I don't really get why we didn't wait a few weeks on the move in that case. Culliver is rehabbing right now. Its not like the later release would have affected his ability to go somewhere else that much.
Of course, the 2016 guarantees were voided when he was suspended one game for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, making it easier to swallow from a financial standpoint.

Can they release now and designate him as a post-June 1 cut?

Scot McCloughan annouces #Redskins released CB Chris Culliver. Releasing Culliver before 6/1 saves $5.5M in cap. Would've saved $8M post 6/1

Obviously with the Norman acquisition our CB group got instantly better.. but with the addition of Fuller it's now a strength with solid depth.

That's pretty amazing.

Not to mention we needed the loot to sign our rookies.
NOW, do we make a run at one of the safeties on the market i.e. Kam or Rolle???

Keim says in the article that they did designate a post June 1 cut, so it will save $8 million towards cap.
Deadskins wrote:The thing to remember is that the $3 million difference doesn't just go away. It's what year the money counts against the cap. If we save the 8 instead of 5 this year, then the 3 counts against the cap next year. It's signing bonus money prorated over the life of the contract. By doing it after June 1st, it just adds another year to the proration. If they cut him now, we would have $3 million more in cap space next year.NC_Skins_82 wrote: ..
