I knew they wanted Jenkins a year or two ago. I wonder how much he has left in the tank.

Kind of a head scratcher, but OK!

Does this mean they're really down on Stephen Paea?

Everything I've heard about Paea says he was playing well. Maybe they're down on someone else, like Reyes?

Or maybe they just wanted another DL since Murphy is back at linebacker.

hah. Maybe you were just listening to coach? If you're listening to Gruden speak, one might believe we're TOTALLY thrilled with our current center situation.

Paea was a disappointment last season, and it sounded to me like he had not done much to his improve his stock this year.

Obviously I was listening to the wrong people on that one. #-o

With Pot Roast being cut, I am sure we could get him back cheaper. I think he would be the NT in the 3-4 we need now with the upgrade to the secondary. Hiring a 36 year old DT is stupid in my book. Pot Roast is younger and I understand cutting Paea for salary cap reasons. However the Jenkins signing makes no sense at all. We need younger players not players about to collect social security.

It's been reported Jenkins was signed for the vet minimum, so apparently the move was both performance-based and finanicial in nature.

We need players who can play. I personally don't give a **** how old or young they are. The only thing age means is that you don't sign that guy to a three year deal for a bunch of money.

Pot Roast was NOT GOOD last year, especially late in games. He's continued to struggle with his conditioning, and the Pats just let him go.

Just to follow up on my comment from yesterday. Did anybody see Matt Ioannidis last night? Yeah, me either. Or making plays in any other game this preseason. Cullen Jenkins meanwhile has one day of practice and immediately goes out there and makes plays.

I'm all for being patient with and developing the young guys, but we do have 16+ games to play immediately. There has to be a way to balance those two things in a smart way. If the smart move is to keep Jenkins for 2016 and stick the rookie on the practice squad, then we should do it.

Agreed. There is very little harm in putting Ioannidis on the PS. I doubt another team is going to steal him, and we can call him up at any time if need be.
