumors, not confirmed releases...

Law and Gannon are staying put and you can put an * on that.

Law might be gone NEXT year according to the Globe but he will be there to defend their superbowl against the Skins :>)

Gannon does not have much left in the tank approaching the big 40 but they have no one ready in the wings and they can't afford the cap hit with the win now attitude from Al and his own version of the "over the hill gang"

Haynesworth is a beast but has a not so good attitude. I like Joe Johnson too, 3 or 4 years ago he whupped Larry Allen when the Saints played the Cowboys for 4 sacks.

Gibbs already said that the team was set. Why is everyone out there looking for people that we can sign. Do you have no confidence that Gibbs can coach the guys he already has? I'm sorry but we don't have the cap space to sign anyone!

He said the team is set except for maybe one or two guys. Also, yes Adams is 30. That is not old at all considering that Ted Washington is 36!

Joe Johnson is an injury prone who never plays up to his potential. Sam Adams would be a great pickup for a run stopping monster nose tackle.

I would love to get 4-5 years out of Adams :)

Raiders | Collins In? Gannon Out? - from www.KFFL.com
Fri, 7 May 2004 10:22:23 -0700

Vinny DiTrani, of the Bergen Record, reports free agent QB Kerry Collins (Giants) reportedly has an offer from the Oakland Raiders. Should Collins accept Oakland's offer, it could result in the release of Raiders QB Rich Gannon.

Gannon is older than Brunell and not as good in my opinion...

Plus I think he has major attitude problems - just getting that from some of his comments and stances I have read about over the past couple of years...

adams is far from ancient, anyone else see that large man running for the endzone in that first game of the season when he had a td... i love it when linemen score touchdowns :D

Yeah, if Collins signs in Oakland, Gannon is likely gone. Law has been griping to the media for a while now. If New England decides to cut there losses, June 1st is the time to do it so they eat the cap hit over two years rather than one. Of course Law may have trade value, even with his contract.

I like Joe Johnson only if he comes at a lower price. I think Sam Adams will command a larger salary. Joe Johnson is dominant when healthy, but he might take considerably less money because is has big health issues. Also, don't you think it is strange that Sam Adams, as good as he is, seems to find himself with new teams often? I question his work ethic and maturity.

Over the years, those that have stuck with the Skins have been trained to be scouts, watch the waiver wire and scout the other teams for talent. I think we're just so used to it - it's a tough habit to break. No insult intended for Gibbs - but Joe Johnson would be a great pick up, as would Adams. I think Jason Gildon is GREAT - and would give the Skins another guy to play the middle - which he could handle. He could also allow the Skins to go to a mixed 3-4. The Steelers gave up on him, but he's good when he's healthy. I think he's back near 100% now...

Still concerned about the D-line and H-back...Eddie George? hadn't heard that one

agree

Gildon would be good. Never heard any attitude problems with him either. Wish I could find some more news on expected June 1st cuts. I guess NFL teams try to keep a lid on it so apposing teams can't plan accordingly.
