Two Questions...

I have a couple of questions, and I think somebody here can answer them for me.
A.) What was this thing that Terry Orr did to his teammates that a Cowboy fan alluded to ?

2.) Why does DG have a bad personal rep with some of the autograph hounds here ? I never met him, but it seems that some who did (who also "post" here) were taken aback by some incident with DG.

Thanks, boys.

I beleive Orr stole money or something to that effect.

DG is not the most friendly guy to approach for a autograph...more times than not he's looking for $$ for his foundation in exchange for his Hancock

... He's actually a pretty shy guy to top it off.

He ran from us in a hotel in Dallas. None of us were dumb enough to try and catch him.

Darrell Green my man... Darrell Green....

I don't know what Tampico Sauce is but you should know who DG is.... just kiddin...

Personally, even though my wife's gotten me one of those autographed mini-helmet's every year for x-mas.... I really don't try and get autograph's when I meet someone like a redskin player.... Autograph's have turned from collector's items, to ways people can make money off of someone else's signature.... I can't blame the guy's for being hesitant about signing autograph's.... I mean if you really want to remember or brag about meeting somebody.... ask them to take a picture w/ you..... I bet DG would take a picture with anyone with out hesitating.... because he knows the chances of that turning up on e-bay would be slim to none.....

If you played for twenty years you'd get tired of signing autographs too...

Ask Jake about Darrell Green's Rookie Card he's been trying to get signed for years. Even the players would ask Jake if he STILL had DG's rookie card....every year at training camp.

No excuse for being rude though IMHO...

My brother, sister, and a kid named Chris were sitting outside the building where the team meets in Carlisle. My mom and I were traveling around, so they decided to wait there in an effort to obtain a few hancocks. The players didn't file out of the meeting rooms until after 10, which means they were there for over four hours. When the players did finally come out, there were only three people standing there. A 16 year old boy, a 15 year old boy, and my 11 year old sister.

Champ came over and signed then talked to them for like 10 minutes. They got about 10 or so autographs from the 15 or 16 players coming out of the meeting. The last one out was Green, and before he even got on his bike they called over to him. He started to ride past, and stopped. They told him how much they loved him, and asked for an autograph. He then said, "I'm going back to my room to go to bed, that is where you all should be."

I always think you can find out the most about a person when there are no cameras on, and there were no cameras.

I have been fortunate to meet Darrell twice and both times they were settings where he had opportunities to show that he ws the guy that I thought he was and both times he was in a word...classless. I was soooo disappointed.

Just remember this, class should have no price tag, Mr. Green

My frined had a bad autograph story of DG...he was in carlisle for training camp and after one of the practices as players came off the field my buddy was asking for the player to sign his hat and most did...as DG passed by my friend yelled out to him "Hey Darrell can you please sign my hat" and Darrell's response was "I will sign your hat when you call me Mr. Green"...to which my friend responded "I'll call you Mr. Green when you stop Michael Irvin" not a cool response but he was not happy with him at the moment.

No offense FatPat..but I gotta call B.S. on your friends story.

I don't doubt that Darrell Green asked to be addressed as Mr. Green -- out of respect, if you're asking for an autograph, you should address the person as Mr. ...it's common respect. And I don't doubt that Darrell Green could be difficult to get an autograph from.

However, I seriously doubt your friend yelled that. He may have "wanted" to say that...but I'll bet you a dollar to a doughnut that he thought of that after the fact and jazzed up his story a bit. I've got a better B.S. detector than Don and Mike.

Diesel Fan....yes...he does tell everyone to call him Mr. Green. He did it at Frostburg Camp also. I do agree that Kids out of respect for the players (and adults in general) should use "Mr" when addressing them. Jake has always done that since he was 3 except for the players he has a special relationship with and they have no problem with him calling them by their first name. (i.e., Darnerien, Chris (Samuels), Bryan (Johnson)(no longer a skin) and a few others.)

Agreed. My mom asked him for a smile when she wanted to get his face on her new video camera in 1995 (yes, she tried to use it during practice but was allowed to when the players came b y to sign autographs  ). When she said "Darrell, can I get a smile?", he said "Not today." Pretty arrogant in my opinion.

I may have to change my avatar after all this!! :? My son and I were at Carlisle the last time they had camp there. It was fan appreciation day between practices. We walked across to the ice cream shop and there was DG signing autographs, only if you bought a t shirt from his foundation and he would only sign those t shirts. He then took off in is VW and wouldn't even acknowledge anoyone that didn't buy a shirt. With all that said, why then was he so popular? I think these players owe the fans. They have bad days like everyone else, but if it weren't for the fans paying the ridicoulous prices, they wouldn't be getting the ridicoulous salaries. I'm even questioning myself why I loved him so. Any opnions?

Well, that settles the second question. The man we know as DG is actually ODB.
What about Orr ? What did he do ?

I think Orr was charged with multiple fraudlant counts. It had to do with screwing a couple of ex-teammates out of money they were owed for taking a share in a shoe company started by Orr.

It sort of surprised me because he was nothing but nice to me when I met him in 1994 or 1995 outside of RFK after a game. He let me hold his Super Bowl ring.

here's the link to his "troubles"

Ex-Redskin Orr Gets 14 Months for Fraud

Former Washington Redskin Terry Orr was sentenced Friday to 14 months in prison for wire fraud after prosecutors told the court that he had defrauded three of his former teammates and a Georgia businessman of $141,000.

The former tight end pleaded guilty in May to cheating James Sowersby of $60,000 that the Atlanta businessman had invested in an international currency transaction and a shoe venture.

At Friday's hearing in U. S. District Court in Alexandria, Va., Orr, of Ashburn, Va., also acknowledged that he had diverted for his own use $81,000 from three former teammates -- Art Monk, Brian Mitchell and Raleigh McKenzie.

Each of the former teammates had invested $50,000 in Questar Holdings, Orr's fledgling shoe company. But Orr, 39, diverted most of the money to pay personal debts and the mortgage on his home, according to court documents filed by Assistant U. S. Attorney Thomas McQuillan.
