Should the Skins re-sign Cousins....?

I say YES.
He shows good production and will get better as he learns more about Gruden's system.
He is also a good leader on/off the field.
I say, pay the guy and we can focus on other needs in the draft.

I agree. I want to watch Kirk and the rest of the team develop with another 3 or drafts run by Scot.

Why would this even be a question?

They should TRY to re-sign him, if his play continues to progress, for a reasonable number. We should move sooner rather than later if Scot likes what he sees in the next 3 weeks.
His play, the timing, and the size of our offer are intertwined and are in great flux right now.

Sign him now. He's good enough to be the guy for a while.

Cousins played well against a defense that is the worst in the League-but let's not say he is a franchise QB from this game. Cousins looked like a trainwreck in many games this year. He hasn't had a TD longer than 7 yards all season, until this game. Franchise QBs do not have noodle arms like Cousins. Sure his TDs were all longer today than previously, but that is due to the Saints unbelievably poor defense- not Cousins prowess. To put this game in perspective, Mariota posted better numbers last week against the Saints and he has fewer weapons than Cousins- not to mention he has played half a year in the NFL while Cousins has been in the NFL for four.
That being said, Cousins played like a starter. There is nothing he really could have done better. Now let's see what he can do to the Panthers and Giants before we forget his recent play against the Jets and Patriots. Barely beating the worst team in the league last year at home and beating a team that was beaten by the second worst team in the league last year the week before does not make a franchise QB.

You sir are clearly watching a different team with a different starter than the rest of us but thanks for taking the time to stop by and chat....

be interesting to see if anyone really tries to answer this - the OP is asking a silly question
why wouldn't Cousins want to wait till the season is over and he's shown how great a QB he is - is a better question

And what would that be? The QB who played the Jets 4 games ago? The QB who stunk the majority of the game against TB (first pick overall last year) two games ago? The QB who put up a 60 rating against that Pats last week?
Or the QB that the Redskins brass said they will not extend Cousins until they can see him be consistent.
Or the QB, until today, hasn't thrown a TD pass longer than 7 yards- which shows his inaccurate passing and weak arm. What franchise QB has a weak arm and can't pass downfield?
But he looked great today. But Mariota, with less talent around him, looked better. Perhaps he is a franchise QB if we constantly play the worst team the year before and the team with the worst defense in the NFL. Otherwise he is who he is- Captain Pick. He wants to change that? Big wins against the Panthers and the Giants will go a long way to prove he isn't a superstar against garbage teams and a total pick machine against the real contenders. Wins against the Giants and Panthers will give ammo to the Cousins supporters.
I bet he will fold and not show he can truly lead a team against real competition. So we will see.

This post is way early! Kirk fans praising Kirk.
Let's see him play consistently the rest of the season, there are better defenses to play like the Panthers for instance. If the price is right and he plays consistently. Then yes would be glad to see him back! Start discussing and voting this next January and March!!!

Perfect performance... Price tag goes up if he does this the rest of the year. Goes down if he craps the bed. I think if Scott really believes in him (post game hug would indicate he does) then he should ink it up now. Let Bruce put together an incentive laden contract and seal the deal.
Today was FUN to watch, hope to see more!
You like THAT??
Yes, why yes I did!!!

There’s going to be a market for Cousins, question is does he want to test it. All of the sudden the franchise tag doesn’t seems out of the realm. I think if you’re the Skins you have to open talks now.

The bad news is they had every opportunity to extend Cousins prior to now. The good news is they have cap space and can guarantee him the starting job. The franchise tag is awfully expensive but if you don't have a quarterback you've got nothing as we know from the majority of the last twenty-five years. At this point you pay him because there are no smarter football decisions available and the draft offers nothing in the way of options. One positive is this team and this coach gave Cousins an opportunity he wasn't going to get elsewhere. That should earn some loyalty in a sport where there isn't much anymore. At least if they franchise tag Cousins it will be $18 million for a quarterback who can actually run the offense.

That wasn't really that hard. Go back a dozen posts and tell me that guy isn't a ridiculous hater.

I don't know what his ceiling is, but he's shown this season that he can be a capable QB. Two fourth quarter comebacks this season and nearly a third v. Atlanta. Wasn't yesterday like a franchise record setting day? And I don't really want to hear that "the Saints were the worst defense in the league". I watched the Giants last night, currently the 31st ranked defense statistically, nearly beat Tom Brady.
The naysayers on Cousins are just ridiculous at this point. We have a guy who is worth hanging on to. Improve the defense next year and add another playmaker on offense, and he might actually be really good. What is the alternative exactly? Roll the dice and draft a QB? Sign a free agent like Ryan Mallett that some other team didn't want to sign? Griffin?
Come on.

It's not going to get any better. Some guy said he was at the game yesterday and was yelling for Cousins to be benched.
After his first incompletion.
Others are on social media saying that unless he wins the division with a 10-6 record, they won't believe in him.
It's freaking ridiculous.
