Whats up with this message board? Seems like it has been on the decline traffic wise the past 4 years. Would like to contribute anyway I can.

It certainly has been on the decline. I think social media (FB, Twitter) and more pervasive news outlets have replaced a considerable amount of the function a message board like this used to have. Was hard at one point to find other Skins fans on the Internet and not as easy to find the latest news. Nowadays it's easy on both counts.

Those FB message boards are _____ you fill in the blank. Not good IMO.

Social media is partly to blame. Surely, technology has changed things at a time when Facebook and Tweeter, among others, allow fans to get news and views directly and immediately from players, front office staff and even owners.

Dedicated sports websites did and do not have the insight this website has had. If fans wanted to learn and gain insighte and understand, they came here.

I have a different view: it is not the THN website, it is instead mainly the decline in interest regarding the Daniel Snyder Washington Redskins that affects ALL Redskins websites.

Frustration and exhaustion have claimed victims in the attention and dedication of a lot of fans. Surely, there will always be ardent fans throughout the driest periods in the history of any franchise. But many fans will walk away with their feet and spend time with family, other hobbies, holidays and even more work. If your team gives you frustration and anger instead of hope and satisfaction, the tendency for self-survival will lead you elsewhere. It is not fair for family and friends to witness your frustration and even anger on weekends if you are really passionate.

No, what we have witnessed is a shift from a dedicated fan base to commercial company tickets, fans tickets to other team's fan tickets, and what was thought to be a close link to owners like Jack Kent Cooke to the laughingstock, never-learn, always-waste, selfish psychopath, greedy owner who only sees dollar signs when he sees a group of fans. The fan base has had it.

There will always be hope among some fans under the current ownership, whose numbers decline by the year. The Redskins organization reminds me more the World of Machiavelli and the Borgias with back stabbing and personal vendettas than the sports team (not only key individuals but the culture of solidarity and sacrifice) that I revered and loved.

I do not think this decline is a bad thing actually. Sometimes things, not only consistent sport failure but economic losses, need to occur for the owner to sell. Warren Buffet was reportedly interested. Until and unless ownership changes, there is absolutely no hope of winning a Superbowl again. I follow from afar. Only to confirm my views year after year.

HTTR!

You are right. I asked a younger guy if he knew about this message board and he didn't really know what a message board was! But I can say there is another message board that I believed is owned by the Skins that seem to have grown over the years so every site isn't suffering. I was just wondering are the powers that be even promoting this site? Tons of guys easy to find on twitter that don't even know about it.

While I think twitter is great for game day posts, you can never beat dialogue with almost an unlimited character limit.

G'day RiC - good to see that you're still checking in, albeit infrequently ... your input and insight are missed :(

totally agree - this franchise can bring in the best NFL GM, coaches and players and it is not going anywhere until Snyder stops interfering

He will not stop. He cannot stop. He knows he has been the laughingstock among fellow owners, journalists, TV commentators and NFL fans since 1999. He needs to SHOW all others inside the organization but mainly out that HE gets the credit for a SB victory as final justice and vindication for his vision and decisive input. ;furious;

The only thing that he has learned in 18 years is to try to hide from media and fans the degree of his involvement and interference. All he has learned is to keep his head low and purchase as many local media outlets as he can to avoid criticism to himself.

All fans can do to change things is to vote with their feet and their money. Only when losses, ridicule and aggravation mount in a way that are not sustainable to him, he might finally decide to do something else, or as usual, reset all over: fire a GM, or fire a HC, or make a spectacularly stupid and expensive trade, or all of the above and more ... everything and anything to feed the hope of the hungry fans for the next year. [-X

Not THIS fan. :explode:

Its almost football season. Could care less about Snyder or Allen at this point.

But I'm starting to get hyped about seeing this guy in action. Check out THIS catch:

There you go, man. For at least the next five months, I'm just going to enjoy watching the Washington Redskins play football.

And yes its been quiet around here, but I'm also willing to bet there will be plenty of entertaining discussions once we see the team in action in a few weeks.

Stop blaming Snyder ok? The real reason is because we still have 4 open slots in the THN Fantasy Football League. Once those slots have been filled everything will go back to normal.
