This year we'll be keeping the gameday threads separate from the main area of Hogwash. Whoever starts those threads can also start a postgame discussion in Hogwash whenever you want.
I thought it was a pretty good showing by the team overall. Some lapses in the secondary that are worrying, but we did a great job stuffing the run and also getting some pressure on the QBs. Our second and third team was simply bullying the Ravens, which was particularly satisfying for me to see. And yeah, Robinson's tackle was dirty, but . . . I don't know, I've seen a dozen other teams do that to us, and it was nice to see that we were the more physical team out there today. We have needed that attitude shift for a long time.
Cousins looked very good, IMHO. Given that he didn't take first-team reps in practice and that our running game was stalled by a good defense, he performed admirably. I love his crisp style of play and ability to move around the pocket and make smart decisions. I firmly believe he would have gone into the second half and led a productive offensive attack.
Other thoughts:
- I wish our receivers would catch the ball when it hits their freaking hands. Throw Cousins a bone!
- Liked the decision to go for fourth and one, hated the play call.
- I can't wait to see DeSean Jackson take the top off the defense. I do wish we had taken more shots downfield this preseason, but I guess without Jackson it's harder to get someone open down there.
- I'm just assuming our special teams are in for yet another long year. Sigh.
- Another very good performance from McCoy. I wouldn't mind running the season with Cousins as a starter and McCoy as our #2.
- Awesome to see Jamison Crowder finally get on the field. I liked what he showed us.

I agree with all of your points. The Skins have seen enough and they should cut Griffin and go with Cousins and McCoy. Both of them execute the offense well. Griffin is a non performer in this offense and the roster spot should go to an athlete who can contribute on special teams. I want to see more of Jones. Alfred Morris is a quality back but jones might be better.
The lack of of first quarter run production was the one disappointment from an otherwise very encouraging game. I think we only picked up 27 yards on the ground in the first half and probably most of that in the second quarter so Kirk had to throw 27 times for 190 yards. Maybe playing Jones earlier would help. Having Having Jackson back against Miami will help Cousins loosen things up also. Those two hooked up nicely last year so maybe Jackson's return could help.

My thoughts and observations:
Good overall team effort. WR must catch the ball (put some stickum on their palms)
I've always liked Gruden. His presser was full of questions about Robert this and Robert that. I'm surprised he didn't say "can we talk about the game and Win?" You could see it in his eyes that he was sick of all the questions. BUT he remained calm and cool......good for Jay.
Yes, Harbaugh is a tool. Comes all the way across the field to get his guys to calm down, but why the jawing with Jay? Whatever, the Harbaugh bros are the same.
Bubble guys that I wish would stick: WR Ross and Bell, LB Bates and I'm sure they'll be taken by another team if they don't make the cut.

I'll agree with the other posts. I expect Robinson will get a hefty fine, and he should, it was more than a tackle - it was personal. I'll bet the receiver pushed Robinson off to get that seperation and Robinson was extracting some revenge on him. I haven't seen any tape, so its just speculation.
The right side of the offensive line is a problem but I think they are getting better as compared to past years when it was a good as it'll ever get,
We need a kickoff specialist if we keep Kai, that is so obvious I can't believe they haven't done something.
The secondary is still a work in process, I don't get Amerson. He let Smith make a fool of him and when all hell broke loose it was another player taking Smith to task! What the hell was all that about?
I thought Cousins played good enough, his passes sharp and once he got rid of the jitters he looked kinda crisp. I have seen him play crisper, there was a tentativeness that was uncharacteristic in him. I don't fault him for either the exchange fumble or interception, they happened and he got over it. I was impressed that when a player made an exceptional play he was one of the first on the scene to congratulate him.
McCoy looked supergood, it was obvious the calibre of play was different but I felt he was capable of better things.
I see Cousins as starter, McCoy as backup. I don't think that will happen.

What is the report on Scherff? I didn't see the game.

I obviously watched a different game ... I will say that we are going to be playing with an attitude - the QB situation is still open because Cousins still looks like he's going to turn it over - the defense is better but special teams looks like being a concern - the run game and 3rd down look lot better but hard to really gauge without all the good guys in there
I'll try and find that feel good stuff some of the guys here are obviously drinking
we are still not there yet but I do like the attitude

Get real.
Cousins had a bad throw which turned into an interception because of a great play by Suggs. That's it. There weren't any other near picks thrown. And at least 3 of the passes that were dropped, were catchable. We were actually converting on 3rd down. That's a huge plus.
I liked Matt Jones. Alf, not so much. Special teams was the usual bumbling special teams. Defense actually stepped up in the 2nd quarter. Glad to see that. Also loved seeing us crush the Ravens backups.
And I hate Harbaugh.

SkinsJock AKA "get real"............cuz that what he always says. Luv ya brah
No, the sky is not falling but we see progress just the same. 30+ 3rd down conversions I think? correct me if I'm wrong. Let's just cut Bob3 and get rid of all the distractions. I didn't hear much about Scherff, so that must be good news (ala rollerskates the previous game)

I love the way Jones runs also, but he looks like he delivers hits, and takes a bunch as well. I do wonder about his durability.
But I love his running style.

Totally. Great physicality, great energy. If that's the direction we're headed as a franchise, there are good days ahead of us.
I absolutely loved it when he leveled a CB or safety along the sideline, finally being guided out of bounds but not before leaving a few Ravens on the ground in his wake. The play got called back on a penalty, but I think we'll be seeing plenty more like it in the future.

Some guys can handle it. Given his physicality and strength, and the fact that he's just as often hitting other people as he is getting hit, I like his odds.
