Haven't seen or heard anything about these moves until just now..
What freaked me out was a headline: "Redskins without 2 of their best blockers vs Vikings"
Or something of that nature.. had me a little worried, Knowing Trent was out but freaking out that we lost another lineman- we didn't so that's a relief.
Apparently Niles Paul has been placed on IR for tearing his labrum... news to me!. Then we picked up a young 2013 3rd round D lineman (to me that's as good or better then had we drafted one in the 3rd this year; having experience but still young makes it a solid puck up), which of course is the biggest weakness on the entire team... then we also added a rookie db to the practice squad.
Both of these guys are cheap additions, young, and hopefully can contribute. I know everyone wanted the Dline addressed in this year's draft, but getting a three year vet who has already faced the learning curve and had a little bit of success in his limited role in Seattle is about the best we could hope for. Itd be silly to think he's going to be an all pro, but if he can just be solid and another rotational player on that line we will be lucky to have found him after skipping the position via the draft. There's also hope he can contribute on special teams... but like I said if he can contribute at all and isn't terrible, maybe we coach him up and land a solid third rounder lineman.
I'm sure I'm over analyzing this not even news worthy signing... just glad to see a low round dlineman added to the roster- FINALLY.
