Should we have waited??

If we hadn't gotten Brunell could be get Collins for cheap right now?? I mean we spent ALOT on him. Could we have saved some cap room by waiting? I guess it doesn't matter, too late either way.

Collins sucks. There's no room for a drunken racist here. Let him go to Dallas, where he'll continue to suck.

Hindsight is 20/20
Gibbs wanted Brunell, he personally sought him.
I think Gibbs wanted a left handed QB so Jansen could protect his blind side since Samuels has been slippin lately.
If Kerry Collins was ambidextrous then Gibbs would sign him right now. Imagine that, a QB that could drop back ready to throw with his right hand and when preasured he just switches over to his left hand.
oh, straying from the subject here....Brunell is a better QB than Collins anyway...Collins is good but inconsistent.

Thats the past, but I would take brunell over collins anyday especially since we have ramsey. Collins is a good back up at best and will not be a starter next year. He had one good year, thats it.

Ok I just learned something, thanks oafusp. I didn't realize that was an issue. And sorry I had no idea Collins was a drunken racist. I didn't know much about him except his numbers.

Collins is a jack daniels drinking joke...lately we own the giants in the meadowlands and he looked pretty bad the last few times we played NY. The Giants will be at the cellar this year
With Collins gone and a rookie starting in the nfc east with Sean Taylor...Lavar...Dawkins..Kearse...Roy Williams. Eli Manning better be saying his prayers every Saturday night

What?
The guy straightened out some things in his past.
Was he checking out high school cheer leaders when he was drunk...yes. But that was a long time ago. He is fixed now.

Oh for crying out loud, how irresponsible is it to go around lableing someone as a drunken racist?
The man was in a bar with teammates, one of them got in his face after a few beers and he made a racial slur. Impairment begins with the first drinks and this was back when he was very new to the league. He's been fine for years now and he is a Super Bowl QB.
Let's not go throwing damning lables around like drunken racist. Use your head.

That still doesn't change the fact that he sucks.

Sorry boys didn't mean to start a disagreement. I just am not PRO Brunell if you cannot tell. LOL Go Patrick Ramsey.

I think you'll learn to like Brunell too. He's a class act. Ramsey will have plenty of time to play, but I think Brunell will be the man this year.

tx_skins_fan- maybe you've thrown a couple back yourself...
As a Redskins fan, of course I don't like Kerry Collins, but saying he sucks is idiotic. He is an absolute NFL success story.
He was a gifted 6-5 248 pound college quarterback who was picked 5th overall in the 1995 draft. His career never really took off with Carolina... then he bounces to New Orleans and THEN he finds the Giants in 1999... he plays pretty well in 1999, then explodes in 2000... do you know what happened in 2000? The Giants went to the Super Bowl.
Since 2000 Kerry Collins has been an ELITE Quarterback passing for 73 touchdowns while only getting intercepted 59 times. He's also got a completion percentage of 59.
He CLEARLY doesn't suck, go sell that crap someplace else.

You're right SSIII, I mean, maybe I secretly like peeing off balconies, using a whiffleball bat to hit empties from the 3rd floor into the parking lot and trying to smash cans and bottles over my head!
lol
but seriously, alcohol can also make you do something you wouldn't normally do, Kerry might have a slight racist edge, but there are women out there who hold their purse a little tighter or guys that get nervous when confronted by a member of a different race. I don't think those people are racist per se but who knows what they might do after throwing back a few... you know?

Collins has had one or two decent seasons. He never scared anyone. He's no better than Gus Frerotte.

I know what you are saying.
My point is that since alcohol lower inhibition, people sometimes do things they might want to do, but don't because of social restrictions. Just like men often act inappropriatley towards women while drinking, maybe Kerry Collins ignored the ramifications of uttering the racial slur. But I'm just speculating...

He may be a drunken racist, but he has done one thing that Brunell hasn't done and that is take a team to the superbowl. He doesn't suck ethier. Brunell I don't think is even going to start, I think Ramsey will beat him out if not by opening day than by the second or third game. Brunell is done. He had his chance.

I think we should also remember that even though Brunell is expensive... he can be cut in the first 3 years in which case we would owe him nothing...

Easy on Collins. He had some attitude problems early, but has definitely turned his life around and cleaned himself up. You can tell because the Giant veterans (black players included) really respect and like the guy.
Niki, good call on Collins over Brunell. Better player at a lower price.

Can I squeeze a word in here ? It's moot. I think Norv will make a move on Collins. Without debating the finer points, without labelling, without anything...I'm stuck with Brunell, love him or hate him. Collins is gonna be a Grayder.

Brunell is a solid QB. He deserves much more respect than some people here give him.

How is Collins better than Brunell again? He hasn't once had a better quarterback rating than Brunell, including last year's dismal 70.7 rating. His best year ever (85.4 in 2002) is only .2 points higher than Brunell's career average.

Brunell carried Jaguars team on his back. I'll take the eight-rated passer of all-time over Kerry Collins any day of the week and twice on Sundays...
