Cousins requesting trade

I think I've established myself on THN the past 13 years as not being a chicken little fan. So believe me when I say I'm serious this time: the sky is falling.

What the hell happened to my team since November? It's like the whole thing just blew up for no reason. ;furious;

You're right FFA - this is really a big mess ...
Quarterback Kirk Cousins has recently appealed to Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder, asking for a trade without a long-term contract in place, league and team sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.
Dan Snyder told Cousins that he should not anticipate a trade, sources said, and the quarterback is prevented from negotiating with teams under the exclusive franchise tag that was placed upon him on Feb. 28.

If the Redskins choose to trade Cousins, they would have to grant him permission to talk to other teams and work out a long-term contract before a deal likely would be completed.

If Cousins were to remain with the Redskins, he likely would have to find new targets for the passing game. DeSean Jackson (Buccaneers) and Pierre Garcon (49ers) are both expected to leave the Redskins in free agency.
It would mark the first time in NFL history that a team would lose two 1,000-yard receivers from the previous season, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
I really have to question why anyone could think that Cousins 'wants' to sign a long term deal here

PLUS

there's no way that these bozos are offering him the money it would take to sign a long term deal AND he's just not doing it!

THE BOZOS ARE IN CHARGE

Snyder is the problem. We have three choices: 1) suck it up and take it, 2) root for another team, or 3) give up NFL football. I'm leaning toward #3, myself. Unless things change, and I can't see that happening with the crew we have in charge now, I'll be a big college football fan and leave my Sundays free. It's a shame.

Done deal, all Cousins has to do is sit out, Snyder would be even more stupid if he didn't get the most he could for him right now.
Heck Cousins even has the fans on his side now saying that they don't blame him for wanting out.

Snyder & Allen, what did we do to deserve these two idiots? It looks like they have gutted the team.

Yea I hear ya, all I expect when I go to or watch the Skins is a football game. I love the sport to much to not watch, I'll go to a few games to hang with and see old friends. I put all my resources and energy into my passion...coaching my HS team.

I don't blame him, get out while you can Kirk. You can't trust Snyder to not ruin everything he touches. I've seen too many players waste their careers here.

The Skins have zero leverage in this situation anyway.

All you guys vouching for this guy and he don't even want to play for us! Smh. Get a 2018 1st rd and a 2nd rd this year and I will be happy with that.

I haven't been around here nearly that long but I've put up with a lot of years of ineptitude from this franchise. This freak show takes the cake.

You know who I'm going to be truly pissed at? The fans who continue to spend their money on this product.

FedEx should be deserted the entire season. Money is the only thing Dan Snyder understands.

Why TF would anyone give up anything remotely like that? People are deluded.

It's being reported today (I'm hearing it on 980) that McCloughan wanted to sign Cousins long-term early in the 2015 season and then afterward. It was Allen/Snyder who held it up and wanted Kirk to prove himself again.

But yeah, let's act like McCloughan was the problem, Bruce.

The RMS Titanic has nothing on the sinking ship that is the Daniel Snyder era Washington Redskins. I mean, the Titanic thing only killed the spirits of about 1,500 people.

This Redskins thing has to be killing more people than that.

What's the solution? We boycott the Redskins? Or just Danny?

That's hard to do.

They are one and the same. I have "tried" in that I have never given $1 to the redskins organization via ticket or apparel purchases nor do I visit redskins owned websites since Snyder bought the team --- but I have realized that isn't enough.

If you want to boycott Snyder, you have to boycott the skins ---- and I think I may be ready to do that.

I haven't given Daniel one dime in the last 6 years or so. I refuse. I dunno what it'll take for fans to wake up... Make your voice heard with your wallets.

The problem is, he'll bait the masses with some new FA... They'll line up in droves and ultimately be disappointed. The most striking thing fans could do? Refuse to enter the stadium on opening day. Embarrass him.

ESPN is also 'reporting' that Kirk Cousins will sign the tender - he's had enough and is pushing the deal

these bozos do not have a clue

Captain Pick still has a 90% chance of getting traded. The Redskins just took some leverage back from the 49ers so that they can get a better deal.

Look, the 49ers are a debacle and they need a QB that fits with Kyle. The last thing this new staff wants is to struggle early so there is an incentive to do this trade. From the overrated Cousins point of view, he now has lost his two top playmakers and he is not a young kid. He is a pick throwing game killing machine who now is closer to 30 than he would like. He will love to give the 49ers a sweet deal to get out and get a long term contract that he may not get when his production will invariably drop as he approaches 30.

The 49ers want to trade after the draft so they can keep the number 2 pick. The Redskins are pushing so that the 49ers will have to trade the #2 pick. So Snyder denying the pick machine's trade request is just creating leverage. It is very smart.

The narrative is that KC has all the leverage. That the 49ers can wait. Both are not entirely true. The Skins can transition him next year and match any contract offer and facilitate a trade next year.

Most likely KC will be throwing picks in SF next year and we should get a great package in return.

I always laugh at boycotting the Skins, while I have dial back my spending on the team, it means nothing. The truth is the stadium could be empty, no one watching on TV, and they could sell no merchandise…Snyder would still make money. You have to boycott the NFL if you want to hurt Snyder.

True that the boycotting the NFL would work. Good luck with that.

Boycott the team name. It's not racist. Worse than that, it's a tradition of unprofessional football, since 1999.

hitmandm wrote:So Snyder denying the pick machine's trade request is just creating leverage. It is very smart.
ROTFALMAO

Nothing Snyder ever does could be considered "smart".

It has become clear that Snyder & Allen are the reason Cousins wasn't signed last year. They could have signed him to a deal similar to what Glennon is getting ----- Mike F#$%ing Glennon. I don't think I even need to go into the established track record Snyder has in ruining this organization over and over for 20 years.

The skins have absolutely no leverage. Cousins even reduced his trade value by ASKING for a trade. No package they will get is anything close to what they would have had they signed him to a LTD last year and then wanted to trade him. Denying his trade is akin to Belicheck's "I'm not trading Grappolo" talk ---- everyone on the ENTIRE PLANET KNOWS IT'S BULLSH!T. The only people Snyder is fooling are guys as stupid as he is --- and guess what: there aren't any.

And if you see how SF is packaging their FA signings ---- it is VERY VERY clear they are more than ok with waiting until next season to sign him to a deal Snyder and his b!tch-boy won't match. This is why Snyder can't have nice things.

And if SF is a "debacle" ----- WTF are the skins??????? SF has what appears to be a good GM, one of the best OFF minds in the game, and a clear plan on how to proceed with rebuilding (which is very clear based on the moves they are doing --- I have a similar sentiment to when Scot came in and started making all those moves to clear up cap space, get rid of aging players, keep draft picks, invest in the right players, etc). And on the other hand, we are a total sh!tshow having already destroyed the winning roster Scot put together. #-o

And if you are on the side of Snyder and calling him "smart" ---- I think that says a lot about your ability to evaluate or opine on personnel moves.

Body of work: why is Kirk a "pick machine"...?

Compare that with Elway or Marino or others....how would it compare? I don't know.

Been a fan for +30 yrs, tried the boicot BS many times (I'm still in therapy due to the 11 game losing streak to the Clowboyz in the '90s). After yesterdayS news all I can say is: GET READY FOR THE 23RD CONSECUTIVE REBUILDING YEAR OF THE TEAM...
