I hope that we hardly need this thread, but we've already had a few guys go down already.

According to Ian Rapaport, Niles Paul has a dislocated ankle. No word yet on if there's ligament damage.

Silas Redd got carted off in a soft cast, but no update as to the details on his injury yet.

Damn.. I liked Redd last pre-season... With Thompson and Jones chomping at the bit he might be done here like Lache

Wow. That was a tough night for us in terms of injuries. Especially sucks that we lost Paul, since he was as likely to be our go-to TE this year as Reed. I hope Reed can find whatever magic it takes to get back on the field and stay there.

Yeah Paul is done. I'm sure the team wants to look at some of the young guys we have in camp, but no Paulsen and no Paul... We pretty much have to bring in a veteran TE if possible yeah?

I feel bad for Paul. Guy really busted his tail to get better and gets hurt in the 1st preseason game. A bunch of guys in the media (as well as Gruden) were saying what a huge loss it is because he's one of the leaders in the locker room. It sucks.

Yes it does. He played ST as well. He was one player we really couldn't afford to lose.

Also heard that he actually began to cry on the field after telling a teammate, "this was supposed to be my year". Damn that's sad.

Logan Paulson is done for the year too... That makes Jordan Reed (who has trouble staying out of his own way is the Healthiest TE on the roster that knows the system

Do any of the younger wideouts have the physical attributes to convert to TE? I know we have a palethra of wideouts, some of which will be cut do to how many we carry more so then lack of ability...

Dixon, 6'5 and 243 pounds, is a guy that the team signed on Day 3 of the NFL Draft after all the picks had been made. He made some noise early on in the 2013 season with six touchdowns in seven games for run-heavy Central Arkansas -- projected by some to be a mid-round pick -- but broke his leg and the injury caused him to fall off of teams' radars. The Seahawks worked Dixon out prior to the draft and had a sixth round grade on him, per John Schneider, but got him in rookie free agency. Dixon, like several Seahawks in his draft class, has had to overcome major challenges in his personal life (his father, a former NFL player for the Falcons, Raiders, and Oilers, died suddenly last year) and a debilitating lower-body injury (a bad leg fracture) to get to where he is today.

Dixon has an enormous catch radius, excellent body control, and shows that he's able to catch the football away from his frame and come down with it cleanly. This typically isn't really something you can teach -- body control and leaping/timing ability is pretty innate. I'm guessing the Seahawks were impressed with this, and as Jared pointed out on Twitter, may have discovered Dixon while scouting Paul Richardson.

Based on the limited film on Dixon, he appears to be an excellent candidate as a red-zone threat, and evidently has elite vertical and soft/strong hands.
