I saw the link on my FB feed and it comes from a legit source. I'm sure Williams will make a statement at some point...

Totally narcissistic move, will likely tip the season. The loss of a player of this caliber is not easily overcome. Bogus POS move, Trent.

What a sob....
Although, there have been links and studies proving that herb can help with CPE, and that Cannabis can actually protect the brain for these football players whom are at serious risk over early onset early onset Alzheimer's

1: It is a ban that is religiously enforced by the league.
2: It's against the rules, and the league suspends violators.
3: The league does not permit the use of a number of substances , and will penalize players for violations.
Did I mention that players get caught? Get suspended? Let their team and fans down? If you don't like the rules, don't play the freaking game. It doesn't matter what a number of yet to be validated studies say. It's selfish, and stupid.

Why can't this guy just put down the wacky tobaccy until he retires? What a ridiculous lack of self-control, pure narcissism and self-centeredness as written above. Whatever hope the 'Skins had to contend this season just went down the drain; what a critical series of games to miss. I'm sure Cousins is just thrilled by this development, he can pretty much kiss his big payday goodbye as well...that is if he's still in one piece after these next 4 games. Nice move, dbag.

This could potentially be a good opportunity for another player to step up

1. First off, I called him a SOB... for letting his fans and his team down.
2. I never excused nor condoned his behavior.
3. I never even made the argument FOR the league to invest into this possible miracle maker, or let players who fail tests get away with it.
I think all the facts should be presented before people start cursing and spitting on this man's character. I know the rules, as do the players. I also know this game is getting more and more dangerous as players get bigger, faster, and stronger. Also, the more we learn about the long term effects is increasingly terrifying.
It's selfish AND stupid of the league to continue to discredit the validity of the medicinal use of marijuana and the claims of protecting the brain- without at least investing into its research and performing (unbiased) studies.
I won't let my kids play yafl (easier said with the lack of interest, I might consider it if they were so eager to play that they begged a little.) But that's just me; Cpe is scary AF!
FWIW, I've read in a few places that Trent missed a test, not that he failed one!!
...And due to his past violation(s) with Smokey Davis, incurred the 4 game suspension. Not that that would be much smarter of our probowl Tackle, just again more information about the man many are quick to put on blast without knowing the full story.

Strange timing I'd add... with the trade deadline expiring not even days before, making it harder to find a replacement? Kind of odd. The league had to have known they were going to impose these sanctions, did the team?
Has he already gone through the appeals process to lesson the blow? Or even extend the proceedings ala Tom Brady, to take the suspension the first four games of next season?
If there is any benefit to this, at least it'll give our Silver Back time to heal up before our playoff push smmfh
Trent Williams Suspended Four Games

"Today, Trent Williams was suspended by the NFL under the terms of the Policy and Program on Substances of Abuse for the next four games," the Redskins said in a statement. "We met with Trent today to discuss this unfortunate news. Per the terms of the Policy, Trent will be permitted to participate in team meetings and workout at the Redskins' facilities throughout this time. The Redskins are counting on Trent to help our team when he returns from suspension. Our focus will now turn to the Minnesota Vikings after our bye this upcoming weekend. Any questions related to this matter should be directed to the NFL or NFLPA."

I agree with everything you said, but those studies have been validated over and over again. Don't fault the science just because you don't like the results.

CBS recently did a piece on the effects of legalizing marijuana - seems this Colorado pediatrician is having problems with a number of mothers giving birth to babies who have THC in their bodies - when confronted with this the mothers don't think it's a big deal because pot is legal and therefor it could not be harmful - what's really scary is these idiots are reproducing
I'm all for legalizing marijuana because it will mitigate the damage from those that profit from the drug trade AND I fully understand the ramifications of what can happen - hopefully those that do drugs only hurt themselves ...
back on topic - Time to move on - we don't need players that do things to hurt the team, on the field or off
be interesting to see how the FO handles this

Everyone is WAY over reacting. Sure it sucks... but it's not the end of the world.
Ty is a really good backup, if it wasn't for the fact that Trent was so good, it wouldn't be a huge performance gap otherwise. Ty could be a starter for a lot of teams
This doesn't change the fact that Trent is still the best left tackle in football, this isn't a consistent issue, it's been 5 years since this happened last, and yes it's dumb, but if this is the worst of our issues, then we got it pretty good right now compared to the rest of the Snyder Era.
Stop making this bigger than it is.

It's not a big deal at all - these players should be held responsible for their actions - they all understand the ramifications
if this is simply a case of missing a test or an explainable mistake on his part the FO will take that into consideration
Trent's status will depend on how badly he screwed up - it's not a big deal
the team is better off without players who make choices that hurt the team

The front office has nothing to do with it. This is the NFL and Roger Goodell.

That's what I'd read too.
Two odd pieces of info I picked up though was that TW has already gone through the appeals process on this. There is no further appeal. And second, the coaching staff was surprised by the suspension. Trent didn't notify them? I don't know if that was the case or not, just the way the story came across.
