Latest Patriots draft rumors
By Boston.com Staff | April 22, 2004
The acquisition of Corey Dillon might not be the only Patriots move before Saturday’s NFL Draft.
CBS SportsLine’s Pete Prisco reported today that the Pats were considering trading their second first-round pick (No. 31) and their second-round pick (No. 63) to Miami for the 20th overall selection.
The Pats would then package that pick with their other first-round selection (No. 21, from Baltimore) to send to the Redskins in return for the No. 5 overall pick in the draft.
With that pick, it’s expected New England would select either University of Miami safety Sean Taylor or Virginia Tech cornerback DeAngelo Hall. New England has been rumored to be very interested in Taylor for the last month.

thsi should make all those 'trade down and get more picks' people very happy. trade the no. 5 pick for nos. 20 and 21.
if this happens, and the patsies pick up taylor, they can cancel the season and name the pats the superbowl winners right now.

I personally only would like this trade if we could land Udeze & Troupe
Udeze could possibly fall due to his shoulder injury rumors.... and Troupe should be there..... That would take care of our TE and DE hole's although we might have to wait for Udeze's shoulder to heal.....
But Taylor is a tough one to pass up.....

I still would rather have Taylor. That tells you how much Taylor is respected when a SB champion is trying that hard to get him. All the top d-linemen will still be gone by the 20-21st pick. I want quality over quantity. I still want Taylor.

Oh.... I want Taylor too..... but what i was saying is that if we did make that trade.... then it would be less of a blow if we landed Udeze & Troupe.... but we would have to get lucky to get Udeze at number 20...

I agree with picking Taylor at #5. If that scenerio did occur, getting a solid Dlineman and Troupe wouldn't be a bad move. I saw Troupe make some sick plays at Fla

I want Ben Watson and Randy Starks at 20 & 21, but I also want a third rounder to select a DE.

I remember when another SB champion respected someone so much that they traded two number 1s to get him. Does the name Desmond Howard ring a bell?

Yep - Howard rings a very sour note
Take the two picks if the rumor is true... I would snatch that in a heartbeat
We would save money and maybe land a couple of people to fill holes that we desperately need to have filled.

Agree. If we could get say Ben Watson and one of the top flight DL guys, that would be a great draft. Since I live in Atlanta, I have had a lot of opportunity to watch Watson. He is top shelf.
(And this is being said by a 'Canes fan!)

Sean Taylor is NO Desmond Howard.

Two picks in the 1st round
We could due without Taylor
If Taylor is there when we pick, it will be the stupidest move on our part not to pick him. QUALITY OVER QUANITY. I know draft day for us will be over quick because of our 1 pick on the first day, but I rather have a solid stud than two mediocre players with potential.

Make the trade, even though I love Sean Taylor, getting 2 quality players fills more needs than 1 quality player. Waston or Troupe along with Starks or maybe Udezie would be great.

I'm firmly with you, Brandon, my friend. Take a sure thing (or as sure as one can be) with Taylor, defense, where we really need the help, far better than two more risky lower picks where we might end up filling no holes at all.
