A few notes (not rule related):

- Best way to appreciate hockey is to go to games: (a) the puck does not show well on TV, since it is small and shots can reach 100 mph. (b) TV follows the puck, just as it follows the football. You only see a few skaters who happen to be within the camera-view. At the arena, you can see the players maneuver, see plays develop. The skating is elegant, and it takes a lot of skill to handle the puck while skating so fast.

- How do you know that one team is out-playing the other? They connect on their passes, they pin the puck in their opponent's defensive zone, and, usually, they have out-shot the other team. Something like controlling the line of scrimmage. This can change between periods: a team that has been sluggish can return with more coherence and energy.

Absolutely concur... Unlike football... where you actually see and understand more when watching on TV... you cannot truly appreciate a hockey game like you can when you are in the arena... And, yes... time spent in the offensive zone is the hockey equivalent of controlling the clock in football.

Similar strategies... but I think Lacross is a closer equivalent... and is also awesome!

Sidenote... Did anyone see those goals last night we scored vs Filly?

The 1st one was remarkable because the shot came from far and just skipped past the goalie.
The 2nd one was just talent as we stole the puck, made a pass, and then scored.

Love the Caps.. but pleaaase don't disappoint us anymore

To enjoy the sport more, watch when the Caps win.
