I'll answer this when Cousins and McCoy play against #1 defenses and not backups.

I'm so over it. Griff should just pull a Borland and retire.
Greendog.....watch out for the free blitzer. I'm so over it.

True. But I have to believe that Colt faced most of the same players that knocked RGIII out of the game a few plays before.

Griffin should sit down with Borland and talk about the risks to his health.

Oh you mean like when Cousins and McCoy played against #1 defenses last year, right? Last year, if you combined Colt and McCoy's sack totals, it'd still be less than RGIII. RGIII set a record that hadn't been broken since (I think) the 40's for sacks. The kid isn't an NFL capable QB.
Additionally, Colt manned the SAME offense after RGIII got hurt and had success.

If Griffin has clearly proved that he cannot play and is not worth working with, why then is he still getting practice reps and playing time?
If that is the case then a few coaches should be let go immediately for clear incompetence - we are in a major remake of this franchise and need to get rid of anyone and everyone that is not going to help with that process
If Griffin has not shown anything to these coaches, then why is he being given time and effort that should be given to others?

Dan Snyder.

It would be truly wonderful if Scot and Jay went into Dan's office together and drew a line in the sand. It would do wonders for team morale.

If Dan Snyder is involved with who is playing, then it really does not matter who plays QB ...
We can also start looking at who will be the HC next season before this season even begins

both Scot and Jay should have already been assured by Dan Snyder that they are totally in charge here ...
Jay knows that his job is on the line and that he needs to show improvement + he needs to get better results from the guys he brought in here
If Dan Snyder is interfering with the product on the field, in any way, this franchise is going to continue to be a huge mess

You know, man, I don't even completely blame Snyder on this. To some extent I understand it. We invested a huge amount in RGIII and took him with the #2 pick in that draft. I can understand the owner saying, "Look I understand your concerns about Griffin, but I want you to give this guy one more legitimate chance, pull out all of the stops, do everything in your power to make this work." Its a huge black eye for the organization to just pull the plug on Griffin.
At my job if I spent $500K on a piece of software and then told our CEO six months later that in my expert opinion I thought it sucked and didn't want to use it, I'd expect him to push back and have me make every effort to make it work.
So point being: 1) I don't think Dan is necessarily being unreasonable or his old meddlesome self or whatever and 2) I think its pretty clear that Griffin is not the guy the coaches would choose to start no matter what they're saying in public.

SJ, You just don't want to accept what is obvious to everyone Dan Snyder owns the club and wants this coaching regime to fix Griffin. So the coaches have to play Griffin no matter how inept he is running the offense. They are supposed to teach him how to do it and redeem Dan's enormous 2012 gamble.
In fairness to Griffin you'd have to be a coach and understand all the choices Griffin was in a position to exercise last night when the Detroit defense was pummeling him. Were their audibles he could have called and didn't? Protection schemes he could have changed? I don't know. If Griffin failed to see what was coming and call an audible or change a protection a lot of it is on him. Only a coach that is working with Griffin understands what Griffin knows how to do. It could Detroit understand he can't read defenses and brought the kitchen sink and the OL couldn't stop all the rushers heading Griffins way.
If Griffin is healthy enough to play against Baltimore he gets another chance. we'll see.

This offensive line we have this season is the same one from last year? No additions or subtractions? Same exact line, same people, same pieces?
Again, I personally think all 3 of our QBs suck but at least I'm trying to be fair and see how all 3 of them do with actual starters.

Bob should hang up his cleats. Take an early retirement. He insisted on being a drop back qb (yeah right)???
No anticipation for blitzes, no great pocket and pressure sense. Someone up top is still "shielding" this kid. He sucks..........

I agree with you he doesn't enough aptitude to process all the things he needs to do fast enough to be effective in the NFL. He doesn't see things this way judging by his recent I'm the best in the league comment but it should obvious to the Redskins. They should cut him and let him walk out under his own power with his faculties in tack. He's a defenseless tackle dummy but that's not the Redskins fault. if they keep playing him and he get seriously it will be on the Redskins because everyone's sees he can't do it.

He doesn't have a problem with cutting bait with a HC when they are performing.

OK - I'm not buying it - this is completely screwed up ...
there are some pretty damn good judges of what it takes to play QB here and none of them are being heard from ...
Griffin must have something going for him or he would not be getting the time and effort that has been put into getting him ready to play
while some think there should have been an equal opportunity for anyone to play QB here, the fact is Gruden indicated that Robert was the starter but only if he earned it - well he must have done something because everyone here thinks he cannot play QB and yet Gruden still has this kid starting games - if Gruden is in charge of getting the QBs ready to play, why is he starting a guy that has no clue about it
what the hell is really going on during practice that these other 2 cannot show that they should be playing because the #1 guy is hopeless

Did you not read riggofan's response from earlier?!
DANIEL SNYDER
That's it. He's the reason Griffin continues to be the starter. He's the reason Gruden did not roll with McCoy last year (after the Dallas game) and started Griffin instead. And he's the reason that once Griffin is healthy again, he'll resume his spot as the starter. There's no doubt in my mind if Gruden had the say-so and total control of this team, McCoy would be starting week 1.
It doesn't matter what McCoy or Cousins do in practice. According to several reporters, Cousins had the best week of practice prior to the Lions game. And if he continued to do so, guess who would start? Griffin. Why? DANIEL SNYDER. There was never going to be an open competition this year. It did not matter how well Cousins/McCoy looked, Griffin was going to start. I really think the battle for the #2 spot is to see who will win Gruden's preferred #1. But he can't start them because of one man: DANIEL SNYDER.
And as riggofan pointed out, it's not that all unusual/boneheaded of a decision for Snyder to insist that Griffin continue to play, considering what was given up for him. But at some point you just have to cut bait and move on.

Is Scot not in full control of this team? Danny Boy still pulling the strings? This drama again?
I agree Bob is not our guy, so cut/trade/fire/release him. NUF SAID..!!!

I think Griffin is a sacred cow and only Snyder can change his status. SM and JG know the limits of their authority.

I don't believe Griffin is capable of running a traditional NFL offense because he doesn't seem able to process the field quickly enough. I have felt this way for several years. I hope for the sake of his long term health they release him before he gets seriously injured, perhaps permanently injured.
If they do continue with him I think they ought to have one of the others start against Baltimore and put Griffin in against the 2's and 3's to see if he can hit minor league pitching so to speak. Maybe some success at a somewhat slower pace would help him regain some confidence and help him play faster. I'm not hopeful but if the Skins intend to persist with him I think this approach offers the best chance for him.

At this point, I'd say that Griffin has yet to show that he's well beyond Cousins or McCoy. He could even be worse than both. Indications from training camp were that there was improvement and confidence, but just two games into preseason and he's looking as lost as he was last year. I know Cousins and McCoy are playing against second and third strings, but I doubt very much that either quarterback could have looked as bad as Griffin did against the Lions' first team.
