Interesting article here on how close we came to losing Cousins. In retrospect, this may have been a good thing.

Cousins is going to move after this year anyways it would've been better to trade him and get something for him.

I don't think so. I believe Cousins will look for a place were he will be the guy and I think he knows he'll never be Synder's guy.

Interesting article. I consider Kyle to be one of the better OCs in the league. The fact he thinks so highly of Cousins even out of Washington is telling.
What is also telling is that other sources consider Cousins to be a "middle of the road starter" with upside. RGIII is currently a bottom tiered NFL starter with upside. I want RGIII to have a REAL chance --- like 8 straight games with no threat of getting pulled (unless he gets injured again -- and if he does, that should be it for him) --- but reading these types of articles makes it harder for me to keep that stance.
Cousins has talent. He can be a starter in the NFL. I don't want to lose someone like that as a result of making a poor investment in RGIII.
And I never believed that other teams weren't interest in Cousins. I felt that if our FO were going to trade him, they'd want a high draft pick. If Cousins were released or entered free agency, IMHO, he'd be signed in 24 hours with multiple offers. After all, if Scot didn't want him, he could have gotten a middle round pick for him and would have pulled the trigger.

I doubt that the Redskins would have traded Cousins unless the offer was out of whack and I don't think that the Jets would have done that
in other words, it certainly was not 'a close thing ...'

Correct me if I am wrong but I think his trade value is negatively impacted by the fact this is his final year under his rookie contract so he is going to be able to shop himself around at the end of the season so if a team traded for him now what do they actually get a chance to audition him? I think Kirk will get a nice contract from a team that needs a new QB but can't pick up a guy in the draft so they sign Kirk knowing he's at least a top end back up and may be a quality starter prospect. There are always a few teams in that situation every year. I could be wrong but I would be very surprised if Cousins is with the Redskins unless they definitely turnover the reins to him early this year it works out well and they give him a sweet contract otherwise I don't think he'd trust Snyder to ever stick with him. Four years of being the red haired stepchild behind Griffin has to be frustrating and he's probably eager for a change even though he fits Gruden's system. In my opinion this is the Skins last chance with Kirk.

Makes sense. We either need Griff to perform a miracle turnaround, have Dan perform a miracle turnaround, have Scot and Jay perform a miracle turnaround, or have Griff get hurt even worse.
I foresee more sucking. We somehow justify starting a concussed locker room cancer in the "dress rehearsal" game against the Ravens, do who knows what in the "final cut" game a week later, and then try to defeat a professional team from Miami (who looks at us as a like win) with the worst QB on the team.
A miracle prayer answered would be Griff somehow being rejuved by action against the team that started his real injury woes with

resulting in the guy we once saw pull the rigger like

somehow recapturing his confidence allowing him to play like

Where is this guy?

Where is that guy?
Confidence has to be a big part of it but I think the bigger problem is his head is chock full of things he is trying to do and trying not to do as he struggles to analyze what he sees and it all happens too fast for him. Another part of it is diminished mobility. He probably still has high end straight ahead speed but the gazelle like lateral quickness he had his rookie year seems to be gone. I remember in 2012 watching the Bear rush encircled Griffin and he ran rings around them before throwing a strike down the field. He was great fun to watch then and its sad to see him now.
I am frustrated because I want the Skins to move on from him but despite all of his off putting cockiness I feel bad for him. Maybe they'll let him run against Baltimore and simplify things a bit and let him play like Shanny did in 2013. Even putting on the big brace and letting him with that might help. He was better in 2013 with that brace and a simpler offense than in 2014 when they went full on WCO which is still too much for him judging from the little we've seen in 2015.
This whole thing may come to a head in Baltimore if things go like the Detroit game. Hopefully he doesn't get hurt.

cousins is the better qb in this system rg3 ran what he knew that first year .... now he had to start over and attempt to be a different type qb which is painfully obvious to us all he isn't a pocket passer .... everything he does says so from reads to drop backs 3 5 7 steps ..... cousins should be the starter .... not a huge fan of his but he gets the ball out and for the most part knows how to run the offense better than # 10
