Yeah, so know Danny boy and his latest b!tch-boy, Bruce Allen, are ready to drive away the only person that actually understands the general concepts of football within the organization....

How can the son of a legend be so stupid? I already knew this, but Allen is the new Vinny......
Good things don't last long under Snyder. I guess the little man has been in the background too long and wants some attention. What a curse Snyder is.

this may be a bit of an overreaction... remember, McCloughan comes with a bit of his own baggage. "sources" have been known to have their own agenda. Can we just watch for a while before jumping back on the "kill Danny" bandwagon?

I never got off the bandwagon. He has wrecked this franchise and made it a joke for 20 years. Let me repeat --- 20 years. You think 2 slightly above avg seasons will make me forget. I am not so fickle.
And when it comes to Danny boy, NOTHING is an overreaction. Like most fools, the little man is incapable of truly understanding the game and what it takes to build a champion --- incapable. Nothing in his tenure shows he has "learned" with "experience". Failure has been shown as the best method to teach better individuals how to succeed --- not for Danny boy. The only real changes he makes are when the common fans get upset enough. Real leaders don't give 2 sh!ts or are otherwise influenced by the noise. Like most insecure dwebs, he is.
This "reporter" may have his own agenda, but I highly doubt this "report" came from thin air and it sounds eerily similar to typical Danny boy behavior. REAL similar. And it also appears that Bruce Allen is the new Vinny. It is disheartening to say the least --- but expected. If the little man is taken out of the limelight for a moment, he will wreak havoc. And like most dip-sh!t leaders, instead of being a man about it, he has his yes-boy (aka Vinny aka Bruce Allen) do the dirty work.
Scot has his issues, but good leaders put the people they hire in the position to succeed. They give them the resources necessary to do the best they can in the easiest way possible. Danny boy has NEVER done that. EVER. This is just another example of the little man putting up a wall so that his employees can't do their jobs effectively and in the easiest method possible.
Danny boy is TOXIC. A disease. The only refuge will be his death.

GP Marshall was a pretty crappy owner for my entire life, until Williams took over... the team survived. Take a breath.

Edward Bennett Williams wasn't much better. Overtly racist.

The point being, we got to the SuperBowl... the Redskins became "a thing". But, I'll bet you got that. Touche' on stepping on my point for some gratuitous reason...

No intention of stepping on your point. Just emphasizing we've survived several bad owners and we will survive Dan Snyder.

Why would anyone take anything Chris Fooley says seriously? A stopped clock is right more often than he is.

As opposed to whom? Former Redskins player recent enough that he played with some of these guys. Current Redskins employee. His opinion seems as valid as or more than anyone else out there. I don't like the McCloughan drink comment, but seems ridiculous to dismiss him as a know nothing.

I don't know. It seems to me like every time C00ley throws some new crap at the wall it doesn't stick. He's been doing the same tired act for years.
Remember these?

Whatever the underlying cause for the dysfunction in Ashburn I think the Skins are refusing to offer Cousins a satisfactory LTD and I am pissed.

"it takes one to know one .." back at ya! - this is too easy
do you really think that CCooley has a lot of credibility? pointing out that he used to play here is not getting it when you're putting out some of the BS that he espouses

Maybe there is too much off-season focus on the Redskins? There is no real story about the GM, not yet, and need to report on Kirk Cousins and negotiations until March 1. Nothing possible to say about free agents, either.
Maybe the sports talk shows should talk more about the Caps, Wizards, and the start of the Nationals' season?

welch - I think there's a lot of "stuff" going on at Redskins Park - I'm not sure that the GM is 'comfortable' or that Jay is V happy about all that has happened regarding his QB - seems there's a lot of uncertainty
these next few weeks and months are going to be very revealing
I'm trying not to get too "up" for the caps, wizards and nationals - things are looking pretty good ...

Skinsjock, I have no idea what's going on inside the Redskins. It reminds me of "kremlin-watching" in the bad old day. Maybe there will be news -- with more substance than Coo ley's "I wonder if" in a month or three. Since Snyder does not care what fans think, there is not much to do.
Yes, re-sign Cousins, but what if Cousins has had enough Redskin-chaos? In 1960, Eddie Lebaron had lost patience with George Preston Marshall, the founder, the marketer, the creator of the Redskins' Marching Band...and an owner even worse -- far worse -- than Snyder. Shirley Povich lead paragraph (best I remember) one Monday: "Born the wrong color to play for the Redskins, Jim Brown, instead, integrated the Redskin's end-zone four times as the Cleveland Browns bull-dozed the Washington Redskins." Marshall fired a Redskin HC in Q1 ofg a game because the coach would not run plays Marshall -- who never coached -- had demanded that the Skins run. If Snyder fouls up the team, again, he might surpass Marshall.

I really hope that Snyder stays away from this Cousins stuff and let's the FO do their thing without any influence at all
it'd be nice if we can keep Cousins but if he doesn't want to play here or if he feels the FO is not really confident in his ability, I can't see him putting up with this franchise anymore and we have to hope these guys don't take too long in finding a good interim QB and to find a better QB for the future - having Cousins play QB here doesn't suddenly make us a really good team - he had a number of chances to be a difference maker last season and he did not take advantage

Oh my.... I hope Brewer is off the mark but this has the ring of truth....
The WAPO reported years ago that a close friend of Dan Snyder said that Snyder fired Marty after he finish so strong because Marty took charge and it didn't feel like the team was Dan's. Everyone here is familiar with the futility and dysfunctionality that followed as Dan Snyder ran his team instead of football people.
Now Brewer tells us Scot hasn't been running the team as we hoped. It seems like a sham.....

Even though McCloughan would be Coach Jay Gruden’s boss in a normal organizational structure, he doesn’t have the authority to fire Gruden or anyone on the coaching staff. Gruden and McCloughan report directly to Allen. They are, in essence, on the same shelf.
Now we know why we didn't hire Wade Phillips either time.
McCloughan runs the show — with Allen’s old scouting department. McCloughan flirted with adding a few of his own folks, but nothing came of it. So his challenge was to teach a team he didn’t put together his talent-evaluating tricks, to make them see what he sees, rather than create a staff that he knew he could manage.
As Washington constructed the roster the past two seasons, Allen overruled a few key decisions that McCloughan and Gruden wanted to make, according to people with knowledge of the team. Allen proved to be right on a couple of those moves. Other times, he hindered progress. But the ultimate point is this: If you thought McCloughan’s presence served as a shield from upper-management meddling, well, this franchise will never work that way.
smh

This team will NEVER be a contender of any kind as long as Daniel Snyder owns it. And, unfortunately, if he ever were to sell it, it would cease being called "The Redskins."
