There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Last season this team quits this game in the 2nd quarter. The wheels of change, culture or otherwise, turn slowly for the Washington Redskins. Patience may be a virtue but it's one we're long out of as Skins fans. It's even harder to remain patient when they keep dangling carrots in front of us and pull them away. But as long as Danny keeps his nose out of things it looks like Scot McCloughan is slowly righting the ship. The only question is how long Jay Gruden will be given, because as he goes, likely so goes Kirk Cousins. If he's out then we begin again with a new quarterback, a new head coach, a new coordinator, a new scheme, wash, rinse, repeat. I'd rather they commit to Cousins for another full season than keep changing just for the sake of change, even if he's not the franchise quarterback the team so desperately needs. He certainly shows flashes of being capable.

I'm in complete eating crow/humility mode. They looked horrible in the 1st quarter. It looked like a pathetic group of guys that had given-up on the season and phoning-it-in already. Then... somehow... they managed to overcome a franchise record deficit, with a riddled defense... and win. I pulled out my old Redskins hoodie and wore it out on my afternoon jog! I'm not sure what to think long-term. But, I think we can all agree that they didn't give up. Maybe there is something happening, slowly, but surely.

It's hard to know how this season will play out but today the team showed they have the will to win and cousins demonstrated he has the potential to be a NFL QB. Not there yet but by the end of the season I think the Redskins will have the answer.

That was one fugly first half!! THEN....the 2nd half was one of the best halves we've had in a long time.

All three phases...

Special Teams with that recovered on-side kick.

Breeland with that tackle of their RB late to save a TD and force them into a FG.

Cousins & Reed on Offense.

Gotta give Gruden and his coaches kudos for that game.

NOW, I'd like to see Gruden and McVie come out vs NE and call plays like they did in the 2nd half. Clearly, teams are daring us to throw and not allowing us to run by cheating into the LOS. It's what Brady does...let's match him on short/quick passes -- AND lets pound on him.

Get Culliver, Hall and Djax back and who knows!!!!

I woke up at 3:30 a.m., saw the 24-7 score, groaned, and went back to bed. I woke up at 6:00 a.m., saw the final score, and almost fell out of bed. What a great comeback.

Fans seem to have given up. Biggest comeback ever and the gameday thread has only 8 pages? Postgame thread is still on page 1? What's up with that?

This team has a long way to go, but a VERY important element of building a winning team is the ability to come from behind.

Cousins is a passable quarterback, but he's getting no run support at all. Our priority for next year needs to be the running game.

Cousins has the goods and will be starting for some franchise next year. I hope it is Washington but who knows with Snyder and for that matter Cousins himself may want a change. He has clearly improved over 2013-2014 Cousins. Whether it is because of his off season work to improve his footwork and composure, another year in the system, more starts, being named the starter finally or some combination all these things but whatever the reason he's improved.

The team is still undermanned and has been depleted with injuries but he and the Skins have put in a solid effort and played respectable football. All the injuries have taken their toll but I think the loss of Jackson was especially costly, I really think the team would be 4-3 or even 5-2 with a down field target to hit. That said, 3-4 is much better than I expected in August when the team looked so inept playing Detroit with Griffin under center.

I think NE will win so the Skins will be 3-5 at the halfway mark and Cousins and Gruden's critics subdued by the win today will be rejuvenated and calling for changes but I think the team will stay the course and continue to improve. I believe they will finish with 6-8 wins, a substantial improvement over 4 wins in 2014 and 3 in 2013 and some confidence and momentum going into next season. A ownership interested in improving the team would let Scot double down on his big boys win games strategy and let him draft another road grader OLM and more defensive help and a young, big down hill threat but Snyder may have lost faith already and get back to selling hope and change with some other big splash disaster. I'll never trust Synder.

That was the best game I've seen in a long time. The Kirkster carried this team, despite what Gruden said weeks ago. Yes, Kirk Cousins carried this team to a win. And IMO, just bought himself the rest of the season.

Wow what a game, really happy for Kirk! I can only image the conversation in the owner’s suite at halftime, I’m sure SM and Bruce had to talk Danny off the ledge. On one hand we beat a very poor Tampa team that was playing with literally 2 WR, committed 16 penalties and made a terrible call on 3rd and goal from the one. You have a 6’4 230 lb. QB and you don’t run a QB sneak…even Tom Brady ran one on 4th and goal against the Jets. On the other hand you make a comeback for the ages…In the same spot the past few years this team folds it up and takes a L. Jordan FREAKIN Reed…I don’t care how much he gets hurts he is a game changer at TE. When we got to the red zone at the end of the game is there anyone who didn’t know Reed was going to get multiple targets!! This could be just a nice win in an otherwise unmemorable season or it could be a game we remember and point to as the game the culture changed in D.C.!!! Here’s to hoping for the latter!!!

Without a running game, can we agree Cousins carried the team. This is something we all have been waiting for. Even though it was against Bucs, I think this shows promise for the future.

Halfway thru the 2nd quarter I waved 'Bye-Bye' to Gruden wondering if he had cleaned out his desk. I really do believe he wouldn't have made it thru the bye week. And then whatever it was happened, the ball got stripped from Cousins and that seemed to piss of the Skins. When they came back out after that it was a different team. There was no doubt in my mind with about 2 minutes to go Cousins would lead the team to a touchdown, it was just a question of who would catch the winning pass. There is no doubt in my mind that Cousins both won the game and saved Gruden. As great as Cousins played, a record setting performance, Breeland deserves a good piece of the Gameball.

Anyone else wonder what would have happened had Baker not recovered the ball at the end of the game? The clock never started, Winston would have come up to the line and spiked the ball, or the refs would have noticed the clock didn’t start and would have blown the whistle in effect stopping the clock. But what would they have done from there…would have been hard to not let Tampa run another play IMO since Triplett said there was 5 seconds left….But man what is wrong with these clock operators… that’s like the third time that has happened this year.

Say what you will about his weaknesses (and he does have a few), Cousins has three fourth quarter comebacks in the past month, two of them for wins.

So irritated yesterday. I could only catch the first half of the game live, so I pretty much only got to see that s***show right up through Cousins' TD run. It was really frustrating and disappointing to see the team start like that. The run defense is a huge weakness, not sure how they fix that this year.

I'm dying to dig up the post from last week where somebody wrote that we didn't really miss Jordan Reed that much in the Jets loss. lol.

I'm just really happy for the team, and Gruden/Cousins especially. Enjoy the BYE week.

It was a great comeback win, but against a bad team. Our 2 MAJOR areas of concern continue: run offense & overall DEF. It doesn't help that there were some impact injuries yesterday. As long as we have absolutely no rushing attack and a bad DEF, expect us to have serious issues down the stretch. This win was nice, but in order for us to compete, these areas need to improve. Cousins won't be able to carry the team every week like he did yesterday --- he's just not capable of doing so against top teams.

All in all a great effort by Kirk with another comeback win. Last week it was Captain Pick ---- this week it is Captain Comeback.

The reason the board is so quiet is because the Kirk trolls have tucked into their holes for the week(s). But if you thirst for more banter, don't worry, Kirk is HIGHLY inconsistent --- they'll have another day in the sun soon I'm sure and be as loud as ever.

I think that will be the sentiment come Nov. 9th --- regardless of our rushing efficiency, DEF success, or otherwise. ESPN has NE with an 86% chance of winning. That is literally the largest % I have seen in a while. We also don't play well on the road --- Kirk in particular.

Kirk should do his best to fully enjoy these next couple weeks.
