Saints @ Redskins - great opportunity for the O

We've been up and down this season but this is going to be a good game for the offense ...
The Saints are 31st in Total Defense, (NYG are 32) 31st in Pass Defense, 29th in Run Defense and 32nd in Scoring Defense
A great opportunity to start the 2nd half of the season

Dear World, please stop telling us which games we should win. I expect Drew Brees and Sean Payton may have something to say about this outcome.
Still, like you said: home game against a suspect defense. I really want to see a good showing from the offense, and hopefully Joe Barry's group can do what they need to slow down Brees enough.

All I've got to say is we had better be able to run the damn ball down their throats. If not, our running game is truly a problem. I can understand not running well against the top three rushing defenses. There will be no excuses here.

there you go - changed it for you ... hopefully the offense has a really good day - this Saints' defense is terrible

Damn fine point.
I'd really like to see Cousins make one play downfield too in this game. Think I read this morning that the Saints have allowed like a dozen plays of 40+ yards this season. Let's get after them.
The WRs in particular owe us a big game after last week's horrendous showing.

As much as I don't believe in "must win" games that aren't lose or go home games, we really need to win this one to have any kind of shot at post season aspirations.
I'd like to see our secondary play better.. seeing Amerson in Oak (usually getting burnt) and Rambo in Buffalo (had the game winning INT last night) I'd hope we have made good choices and have better players filling those shoes.

I'm sure there are a lot of guys on the Redskins sidelines that are looking to having a great outing this week after last week
not taking anything from Sean Payton or Drew Brees - we have to show these guys that this is not your "same ol' Redskins"
I don't entirely agree that it'a must win game but it's certainly a must show up game for these guys and as riggofan said the receivers, especially, have to show that last week's effort was an aberration

Post season aspirations... lol.

I don't really have those personally, but I would definitely like to see the team fighting it out well into December.
Maybe not a "must win", but Panthers and Giants are up next. A loss this weekend could easily turn into a five or six game losing streak. I feel like there have been some good things happening for the team this season. Would suck to see it fall apart with a bunch of losses in the second half of the season.
On an upbeat note, I read that we had all 53 players practicing this week for the first time all season.

I have absolutely NO... that is ZERO... ZIP... NADA... expectations of post season Redskins game viewing. I just want to see continued improvement in core areas, from the players we expect will be here next year. I want us to be able to NOT WORRY about having to find a quarterback... so that capital can be used for improvement in other area... and I want to see continued demonstrations of fire in the belly. If we win games that's fabulous... Just keeping it real.

+1
I really do believe that, from what we've already seen, Kirk Cousins will be a part of this franchise in 2016 - he's not going to be good enough to be able to just pick what team he wants to play for and if he has an unbelievable second half, Scot and Jay will want him here
I do hope that the coaches and players will continue to show that we have some personnel that we can build around
this is a good opportunity to start the second half of the season off on the right foot and remove the concerns with how we played last week

Lose or go home?
I agree. Even if you don't have post season aspirations, this division is still wide open, and we have 4 games left against NFC East opponents. The playoffs aren't out of the question, and should still remain a goal for the team. It's like when we punted, down 24 points, from our own 40, with ~9:00 left on the clock last week. If you want any shot at winning, no matter how unlikely, you have to go for it there. The same is true of the season; if we want any shot at the post-season, then we have to start winning some of these games.

I am anxious to watch the defense, I expect a breakout game by the defensive backfield and a strong passer rush. I see 2 turnovers happening. Culliver is the only DB I am concerned with, his play has been temtative, he needs to assert himself because I see Brees working on him.

I'm hoping these items were high on the agenda:
1) Tackling
2) Not dropping the ball
3) Running for more than a 1 yard gain.

Tackling has been the bellwether of our success for as long as I can remember. As our tackling goes, so goes our season.
I was starting to think we'd brought back Rod "50/50"Gardner last week.
You're allowed to do that? (Run for more than one yard on a play.) Did they get the memo?

I wonder what will happen if DH is able to play, who is going to shift to where? Is Culliver the odd out, can Breeland play that side? Or will Breeland spell DH?

I don't think the Skins are good enough to win the division but I do hope they can get to 6 or 7 wins. I think this game is winnable, they need to beat NO.
Things I'd like to see:
1. A good running game. Let me revise that and say a decent running game because a good running game seems too much to hope for given the way things have gone the last 4 or 5 games.
2. Contributions from Jackson. I don't know what kind of shape Jackson is in but I love to see Jackson start catching some balls and contributing this season.
3. Another smart game by Kirk. He's having a good year and is starting to settle in and really establish himself I'd to see Cousins have another controlled smart game.
4. The receivers catching the ball and atoning.
5. A solid defensive effort.

The Redskins are not thinking about anything but taking advantage of facing one of the worst defenses in the NFL ... the last time we faced a defense that was even worse, was the NY giants
after last week the offense needs a good game .... badly - it's time to start the second half of this season the right way
