NFC Offensive player of the week goes to.....

Post by cowboykillerzRGiii »

Captain Kirk Cousins!!!!

You like that?!?

You, Like THAT!!!

Captain Kirk orchestrated a beauty of a game putting up a perfect passer rating, and 4 TDs to boot! Hats off to the Cap, and I have to give props to his supporting cast: Reed is staying healthy and has been a Gronk Jr of sorts when he laces em up, AlMo FINALLY got it going as well eclipsing the 100yard mark, Matt Jones- who?! Matt JONES!! held onto the rock and eclipsed 100 yards total offense too, Crowder is emerging as a solid Rookie pick up, DJax- although scoreless- is BACK! Garçon is sure handed again... And the silver back is an anchor on an otherwise pretty decent Oline.

Although this killer output was vs the leagues worse D, and we forced their hand on cutting the D coordinator- this was a superb performance in a game we desperately needed to win. I really hope the boys confidence carries into this next match up vs the top ranked NFC team- BEAT THE PANTHERS!!!* HAIL YA!!

*On a side note.... Ironically enough, Bacarri Rambo earned himself AFC Defensive player of the week with the bills... Kinda of saddens me to see him do well elsewhere- I was hoping he'd make the next step up with us, but it just never happened... What a shame; woulda been a SWEET game day jersey to rock.

Braves on a war path-
Hail to victory!!!

I like that.

He deserves it. Yes, the Saints defense is bad, but bad QB play couldn't have put up those numbers against them. He's really showed great progression this season.

Nice!!! Congrats.

This might sound weird, but in spite of everything I didn't feel like Cousins was extraordinary in that game. He made a couple really good throws, didn't make any mistakes and was clutch again on third down. For the most part I thought it was just a solid performance in game where the whole team played well. I could be completely wrong in that, its just the impression I had at the end of the game.

I don't write that to knock Cousins at all. My point is that I personally thought he was more impressive against the Bucs, the Eagles and even that Falcons game. Those games he really took the team on his back and willed them to win (or almost v. Atlanta).

Either way its cool to see him having this success. More "solid performances in games where the whole team plays well" and he won't have to carry the team over the top in the 4th quarter so often.

I think I can understand your point of view in the whole of your response, but your last sentence says something significant that belies your premise.

When was the last time we had a quarterback who has shown the ability to put the team on his shoulders and extract the opportunity to win... on several occasions?
Doesn't that say something about, at least his potential to be something special?

When is the last time he suffered a game killing brain fart?

I'm sick of hearing about passer rating. Mariota and Tannehill also have games where they posted a perfect passer rating this season. Big deal. It's the other things Cousins is doing well that impress me. The comeback wins. The composure. The ability to shake off a mistake. The ability to instill confidence in his teammates. The ability to lead by example. The ability to adjust to what the defense gives him. The ability to utilize every receiver on the field. Did anyone else notice Garcon, Crowder, and Reed have 43, 42, and 41 catches respectively? Defenses don't know who to cover, with or without a running game. Cousins may not be a franchise quarterback but he displays some traits that can't be coached and that every team would like to have in their starter. This man is going to get paid by someone. We had better hope it's the Washington Redskins. Enough with the "overpay him" talk. It's not possible. He's the best actual quarterback we've had in a long time.

Really happy for Kirk to get some of the recognition he deserves, he'd be the first to say it was a team effort. I've been rooting for him to get the opportunity to play through the INT's and play a whole season! Glad he got that opportunity here...Somewhere Shanny is smiling!!

No, that was my point exactly. Sorry if I wasn't clear! Its cool that he had such a rock solid game v. New Orleans. But those comeback wins and getting it done when the rest of the team was struggling are what I've been most impressed by.

I actually DID see that... Just felt Kirk (and the team; really want to emphasize that the whole team played very well) deserved a thread of his (their) own after such a solid performance!

On that note, Perry Riley was in the mix for top play/catch and was definitely the only LB in the bunch.. I know Newman had a nice INT vs dullass, but that one handed grab by Perry was SAWEET!! Hell he might try to grab em one handed more often; to many times has he brick handed the sure INT with BOTH hands! Lmmfao

Great team win, still flying high... Keep it going and tame the kitties!!!!!!!!!

It's all good. I think the important thing here is there aren't many Cousins doubters left. It looks like he might be the real deal. It looks like Riley might have to make a few more of those plays to keep his job. Compton is breathing down someone's neck for the starting job. It must be Riley's.

Ha Haaaa!! After I posted that I was like, well he prolly put me on the For list.... But, we were all such good homies when Rgiii was winning?!

I for one am GLAD Kirk is putting a good body of work together this season... How fast he gets rid of the ball makes our line better, and he is continually improving his short comings: so cheers to that! Another couple years with NO qb controversy will be a God send!!
