Which, if any of these players, should the Redskins re-sign?

Adrian Peterson

Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix

Jamison Crowder

Preston Smith

All. Maybe not Preston Smith, but Peterson is still a good RB, and the Redskins are thin. Having cut Swearinger, they need Clinton-Dix. They don't have enough DB's and Nicholson is in the dog-house because of his drunken attack in December. Crowder is at least adequate, and the Redskins have no receivers.

Meanwhile, they should trade Norman. He takes too much cap.

Here is the a article in the Post about their free-agents.

Wow the only one I see worth signing is AP and that would be in a backup role. Dix did nothing, Quinn is better than Crowder. Smith has been a disappointment.

Preston Smith was a second round draft pick who has started every game the past three years and had 8 sacks in 2017. I'm not saying he's a total stud but I'd hardly call him a disappointment. I doubt he's a guy we'll be able to afford once he hits free agency.

I'd be okay with re-signing any of the four you listed. Gruden seems to want Crowder back badly but he's been the biggest disappointment of the bunch IMO after he had such a great rookie year.

True, but I would've expected more production from him playing opposite of Kerrigan...wouldn't want to "afford" him if he gets a large contract in FA.

Yeah I do know what you're saying. He had 8 sacks in 2017 but only 4 in 2018. Seems like it should have been more especially with Allen and Payne added to the line this year. I'd heard some of the Redskins radio guys though commenting that he was still making an impact even without those sack numbers. Think he even had an interception this year, didn't he?

I think he's probably one of those guys they'd like to keep, but he'll get big $$ from somebody with a lot of cap space.

I think the tape shows he and Kerrigan getting held at least 25% of the time and no flags being thrown. I'm not sure what he has to do to get those calls but I don't think Smith is as easily replaceable as we'd like. Pernell McPhee played in 13 games and had ZERO sacks.

Could be, I do see Kerrigan getting held a lot.

For the same amount and possibly even for less money, given the choice, any player or coach would choose another franchise over the Redskins

Are those really our only free agents? Huh.

In my humble opinion, make a real effort to re-sign Peterson and Crowder, and let the others try their luck in the market.

Preston Smith feels like Orakpo 2.0 to me: had potential that never turned into profit. We've seen enough to know what he offers, and I don't think it's a mid-tier (or higher) contract.

Yeah not a terrible comparison. I'd actually give him a mid-tier contract to keep him around, but seriously watch him go out there and get snapped up for some ridiculous offer.

Kiper likes us drafting his replacement:

15. Washington Redskins

Jachai Polite, OLB, Florida

This is another potential landing spot for Kyler Murray. Alex Smith’s scary injury put his future in jeopardy, and it wouldn’t shock me if the Redskins added a young quarterback this offseason. Ultimately, I’m going with Polite, a perfect pass-rusher for a 3-4 defense who came on strong with 11 sacks this season. Former second-round pick Preston Smith has been inconsistent, and he’s a free agent, so Polite makes sense as a replacement opposite Ryan Kerrigan. Safety is another position to watch, depending on what happens with free agent Ha Ha Clinton-Dix.

I have no use for a polite linebacker. Give me a Ray Nitschke or a Dick Butkus. Or a Jack Lambert. Or that Hanburger fellow.

Kerrigan is super polite. Probably why he doesn't get all of the holding calls he deserves. Needs to start griping at the refs more!!!

I can't stand Ray Lewis but his mouth probably got him more holding calls than anyone else at the linebacker position.

I'm sticking with my QB prediction for the draft, although OLB is always crucial for a solid D.
Wouldn't mind that pick at all or another good OL. Can't have enough of those.

Any external FAs that could helps us out here, not counting QBs?

RB is obviously a huuugeee hole since we know little to nothing about Guice
and AP is not a long term solution.
