He is a great talent evaluator... Let's get him.
Report: Mike Mayock candidate for Redskins GM
ESPN's Adam Schefter and Field Yates report that NFL Network's Mike Mayock has "emerged as a candidate" for the Redskins' GM job.
Mayock, 58, has worked at NFL Network since 2005 and been involved as a broadcaster for Notre Dame games and Thursday Night Football. Known as a draft guru, Mayock's star has dimmed a bit recently, as he likely simply doesn't have the time to devote to full-blown draft study with all of his other commitments. But a famous tape grinder, Mayock interviewed for a Raiders front-office job when now-deceased owner Al Davis was running the show. If John Lynch can be hired right out of the FOX booth with zero personnel experience, we wouldn't put it past Mayock landing a similar gig.

Ugh, shoot me now. It won't matter anyway: we now know that whoever gets hired will not actually be handed the keys. And if he stands up for himself, he'll get the same treatment as McCloughan.

it's such a shame that we can't have someone in charge that has a bit of a clue about things
'hiring' anyone will only help these 2 masters of spin (actually, liars) get some to buy into the same old BS
I'm going to be very skeptical ... the recent shenanigans and free agent acquisitions have not been very encouraging

This must have been in the works for quite a while, this just didn't happen with a phone call. Lets hope he hits the ground running, we need some professional help before things get worse. He'll need to exhibit both coinfidance and leadership from day 1.

what makes you think that Dan or Bruce are going to follow any of his recommendations or advice?
and is the word 'coinfidence' something to do with the value of his contract - as valueless as any contract with this idiot owner is

Mike Mayock has already said he was never contacted by the Redskins organization about being GM. However if Mayock were to be hired he definitely knows talent.
With all the media connections Mayock has Snyder or Allen would have a hard time pulling Shananigans without a media backlash. Mayock would be a great hire.

I have been a big supporter of Scott. I would still take him back drunk or not.
I also think he was fired for jealousy reasons.
However I do believe he may have relapsed as well.
If you look at current pics you can see his face is bloated which is not evidence in and of itself but look at Scotts pics when he was hired and then during this season he looks bloated. Maybe he just gained weight? Maybe he did relapse?

He definitely relapsed... and Kirk seemed to have a bone with him, you like that? How you like me now??
Multiple fans and players report him being drunk af at all the games.. I'm over it. Peace out bro!
Now who fills his shoes? I'm good with Mayock, or someone as keen on talent evaluation.. hopefully sober enough to find out if our FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICK HAS A SERIOUS INJURY OR NOT!!!!! SMMFH

I'm moving on from the Scot situation as well - WHAT CHOICE IS THERE
from now on - all FO decisions are open to ridicule until we have clear evidence that Dan Snyder is not involved
Even if the Redskins win the NFC East I will be critical of this lying, sleazy, slime ball owner we have
Dan Snyder makes Jerry Jones look absolutely brilliant - and he's as dumb as a rock

Yes, I agree completely.

I am not excited by the prospect of Mike Mayock becoming GM because it sounds like another marketing ploy by Snyder. Redskins know who he is from watching the draft shows, many Redskin fans would consider Maylock a great talent evaluator because they see him paid to pontificate by ESPN. So if Snyder hires Mayock I'm going to believe Snyder is doing it to assuage fans rather then getting the best GM available.

Yes, Snyder wants to run the team put doesn't want the heat and ridicule that comes with mistakes so he hires cutouts to shield him. I think everyone involved knows the drill but there are only so many multi-million dollar NFL front office jobs to go around so someone has to work for the dysfunctional owners like Snyder and the doofus who owns the Browns.

there will be many 'new' things to consider as the spin merchants get it cranked up again
this time around however, there will be a lot of skepticism because of how the Scot issue has been bungled by D&D II
this was a huge downer for a lot of the media and fans - they will not easily sidestep this as they have in the past
I'm proud of the players like Ricky Jean-Francois for speaking up against them
this is not going away by just hiring a new guy - not this time
