NFC playoffs

huh. I heard on the radio this AM that if the playoffs started today, the Skins would be in as the 6th seed. Giants are in too as the 5. Kind of surprised me a bit, just not feeling like the team has looked quite like a playoff team yet.

What are you guys thinking? Legit shot to make the playoffs again this year or no?

Legit shot sure, but I think we will know after the Thanksgiving game. If we win the next 3, especially beating Dallas which if we are bring honest is in conversation for best team in the nfc along with Seattle and Atlanta.

Its kind of crazy to think. But if you look at the NFC, there are a lot of teams that are in that 4-4 range including Seattle. Atlanta and Dallas are the only ones that have been consistent this year.

They showed the playoff picture yesterday, and that was the layout. I thought at the time, the season is only half-way done and they're already looking at the playoff picture? Seems a little premature to me. But yes, I think we are capable of making the playoffs again. I also think we have a legit shot at winning the division still. We are already 2-1 inside the NFC East, and really should be 3-0. None of the other teams scare me. If we can win our 2nd matchups with our division rivals, I think we can control our own destiny. That tie really throws a wrench in things, though. On the one hand we have one less win, but on the other we have one less loss, too. :?

Yeah that tie is weird but still better than a loss!

I'm not sure about winning the division. The Pukes have been better than us this year, hate to admit it. And I think both they and the Giants have softer remaining schedules than ours. A win on Thanksgiving this year would be H U G E.

I think us making the playoffs is possible, but difficult. That missed FG will be a killer down the road. At this point, 5-3 is MUCH different than 4-3-1. In looking at our schedule, I look less at record and more at whom our opponents have played and how they fared.
- I have always thought MIN was overrated because they hadn't played many good teams. Personally, I think we can beat MIN.
- GB also has only beaten mediocre to bad teams (JAC, DET (at home), NYG (at home), and CHI (at home). They have only played 3 away games and are 1-2. I originally thought we couldn't beat them, but with the RB situation, I now think it's a possibility.
- The game against @DAL will be difficult, but we have played well in DAL in the past and I don't think DAL has had a particularly difficult schedule. Then again, they beat us in their 7 game span and took care of CINCY when we didn't. That being said, the ONLY team they have beaten currently with a winning record is us (sound familiar....).

So, could we win all 3 --- no. But could we go 2-1 -- I don't see why not. Had you asked me this even a couple weeks ago, I would have said no way; and it's not because I think we are better, it is because I think our upcoming opponents are worse than previously thought.

After that, we have 5 games, all of which are winnable. Now 3 of them are away, which makes them more difficult. For some odd reason I can't really put my finger on, I think @AZ will be difficult to win. PHI is slumping but it's a conference game away. CAR is slumping and their season is over. CHI up to this point has been one of the worst teams in the NFL but with Cutler back, they are a much better team. NYG will be tough and much can change between now and that game.

All in all, I think we need to win 5 more games AT LEAST. If I were the coach, I would bifurcate the schedule into 3 groups (MIN, GB, @DAL), (@AZ, @PHI, CAR), and (@CHI, NYG). We need to go either 1-2, 2-1, 2-0 or 2-1, 2-1, 1-1. My preference is the later.

That was kind of my point, man. I feel the same way. Surprising to hear we'd be in the playoffs today. It seems like MOST of the NFC are just "trying to win a damn game". :D

Not many consistent, unbeatable teams in this conference from the looks of it.

I'll agree that the pukes have looked like they are winning the division at times - they did lose to the giants and they should have lost a couple of other games as well - they are not as good as their record indicates

we may not be a playoff team but there's certainly no other NFL team that's a lot better ... except for the Patriots

we could be 7-1 also ... coulda, woulda, shoulda

Yeah it looks like the Cowboys are winning the division unless we ball out. But we have a chance for wildcard.

it's simple ...

I would make it very clear to the players - for the next 8 games, we can only beat the team that is next on the schedule

nothing else matters - win the next game

Damn! NFC East goes 4-0 v. the rest of the league this weekend???

I thought for sure the Falcons would dump the Eagles. And Cowboys over the Steelers IN Pittsburgh? Crap.

We gotta take care of business this Sunday night to keep up with these teams. My guess this weekend will be Cowboys over Ravens, Ginas over Bears and Eagles lose to Seahawks.

Took some guts and luck by both the pukes and ginas. The Steelers had dullass.. got a stupid facemask then gave up. The ginas were down six with 4th and goal and they went for it and got it.

Our coach is gonna have to grow some balls if he wants us to make the step to the next level. Game on the line you have to trust your play makers.

we should be at 8-1 (pukes, lions and bengals - I know, woulda, coulda, shoulda) ...

no worries though because the vikings & packers are not playing as well as they are capable - these would have been 2 tough games

one game at a time

Yeah just saw that too. Hate that we're favored in that game, especially a prime time game where we usually suck.

Looks like you trifurcated !

I finally agree with SJ on something. The only game that matters is the next one.

If I were the coach I would focus on the next game only and emphasize the mantra of "Do your job."

Having said that ...

NFC PLAYOFF STANDINGS AFTER WEEK 10

1-Cowboys (8-1, lead East)
2-Seahawks (6-2-1, lead West)
3-Falcons (6-4, lead South)
4-Lions (5-4, lead North)
5-Giants (6-3, Wild Card 1)
6-Redskins (5-3-1, Wild Card 2)

Looks like @ ATL.

fact is - we're finding ways to win games, are not making a lot of mistakes and are playing the game well

this is fun - Green Bay will be tough but this team is playing offense and defense with a lot of confidence

I agree that our prime time games have not been good lately but that's because we did not play like this in those games :)

That's hot, man.

I've said this for a while, but all I've really asked from this team is to be competitive. Stay in the hunt. So many years under Snyder it seemed like the team was mathematically eliminated by the first of December.

I've been debating going to the game Sunday night. Leaning towards staying home and drinking a lot. :)

the NFL has seen a lot of "good" teams not playing as well as they are capable - and the pukes are not that good

really no telling how those top 4 teams will 'finish' off the season - the next 7 games will surprise a lot of fans

The Redskins are playing with a lot of confidence and are finding ways to execute on both offense and defense

that being said, we just need to focus on this game, this week

=D> Yep, like I've always said, I'm happy if we play meaningful games in December! The December games are what will separate the playoff teams...getting on a roll in December is much better than 4-0 in September!

P.S. Dallas loses to Baltimore this week!
