Trey Williams gets signed off the practice squad to the Cowpukes...that hurt. I thought he would be a major factor in years to come. I know teams are always trying to find another Sproles...I thought he was the closest to it. :(

Who's his replacement ladies & gents?

We kind of have a logjam at the running back position. Not much we could do about that.

Thats true but none of them have really been effective. To be honest Chris Thompson actually has played better than I thought in his 3rd down role. But Jones and Morris being the primary backs have been failures thus far for the most part.

I'm assuming Morris is hurt. If he isn't he is done! I'm one of his biggest supporters but I haven't seen the old Alfred the last few weeks.

I don't see the team giving up on Matt Jones or Chris Thompson just yet but I think AlMo's days are numbered. Running backs have very short NFL careers in general and his has been on a downward spiral for the last few years.

The running back problem is the OL, all backs have the same problem. The OL isn't giving them the step they need to make things happen, contact is being made at or before the line of scrimmage - esp on the right side. They just haven't been able to get the momentum they need to break a tackle 2-3yds deep, they're getting slowed at the line of scrimmage.

Without the threat of a QB that can run, the O-line has to do a much better job run blocking. AlMo isn't done. If we did release him, he'd get picked up quickly. He just needs a better line to open up holes for him.

Last FEW years???????

WTF are you talking about? Morris has only been in the league for 3 years!!!!

Morris has also rushed for 1,275 and 1,074 yards in those seasons. He also made the pro bowl in both those seasons!!!

Now, this year he has looked sluggish and doesn't have the "push" he did last year. IMHO, this is because they choose to run him up the gut, which prevents him from running "downhill" instead of moving him off-tackle as they did in prior years...... on top of the fact our OL is the worst we've had in Morris' career in DC.

I totally agree that RBs have very limited shelf lives in the NFL and the fact Morris had so many carries at Florida Atlantic doesn't help. That being said he still hasn't missed a game in his career -- college or pro.

Big caveat here --- Morris is one of my favorite skins players of all time, so I can be a bit defensive.

You can be as defensive as you like but that doesn't change the facts: His production has declined every season.

You're "one of his biggest supporters," but a few bad weeks and you're ready to say he's done? Sheesh, with "supporters" like that, Morris doesn't need critics.

The fact his total rushing and ypc averages have gone down each of the past 3 years is FACT, but to say he's in a "downward spiral" is a little much..... especially when both of those "downward spiral" years ended with pro bowl nominations......

4.9 ypc and 1600 yard seasons (49th all time highest in NFL history) are hard to maintain....

You can be supportive and be realistic as well. I hope he plays well and I support him being our running back but at the end of the day I want our team to win so you play the best man available. I will still support what he do just on the BENCH if it comes to that.

He doesn't look like the same guy. Yes I know the offensive line have not been great and the primary reason for our running struggles but what happen to the guy that lead all the NFL last year in breaking tackles? He always got the extra yard, two, or three. This year I cannot pin one play where he actually broke through a few. His body language is terrible this year...I sense he do not like the playcalling and the constant in and out shuffling they are doing.

 I'm not sure you're really seeing what is happening here - the offensive line is not exactly doing very well - things are getting better here but the O line needs more work

Yeah I said the offensive line is the primary reason in my previous post. What I was saying is you can't blame all of it on the oline. Alfred is not making people miss nor breaking tackles this year as he have in the past.
