Would he be a good fit at a good price?
Or maybe he's over-rated. Hahaha
Ok, carry on......

I'd gladly have him on our team.

I'd be glad to have him too. But can't see the team paying the money he wants for a 29 year old cornerback. Wouldn't want them to either.

"Good price." Not going to happen. Why do you think he's on the market in the first place?
I hope we don't bite. I guess there's no harm in making a pitch, but some team is going to overpay to acquire him and I'd hate for it to be us.

There is no such thing as 'overpaying' a player any more - NFL salaries are all escalating and the players are entitled to get whatever the market will bear - on the other hand, the FO here is trying to get all the pieces together on the field and make sure that all the players are paid well enough but not to the extent that it hurts your ability to continue to add players with the huge salaries that good players are getting
that is why it is vitally important to have a good FO - they will pay well but they will also show the higher paid players the ramifications of what those salaries will have on the rest of the roster - we could add Josh Norman but if he's demanding a salary that hurts the team's salary cap he's not worth that amount - we're not 1 great CB away from having a good defensive unit
this applies to everyone on the roster

This is simply not true. If you find yourself unable to fill critical positions, and/or develop depth because you have bloated your salary with bigtime contracts two a couple of big hitters, you have overpaid. You become unable to surround those players with the supporting actors that are needed to win games. One or two beasts alone cannot carry a crappy team.

Honestly I care less if we "overpay" the dude. He shuts people down and/or at least makes it really hard for them to make plays.
We are the Redskins, he will help us no doubt.

Bruce and Deion were waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay past their best days my friend, Josh Norman is nowhere close to that.

Agree... Norman is quality, and has lots of top tier play left in him.

I think we're on the same tack here ...
almost all NFL salaries for great players could be termed 'overpaying' - it is what it is - a franchise is really only 'paying too much' for a player when it cannot manage the salaries for the other good players it needs
if a FO can find a way to make sure that all the really good players on the roster are 'overpaid' or on par with where the salaries are for that position - it's just doing it's job well - we do have that type of FO
This FO is not 'overpaying' our players - they are just finding a way to make it all work - this is today's NFL and the better franchise do it well

If we can get him for a 1 yr 10 mil deal I will say do it. I highly doubt he gets his asking price of 16mil somewhere, as most teams have already budgeted and spent their funds. This reminds me of when DJax was released late and we picked him up cheaper. Bruce and Scott like these type of deals that's why I'm not too surprised we are in the running for him.

http://www.csnmidatlantic.com/redskinsb ... an-reportsTeam is meeting with him tomorrow its down to the niners and skins for front runners. Talking 14-15 mil 5 years. (The money basically offered to Kirk)
How is it going to work financially?
http://www.csnmidatlantic.com/redskinsb ... money-workI have a feeling the skins will sign him tomorrow or Saturday. If they don't sign him then, he will be signed else where.

Anybody else feel like this just doesn't feel like a SM move? I just don't see us breaking the bank for Norman. Our we still working on a deal for Cousins?

Question, wouldn't Norman be about $4M more than Culliver. Maybe for a slight increase in price (slight is relative) we are getting a better CB who isn't coming off an ACL injury. Culliver might be gone. That to me would be a SM move. We are also headed to some cap space next year and yes I know Cousins will need to be resigned but I know his hit wont be as much as it is this year under the franchise tag. I definitely see this as a SM move. An upgrade at a position of need. We haven't signed him yet by the way. Like several free agents that visited this offseason, if the numbers do not work SM will say have a nice day and move on. The good news is players no longer meet with us to drive up the asking price. We aren't that team anymore either.

I think that's a misconception. If you look at his career, he's been willing to spend $$ on the right guy. Take a look at the Nate Clements deal with the 49ers.
I'm pretty excited about this. If this deal happens, knowing McCloughan is making the decision is pretty reassuring. Big difference from the days of Snyder's flashy FA signings to make a splash and sell tix.
Btw I also like how the team continues to be patient in FA and not jump into that crazy first week market. That approach continues to pay off. And getting involved in THAT week is where you see teams making bad deals.

I hope it's done for 14 and cut culliver. Skin4life had a very good point. SM has said he's willing to over pay a player he is sure of (cousins). So he's taking an advantage with an available cb and will build the team accordingly after that.

CB is tough to judge, are they a good CB in a great system aka Maxwell or are they a great CB like Revis who’s played well everywhere he’s been? Yes...glad SM is the one making the decision! One thing for sure it will be fun to watch Norman v. OBJ two times a year!!

Think you've made some great points there. Not sure if signing Norman would mean we have to let go of Culliver or not, but what you've written makes sense.
I'd definitely be looking at clearing space other ways first. Beat it, Andre Roberts.

Yeah I'm glad too, because I had the same thought/reaction. Norman is a fifth round draft pick CB, playing for a really good defensive minded coach on a top 5 defense. Is he that good or was he in the right spot?
I don't pretend to know the answer, so definitely glad that SM is making that determination and not Dan Snyder!

Yea not sure if cullivan would be gone and not get rid of other players. Adding more depth be good. I hope a safety is drafted early
