DId anyone just hear what ed werner said about winlsow. Apparently he was an hour and a half late for his workout and gibbs went to the hotel he was staying at to look for him and couldnt find him. Gibbs had to send another assisstant over to track him down. Im glad hes not a redskin but hes as talented as they come.

Stop this inane banter...

Kellen Winslow is NOT a me first player, it's sheer ignorance to say so. Say what you want about his attitude OFF the field, but he will do EVERYTHING asked of him when he's on the field. He fights hard to maintain blocks, does everything he can to gain yardage after the catch and is a TEAM PLAYER.

SF55 - while I agree in theory with the fact that Winslow is good, off the field character can translate to on the field problems. Keyshawn, Sean Gilbert, TO, and others prove that point. If he causes problems for the Browns in the long run, you will have to see that it is him being a problem. Until then, we can't prove anything to anyone's satisfaction.

I was saying last night I think we would have been better served building the core of the defense, the line, far more than either pick we could have made at #5. I stated all my reasons before the draft, and I stand by them. But now, Taylor is a Skin, and I will love him on my team as much as LA, Samuels or Portis.

This isn't a knock on your fervor. I do understand the passion. Trust me.

Winslow

I agree, Winslow is potentially a great player but it would have been a mistake to draft him. He will demand top dollar for his potential on the field (Postons will guarantee that) but when he starts whining in the lockeroom because he didn't get the ball will he lose money? No! If he goes into a press conference before a Dallas game talkin smack about the Cowboys will he lose money, No! In this day and age, you have draft quality people not just talented players because once you give them the fat contract you better be prepared to live with their actions every week.

Is this the Meeting that was rumored that he was late for?

Skinsfan I think we have every right to our opinion. And the fact that Winslow showed up late shows he is rude if nothing else. As a fan I am not into rude players. If he's rude to the coaches how do you think he'd be to the fans??
I think we made the right call, but it doesn't matter what I think. I didn't have a say.
Oh one more thing, during the draft show they said that Gibbs chose Taylor over Winslow because he is an offensive coach. He knows he can make our offense great. He wanted to focus on building the defense in anyway he could. So I hope that gives you a little peace Skinsfan, this decision was Gibb's.

I was trying to figure out why you were thinking I wanted Winslow Niki ::grin::

you all are giving me a complex ;)

Not that it is a far trip for me, but I don't need help, thanks ::grin::

Whoa, hold on one second. I agree with Keyshawn and Winslow, but don't put Eli into this situation. I believe that the Chargers were aiming at Phillip Rivers. Even Marty said he had him above Manning. The Mannings wanted to take a look a final time about the Chargers if they were committed. When they knew the Chargers would had no future in SD, they told the FO. A.J. Smith made an idiot from himself by saying the Mannings hate SD. Let me say that the Mannings didn't clear up the situation, which probably cause all the confusion. Second, A.J. was being a doofus of transforming the Mannings into bad guys. If he was patient enough, this would never happen. the thing is if Eli was pick no.1, he would be in the same scanerio as Archie, great player on a sorry team. Peyton was in a great situation when he got drafted: new coach, great GM, potential players. Now, if John Butler is still alive running the team, this would never happen. But AJ is new to the scene and fumble it. he recover though with getting the G-men's no.1 pick next year. If he would of shut up about it, the trade would of happen. Don't get me wrong, I think there's some responisbility for the Mannings, but blame this on the Chargers because of an unfortunate death to John Butler, and a new GM who doesn't get it.

Sorry, don't quite get what you mean. Are you saying that you think the Mannings didn't say that they didn't want to play in SD but where still checking out the organisation? Seems to me they made it pretty clear they didn't want to go there, and reiterated it again in Eli's post-draft Q&A: "But we stated our opinions about what we wanted to happen. We didn't want to go there (San Diego)".
Seems like AJ Smith did ok in the end, getting the QB he wanted, plus a 3rd, and a 1st and 3rd next year.

What's going to happen when players coming out of College, all decide they don't wanr to play for the team that draft's them. It appears to me this is what's called BUCKING THE SYSTEM. If this type of behavior is allowed to continue, I can imagine it being one hell of a mess. What Manning did to the Chargers is "FREE AGENCY AT IT'S FINEST" Plus the Giants got stuck up without a gun.

Glad we took Taylor as opposed to Winslow. His attitude surfaced ingames last year on the College level, imagine what he'll be like once he see's what TO & give me the damm ball Keshawn have been getting away with.

Great Pick at #5 Hail Skins!!

Oh, I know the Mannings were saying they did not want to SD. I'm just saying AJ blew the door open to make it public to make the Mannings look bad. I am sure the Mannings want to keep this a secret, but I think AJ acted like the Spanos mascot trying to force the issue. I think in Eli's mind that if he was going to SD, he was going to be a promotional tool for years and years without having a winning season and I don't blame him. If they have kept the pick, the team would not be good for the long-term. Though the G-men are in a bad situation, at least they are trying to win, while the Chargers are in a long rebuilding process. The trade helps both sides, that's all I'm saying.

In the post article, winslow was quoted as being peeved that the skins didn't pick him. he said that gibbs told him that if he was there they would pick him. gibbs told the post he said no such thing. the article seemed to paint winslow as a crybaby that the skins didn't pick him. i guess i'd be upset too if i had to play for the browns.

That's cool Niki :)

I knew you were righteous... a Skins fan and married to a JansenFan... what else could you ask for in a perfect marriage? (minds out of the gutter everyone!)

I think we are all entitled to our opinion on K2 and most of us agree that he maybe top three tallent-wise but all of us here saw his locker room blow-up during the season on ESPN. Combine that with not working out at the combine, hiring the Postons and showing up late causes us to have serious reservations.

I get goosebumps to think of his tallent on our offense next year if we choose him but there would be alot of 41-35 ballgames with our defense as it is.

I think Taylor was the smart move given the choice.

we needed defense... that is for sure.

Cooley takes the need of K2 and solved that one nicely.

Imagine a team full of Winslow's, TO's, Keyshawn's, and that clown in New Orleans with the Cell Phone. Good Luck!!
